En definitiva, la tesis plantea una teoría de la metáfora en música, con las consiguientes aportaciones a la teoría general de la metáfora y a la teoría musicalThis doctoral thesis addresses the possibility of metaphor in music from a semiotic and cognitive perspective, offering a profound and original analysis in two main parts: a theoretical foundation and an analysis of metaphor as a semiotic-cognitive phenomenon that can be part of musical discourse. In the first part, an exhaustive documentary study of metaphor and semiotics is conducted, from their origins in antiquity to the most recent developments. This study presents various theories on metaphor, general semiotics, and musical semiotics, providing, through documentary criticism, a theoretical foundation for the possibility of metaphor in music. The second part of the thesis explores Charles S. Peirce's theories and their applicability to the field of music, examining the possibility of musical metaphor and providing specific examples. The research proposes a reinterpretation of musical signification through Peirce's theory of signs and his pragmatic perspective, describes metaphor from semiotic, interactionist, and cognitive theories of metaphor, and suggests the possibility of musical metaphors arising from musical signs. Additionally, the thesis introduces the concept of "metamusicology," a proposed discipline to study musical tropes and their impact on discursiveness, as well as their interactions with culture and other arts. This new theoretical perspective aims to establish a framework for understanding how music can be a medium of knowledge and how it can be integrated into an interdisciplinary context. In conclusion, this research not only provides a new vision of musical metaphor but also establishes a solid theoretical basis for future studies in this field. By analyzing musical metaphor from a semiotic and cognitive perspective, the thesis opens new avenues for understanding the relationship between music, cognition, and semiotics, highlighting the relevance of metaphor in the creation and transmission of knowledge through music. In sum, the thesis proposes a theory of metaphor in music, with consequent contributions to the general theory of metaphor and to music theor

The impact of the nonbioaccessible fraction of two phenolic-rich extracts from Achillea millefolium L. (yarrow) and Origanum majorana L. (marjoram) on the modulation of the human gut microbiota was investigated in vitro. Microbial metabolism of the phenolic compounds was also addressed. In general, phenolic acids or O-glycosidic flavones quickly disappeared, in contrast to methoxy- or C-glycosidic flavonoids. This colonic metabolism yielded phloroglucinol, 3,4-dimethoxyphenylacetic acid, 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionic acid, and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid as the main metabolites of the microbial catabolism of rosmarinic acid or caffeoylquinic acids, among others. The 16S rRNA gene sequencing showed that the most promising modulatory effect was related to the increase in Bifidobacterium spp., Collinsella spp., Romboutsia, and Akkermansia muciniphila for both plant extracts, along with Blautia spp. and Dialister for yarrow extract. This beneficial modulation was accompanied by the increase in butyric acid production,This work was funded by the Spanish Government (Project: PID2019-110183RB-C22/MCIN/AEI/10.13039/ 501100011033

It is composed by four sub-datasets recording the same trajectory at the UAM Campus, each one recorded in different seasons and including an inverse direction recording. While most of the current datasets in the state-of-the-art focus on person re-identification, with vehicles as the second most explored object, our work specifically addresses urban objects re-identification, currently, waste containers, rubbish bins, and crosswalks. The dataset provides different attributes of the annotated objects, like their classes, their foreground or background status and the geoposition. Several evaluation configurations can be defined to simulate realistic scenarios that may arise in actual situations within the management of urban elements, considering the utilization of just visual data, or incorporating additional attributes, providing different complexity levels. Finally, the dataset is used for defining a benchmark where two state-of-the-art systems are evaluatedThis work has been supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades of the Spanish Government under projects SEGA-CV (TED2021-131643A-I00) and HVD (PID2021-125051OB-I00)

Within this approach, we have developed a tool to visualize and analyze eye movement data collected during learning sessions in online courses. The tool is named VAAD -an acronym for Visual Attention Analysis Dashboard-. These eye movement data have been gathered using an eye-tracker and subsequently processed and visualized for interpretation. The purpose of the tool is to conduct a descriptive analysis of the data by facilitating its visualization, enabling the identification of differences and learning patterns among various learner populations. Additionally, it integrates a predictive module capable of anticipating learner activities during a learning session. Consequently, VAAD holds the potential to offer valuable insights into online learning behaviors from both descriptive and predictive perspectivesSupport by projects: HumanCAIC (TED2021-131787B-I00 MICINN), SNOLA (RED2022-134284-T), e-Madrid-CM (S2018/TCS-4307, a project which is co-funded by the European Structural Funds, FSE and FEDER), IndiGo!
