Participatory Mapping for RT, Dusun, and Village Boundary Delimitation in Dlingo, Bantul, Indonesia
Village, hamlet, and neighbourhood boundary delineation is essential for effective governance, spatial planning, and population administration, yet many rural areas in Indonesia still lack formally recognized boundary maps. This study aims to establish accurate administrative boundaries in Dlingo Village, Bantul Regency, through a participatory mapping approach that integrates field surveys, high-resolution satellite imagery, cartometric interpretation, and GIS-based analysis. Field data were collected using handheld GPS devices and subsequently plotted and digitized to construct preliminary boundary lines. The mapping process was refined through Focus Group Discussions involving village officials, hamlet heads, and neighbourhood leaders, ensuring that spatial interpretations aligned with local knowledge and long-standing territorial agreements. The results show that most village boundaries follow natural landscape features, particularly rivers, which assisted cartometric delineation, although terrain conditions posed challenges during field verification. A comparison between field-surveyed boundaries and OpenStreetMap data revealed significant positional discrepancies, confirming the need for ground-truthing in rural boundary mapping. The final administrative boundary maps reflect both technical accuracy and community consensus, providing a reliable reference for governance, development planning, and the establishment of a village information system. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of combining participatory approaches with geospatial techniques and offers a practical model for addressing boundary ambiguities in other rural regions

Effects of POGIL and Verification Approaches on Students’ Cognitive Achievement in Reaction Rate: The Moderating Role of Scientific Reasoning
This study examined the effectiveness of the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) approach in improving students’ conceptual understanding of reaction-rate concepts and investigated whether scientific reasoning skills moderate the effect of instructional model in a 2×2 factorial design. Forty-four tenth-grade science students from two intact classes were matched and categorized into high and low scientific reasoning groups. Conceptual understanding was measured using a two-tier diagnostic test, and assumptions for Two-Way ANOVA were verified before analysis. Results indicated a significant main effect of instructional model, with POGIL achieving higher scores than verification-based instruction (F = 20.385, p < 0.001, η² = 0.29). Scientific reasoning also significantly influenced outcomes (F = 7.328, p = 0.010, η² = 0.10). The interaction between instructional model and reasoning was not statistically significant (F = 2.559, p = 0.118), indicating that the interaction effect was not statistically significant in this sample. POGIL is theoretically expected to support integration of macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic representations through guided inquiry and collaborative scaffolding. Limitations include the small sample size and quasi-experimental design. These findings highlight the potential of guided inquiry-oriented instruction to enhance conceptual understanding while emphasizing the role of reasoning skills, with cautious interpretation of non-significant interactions
STEM-Integrated Problem-Based Learning as a Cognitively Aligned Framework for Enhancing Critical Thinking in Thermochemistry
Developing students’ critical thinking skills remains a major challenge in chemistry education, particularly in thermochemistry, which requires conceptual, symbolic, and quantitative reasoning. While STEM-integrated problem-based learning (PBL–STEM) has gained increasing attention, limited studies have examined how this instructional approach aligns with the cognitive structure of critical thinking. This study investigated the effect of the PBL–STEM model on students’ critical thinking skills in thermochemistry. A quasi-experimental design involving 64 tenth-grade students was employed. Participants were selected using purposive sampling and assigned to an experimental group and a control group. Critical thinking skills were measured using a 20-item essay test based on Facione’s framework. The instrument demonstrated high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.915) and strong content validity (CVI = 0.93). Data were analyzed using an independent-samples t-test. Results showed a significant difference between groups (t = 4.997, p < 0.05), with the experimental group achieving higher mean scores (M = 80.80) than the control group (M = 65.38). The effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.25) indicates a large instructional impact. These findings suggest that STEM-integrated PBL provides a cognitively aligned framework for fostering critical thinking in chemistry learning

Its integration into chemistry education is essential to foster sustainable development and environmental responsibility among students. Data were collected from 100 articles published between 2016 and 2025 in Google Scholar and Publish or Perish, of which 15 articles met the inclusion criteria for further analysis. Narrative synthesis was applied to extract and categorize information regarding research focus, methodology, learning context, and forms of implementation. The results indicate that applying green chemistry principles in chemistry learning strengthens conceptual mastery, motivation, creativity, and ecological awareness. Reported strategies include curriculum integration, eco-friendly laboratory practices, micro-scale experiments, and the development of innovative teaching modules. Despite challenges such as limited resources, teacher readiness, and lack of media, opportunities remain promising when aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In conclusion, integrating green chemistry into chemistry education enriches learning while supporting the formation of future generations who are more environmentally conscious and committed to sustainability
A Review of Ethno-STEM Learning Modules in Chemical Kinetics: Bridging Cultural Relevance and Conceptual Understanding of Reaction Rates
This review explored how ethno-STEM learning modules help students understand reaction rates in chemical kinetics. These modules combine science with culture to make lessons more engaging and easier to relate to. We looked at how the modules were designed and used, how they supported learning, and how they mixed cultural content with science. We also compared different strategies—like inquiry learning and technology use—and identified common teaching problems. We focused on studies from secondary schools, vocational programs, and universities published up to mid-2024. These studies used different methods, such as interviews, surveys, and classroom experiments. We found that culture-based modules made chemistry more relevant and kept students motivated. Inquiry learning and technology also helped students understand reaction rates better. However, many of these strategies still need better ways to measure success and reach more students. Some students struggled with graphs and formulas, but active learning and visual tools helped improve their understanding. Teachers and students liked the modules because they connected chemistry to real life and local knowledge. Still, how engagement is measured varies between studies. In general, this review shows that ethno-STEM has strong potential to improve chemistry lessons by linking science and culture. But future research should be more consistent and explore how to use these methods in different types of classrooms
