Cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) cultivation can be integrated into agroforestry systems by combining cacao plants with shade trees. This system not only supports cacao production but also contributes to carbon storage in both biomass and soil. This study aimed to analyze the production and carbon storage potential of agroforestry-based cacao plantations. The research was conducted in Helumo Village, Mootilango Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency, in February 2025. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) with subsamples was employed, involving three types of shade trees in the agroforestry cacao system: teak (AF-teak), lamtoro (AF-lamtoro), and gliricidia/gamal (AF-gamal). Each treatment included three subsamples, resulting in a total of nine plots measuring 10 m 10 m each. Observed parameters included the number of pods, number of seeds, fresh seed weight, dry seed weight, bean count, pod value, as well as estimated biomass and carbon storage using allometric equations. The analysis revealed that the type of shade tree had no statistically significant eletracao production. However, the agroforestry system demonstrated substanimi carison storage capacity. Among the treatments, the teak-shaded system showed the highest carbon storage at 926.22 tons/ha, followed by the lamtoro and gamal

Equitable distribution of educational resources is an important prerequisite to ensure that all communities benefit from human resource development. Access to education through the availability of schools and teachers at every level, plays a role in reducing the gap between regions. This study aims to group educational resources at the elementary and junior high school levels in 31 sub-districts of Surabaya City and evaluate the quality of grouping using the Davies–Bouldin Index (DBI). The analysis was carried out using secondary data from the Surabaya City Education Office which included the number of schools, teachers, and students based on education level in each sub-district. The clustering method used is K-Means++, which improves the centroid initialization process to produce more stable clustering. The results of the analysis identified three clusters, namely Development Education Areas (17 sub-districts), Elementary Focused Areas with Limited Junior High Schools (7 sub-districts), and Priority Education Areas (7 sub-districts: Rungkut, Sukolilo, Wonokromo, Sukomanunggal, Genteng, Kenjeran, and Krembangan). The quality of the grouping was validated with a DBI value of 0.752, which indicates a good cluster separation These findings can directly inform the Surabaya City Government in formulating targeted policies for educational equity, especially in teacher placement, student quota adjustment, and infrastructure development

Implementasi Metode Extreme Value Theory untuk Menghitung Maksimal Kerugian Akibat Bencana Alam

    No full text
This study employs Extreme Value Theory (EVT) using the Block Maxima (BM) approach and the Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution to model and estimate the potential maximum financial losses caused by natural disasters in Central Java, Indonesia. Historical loss data from 2022 are utilized to calibrate GEV distribution parameters, followed by Monte Carlo simulations to project risks over a 12-year horizon. The results reveal that the data exhibit heavy-tailed characteristics (indicated by a positive shape parameter), signaling significant extreme risks. Goodness-of-fit tests, specifically Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Anderson-Darling, confirm the validity of the GEV model. Return level analysis indicates a sharp escalation in risk; for a 100-year return period, potential losses reach a substantial magnitude. These findings contribute methodologically to regional fiscal risk estimation and underscore the necessity of precise financial mitigation instruments

Warfarin Nanoparticle and Microparticle Technologies: Therapeutic and Analytical Perspectives

    No full text
Warfarin is an oral anticoagulant widely used for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disorders. However, its clinical use is limited by a narrow therapeutic index, high variability in plasma levels, and the need for strict therapeutic monitoring. To address these limitations, various drug delivery systems have been developed to improve warfarin bioavailability, stabilize plasma drug concentrations, and enhance patient compliance. This review evaluates 11 representative studies covering diverse nano- and microtechnology-based approaches developed to address these challenges from both therapeutic and analytical perspectives. Therapeutic strategies include polymeric micro- and nanoparticles, self-assembled systems, silica-based carriers, and nanoprecipitation techniques, which have been shown to improve warfarin solubility, encapsulation efficiency, release control, and biodistribution, primarily in in vitro and animal models. In addition, analytical advances such as nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors and mesoporous silica adsorbents have demonstrated enhanced sensitivity and faster detection of warfarin, with several platforms achieving limits of detection within clinically relevant ranges and validation in serum or blood matrices. Despite these promising developments, most reported outcomes remain descriptive and preclinical, with limited evaluation of long-term safety and clinically relevant haemostasis endpoints. Future efforts should focus on scalable manufacturing, comprehensive in vivo assessment of haemostasis parameters, and validation of analytical platforms using patient samples in comparison with gold-standard analytical methods. These steps are essential to enable the safe and effective clinical translation of nano- and microtechnologies for warfarin

    No full text
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a major non-communicable disease associated with high morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs worldwide. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with CKD stage among patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Dr. Hasri Ainun Habibie, Gorontalo Province, Indonesia. A quantitative observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 53 hemodialysis patients using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of patients were in the advanced stage of CKD (62.3%) and belonged to the young elderly age group (60–69 years). Bivariate analysis demonstrated that age (p 0.001), family history of CKD (p 0.001), history of urinary tract infection (p = 0.002), heart disease (p = 0.013), diabetes mellitus (p = 0.001), hypertension (p 0.001), smoking habits (p = 0.032), and energy drink consumption (p = 0.046) were significantly associated with CKD stage. Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified age (p = 0.008), family history of CKD (p = 0.039), history of heart disease (p = 0.031), and hypertension (p = 0.018) as independent factors associated with advanced-stage CKD, with hypertension showing the strongest association. In conclusion, advanced-stage CKD among hemodialysis patients is associated with increasing age and chronic comorbid conditions, particularly hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Strengthening early screening programs and optimizing the management of hypertension and cardiovascular risk factors are essential to prevent CKD progression and reduce the burden of hemodialysis

Optimizing of IndoBERT Embedding with Ditto Whitening for Measuring Research Title Similarity

    No full text
Measuring the semantic similarity of research titles is a crucial component in maintaining academic originality and preventing topic duplication in higher education. However, IndoBERT embeddings, as a pretrained Indonesian language model, are known to suffer from anisotropy, causing many titles to exhibit high similarity scores despite being semantically distinct. This study aims to optimize the quality of IndoBERT embeddings through Ditto Whitening and to evaluate its impact on research title similarity measurement. The dataset comprises 7.785 undergraduate thesis titles collected from six disciplinary domains and processed using mean pooling and L2 normalization before and after whitening. An intrinsic evaluation was conducted by assessing embedding isotropy, cosine similarity distribution, global bias toward the mean vector, and hubness phenomena, supported by embedding space visualizations using t-SNE, UMAP, and cosine similarity heatmaps. Experimental results demonstrate substantial improvements in embedding quality, indicated by a reduction in Cosine Pair Mean from 0.559 to −0.000145, a decrease in MeanCos-to-Mean from 0.748 to 0.0068, and a reduction in Hubness Skew from 1.60 to 0.68. The isotropy of the embeddings also increased markedly, reflecting a more uniform vector distribution. These findings confirm that Ditto Whitening effectively improves the isotropy of IndoBERT embeddings and directly enhances the accuracy of research title similarity detection and academic document retrieval systems, thereby supporting topic management and research quality assurance in higher education
