    EFL Teachers’ Preference Teaching Styles: An Interpretative Study

    Teaching style refers to teacher-student interaction, teachers' quality and behavior, classroom management, teaching media, planning subject matter, and teacher's action that affect the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process. Since there is still little research discussing EFL teaching styles in higher education, this study aims to find the EFL teachers' preferred teaching styles in one of Indonesia's universities. This study implemented a basic interpretative study with four EFL teachers as participants who have different teaching experiences. The study results showed that the participants act six out of ten teaching styles provided in the research instrument. Then, the participants prefer the facilitator style in their daily teaching activities. In brief, the participants did some teaching styles, but most of the time, the facilitator style was their typical teaching style

    Capturing Secondary English Teachers' Teaching Style in the 21st Century: A Case Study at one Secondary School

    The demand of teaching in the 21st century has centered on the four Cs, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication. How English teachers become aware of these characteristics and adapt their teaching styles to this demand needs to be researched. Therefore, this study aimed to (1) investigate the types of two English teachers teaching styles and (2) find out whether the teaching styles are still relevant to the 21st century teaching. This study employed a qualitative case study with descriptive data analysis. The study was conducted in one secondary school in Cimahi with two English teachers as participants. Two techniques were used in obtaining the data: 1) classroom observation, and 2) teachers’ interviews. Data were analysed in the lense of teaching style types from Grasha (1996), then juxtapose with the characteristics of learning in 21st century. The findings showed that T1 applied formal authority teaching style, while T2 implemented personal model category. T2 is more adaptable to the challenges of English teaching in 21st century by facilitating the students to be more critical in thinking, discussing current learning issues, helping the students using learning media proficiently and solving learning problems by collaborating and co-creating in real and virtual worl

    Final Year Students' Perceptions on the Online Corrective Feedback Given by Teacher on Their Academic Paper

    The emergence of Covid-19 has highlighted the importance of online corrective feedback on the students’ works. However, the contribution of such feedbacks on the students’ final papers which basically requires a thorough explanation remains under investigated. This study is aimed at analyzing the students’ perception of online corrective feedback given by the English teacheron their academic paper. To achieve the objective, the interviews were conducted to 4 final years students’ of English department to determine whether the use of online corrective feedback was practical in assisting learners to improve their writing from the first draft to the final draft. The findings showed that the students indicated diverse responses. Some students claimed that onlinecorrective feedback is effective and, while some others said no. Some who stated that online corrective feedback is effective have the reasons that it is caused by the time efficiency and accessibility. Meanwhile, the ineffectiveness is believed to be caused by the quality of the feedback that is not complete enough. This study provides the implication that the lecturer should focus more on the contents while delivering the online corrective feedback

    Rumusan permasalahan pada penelitian ini adalah kemampuan siswa kelas VI dalam memahami Sub Tema Bekerjasama Mencapai Tujuan masih rendah. Dengan demikian : “Bagaimanakah penerapan model pembelajaran scramble dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas VI SD Negeri Ekanugraha semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 dalam memahami Sub Tema Bekerjasama Mencapai Tujuan?”. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas VI SD Negeri Ekanugraha semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2021/2022 dalam memahami Sub Tema Bekerjasama Mencapai Tujuan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran scramble. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami Sub Tema Bekerjasama Mencapai Tujuan dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran scramble. Hal ini terbukti dengan adanya peningkatan prestasi belajar dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2. Hasil post test siklus 1 mencapai nilai rata-rata 70,33 pada kategori cukup dengan prosentase kelulusan 47,06% dan pada siklus 2 meningkat nilai rata-rata post test menjadi 82,50 pada kategori baik dengan tingkat prosentase kelulusan 88,24%. Jadi prestasi belajar mengalami peningkatan sebesar 12,22

    Kebutuhan Gedung Convention Center Seiring Dengan Perkembangan Subang Menjadi Kabupaten Industri

    Seiring dengan perkembangan Kabupaten Subang dari kabupaten agrobisnis menjadi kabupaten agrobisnis dan industri, serta masuk dalam kawasan segitiga rebana menyebabkan pertumbuhan kawasan industri di Kabupaten Subang berkembang pesat. Pesatnya perkembangan industri di Kabupaten Subang terlihat dari tumbuhnya kawasan industri baru di Kabupaten Subang seperti kawasan industri Subang Smart Politan, kawasan industri Taifa, Kawasan Industri PTPN 8 dan kawasan industri RNI serta telah terisinya kawasan zona industri seluas 11.000 (sebelas ribu) hektar. Aktivitas industri ini memerlukan wadah untuk promosi pemasaran dan networking yang bersifat lokal, nasional bahkan internasional. Gedung convention center merupakan salah satu usulan untuk mewadahi aktivitas tersebut karena semua aktivitas MICE dapat di wadahi. Usulan perencanaan gedung convention center merupakan sumbang saran bagi PEMKAB Subang dan masih berupa hasil survei awal yang dilakukan dengan cara studi literatur, wawancara dan studi banding

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai hasil belajar, aktivitas dan tanggapan peserta didik melalui pembuatan cerita bergambar dengan pembelajaran berbasis Inkuiri di kelas IX C SMPN 1 Pangalengan pada materi Sistem Reproduksi Pada Manusia. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini terdiri dari 2 siklus dengan subyek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas IX-C SMP Negeri 1 Pangalengan Kabupaten Bandung yang berjumlah 39 peserta didik. Kelas ini dipilih karena terdapat lebih banyak peserta didik yang mengalami kesulitan belajar. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu data aktivitas peserta didik dalam pembelajaran dan data hasil belajar siswa. Sedangkan Teknik pengolahan data dalampenelitian ini dimulai dari menganalisis data aktivitas peserta didik; menganalisis data respon peserta didik; dan menganalisis data nilai tes hasil belajar. Peningkatan hasil belajar siswa ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata – rata siswa lewat tes tertulis mengalami peningkatan dari rata-rata 70,20 pada pra siklus (kondisi awal) menjadi 73,02 pada siklus pertama dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 80,02 pada siklus kedua. Prosentase siswa yang mampu mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal atau memiliki ketuntasan belajar meningkat dari 64,11 % pada tahap pra siklus (kondisi awal) menjadi 64,71 % pada siklus pertama dan meningkat menjadi 79,48 % pada siklus kedua. Sedangkan Aktifitas keaktifan siswa selama mengikuti pembelajaran memperlihatkan partisipasi aktif dari siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari persentase keaktifan siswa baik pada pembelajaran siklus pertama ataupun pembelajaran siklus kedua. Peningkatan keaktifan siswa untuk setiap tahapan pembelajaran yaitu pada tahap orientasi dengan persentase 7,35%, tahap merumuskan masalah dengan persentase 5,88%, tahap menyusun hipotesis dengan persentase 2,94%, tahap mengumpulkan data dengan persentase 14,70%, tahap menguji hipotesis dengan persentase 29,42% dan tahapan merumuskan kesimpulan dengan persentase 2,94. Respon yang diberikan oleh siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri melalui pembuatan cerita bergambar secara berkelompok baik pada pembelajaran siklus pertama maupun siklus kedua memperlihatkan respon positif yaitu dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa untuk mempelajari materi dan memudahkan siswa dalam mempelajari materi

    Teacher Understanding of Mall Implementation in Teaching Pronunciation for College Students

    MALL offers excellent potential for university students' language learning. As confirmed by numerous studies conducted on utilizing mobile technology in language learning classrooms. However, amid modernization and the advancement of technology, not all educators can fully comprehend MALL-based learning and its implementation inside the classroom. The present study employed a case study research design to investigate the teachers' understanding of MALL implementation in teaching pronunciation for college students. The participants in this study are MALL-user lecturers. The data were collected from an open-ended interview and analyzed using inductive stages. The findings indicated that the teacher's understanding of implementing MALL in teaching pronunciation is sufficient and competent enough to implement the correct way of MALL in the teaching-learning process. The results also reveal that MALL has its own vital merits and disadvantages to be employed in the teaching and learning process. Furthermore, the results suggest that educators must set a learning media perimeter prior to the MALL process in teaching pronunciation. The results of this study are expected to enrich the pronunciation learning process and assist teachers and students in properly employing MALL inside the classroom to reach the maximum learning output

    Comparison of Responses between Children with ADHD and Normal Children.

    Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders often occur among children and adults whose characteristics can be seen from how they respond to an action or question. This study aims to compare responses between children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders and normal children. The subjects in this study were 2 children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders and 1 normal child using data analysis from 2 videos on YouTube. This study uses a qualitative method by using observations of the video from YouTube. The results of this study indicate a significant difference in response between children with ADHD and normal children without ADHD. These differences can be identified through the symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity

    Expanding EFL Student’s Vocabulary Through Tiktok Application In 4th Semester English Education Study Program, Universitas Subang

    TikTok is a video sharing social network that is currently popular and widely used by many people. Tiktok has a unique feature of short videos in various genres. The videos produced from this platform have been widely used in various contexts including classroom teaching. It is possible that TikTok can have a role in attracting students' attention and introducing them to new English vocabulary through several selected videos from the app. Most students can barely pay attention to their teacher during offline or online classes. This may prevent them from actively participating in class activities. TikTok videos are shorter in duration with interesting and informative content, which of course can be used as teaching materials. The results showed that students showed increased levels of attention, interest and understanding of the subject matter taught in class through TikTok videos

    Using Games to Teach Young Learners Vocabulary

    Teaching English to young learners has become a phenomenon in Saudi Arabia over the last few decades. In kindergarten and elementary schools, English is the primary subject. Saudi children, like any other, readily accept new foreign languages, but they become quickly bored if their teachers use outdated methods and techniques. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate thatgames are effective tools for explaining vocabularies and making it easier to remember their meanings. This paper is a review of the literature on using games to teach English vocabulary to young learners. The article then discusses the significance of using games in vocabulary instruction and how they can be beneficial.Following that, it investigates the practical implications of using games to teach vocabulary, which includes the implementation of vocabulary games and some examples of games that could be used to teach children vocabulary. Finally, it investigates the difficulties that teachers face when teaching vocabulary to young learners through games
