Analyzing the Effectiveness of Dance Movements in Enhancing Activities of Daily Living for Geriatric Patients and Relevant Implications for Nursing Care
Get PDFWithin the healthcare industry, the geriatric population holds a unique set of patient-care needs due to a myriad of physical and cognitive challenges that are not present in other subcategories of the population (Cremer et al., 2023). The presentation of these challenges can negatively impact a patient’s quality of life and their overall independence, which in turn decreases their overall quality of life (Cremer et al., 2023). One specific challenge healthcare providers must consider when caring for elderly patients is the reduced range of mobility typically associated with growing older (Machacova et al., 2015; Hartigan, 2007; Sinoff & Ore, 1997; Cremer et al., 2023; Lu et al., 2024). The reasons for decreased mobility include but are not limited to degenerative musculoskeletal conditions, inadequate nutritional intake, and other comorbidities (Cremer et al., 2023). According to peer-reviewed published resources, by engaging in frequent Dance Movement Therapy, geriatric patients experience increased function, mobility, balance, and coordination (Machacova et al., 2015; Woloszyn et al., 2021; Woloszyn et al., 2023; Britten et al., 2017; Lu et al., 2024). As patients gain a greater sense of independence, they are able to participate in their own self-care needs (Lu et al., 2024; Galhardas et al., 2022; Hartigan, 2007; Sinoff & Ore, 1997). This in turn improves the delivery of patient-centered care by nursing staff, as they are able to provide further specialized care that benefits the patient’s overall recovery and reduces the recovery period (Cremer et al., 2023; Padula et al., 2009). Despite the fact that Dance Movement Therapy is not a commonly discussed topic in nursing practice, current evidence demonstrates that incorporating Dance Movement Therapy into a patient’s daily care plan improves their overall physical condition and in turn, nursing care 2 (Machacova et al., 2015; Woloszyn et al., 2021; Woloszyn et al., 2023; Britten et al., 2017; Lu et al., 2024). This literature serves to argue this concept by synthesizing 26 peer-reviewed research articles and literature reviews published from 2009 to 2024, all of which highlight positive results towards the implementation of Dance Movement Therapy within patient care environments
The Impact of the Changes in NAFTA on Automobile Manufacturing Between the United States and Mexico
Get PDFIn this paper, I am analyzing how the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) affect the automobile manufacturing industry, with a focus on Mexico and the United States. In order to determine the impact realized on the company level I compiled the cost of revenue data for Ford five years pre and post each agreement. Then, I used the data and ran a regression to see if a correlation presented itself between the agreements’ ratification and company performance. The results of my study indicate that both trade agreements increased the cost of revenue and cost of goods sold for Ford. This paper will contribute to the discussion surrounding the general efficacy of trade agreements as the enforcers of labor regulations and support mechanisms to encourage the success of specific industries
Bedside Nursing Report: Changing the Practice in the Hospital and How it Affects Patients
Get PDFThis literature review explores barriers and obstacles that have prevented bedside shift reports to be the standard of practice for hospitals nation-wide. By analyzing existing research from 2019-2024, the review was able to explore data from both qualitative and quantitative research studies. The analysis reveals that there are benefits of the bedside shift report style for nurses and their patients. Nurses are able to gain more knowledge and information on their patients while being less distracted by their surroundings when completing a report at the bedside. Patients will also benefit in the bedside shift reports because it allows for an increase in patient safety and privacy while also enabling the patient to be a more active member in their plan of care. These findings emphasize the benefits of the bedside shift report and prove that a full change would lead to decreased miscommunication among nurses as well as decrease nursing medical errors. This review will provide insight into the most effective implementation strategies for healthcare facilities that can be put in place to allow for a smooth transition to this style of reporting
Recognizing and Addressing Burnout in Physician Associates

Burnout among Physician Associates (PAs) is a pervasive occupational hazard with far-reaching consequences for clinician well-being, patient safety, and the sustainability of healthcare systems. This doctoral project examines the multifaceted nature of PA burnout, focusing on its impact on mental and physical health, clinical performance, team dynamics, and workforce retention. A structured literature review of peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 revealed consistent associations between burnout and emotional exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and diminished job satisfaction. These symptoms impair decision-making, reduce empathy, and elevate the risk of medical errors—factors that compromise patient outcomes and disrupt collaborative care.
The review identified numerous high-quality sources examining burnout among PAs and comparable advanced practice providers. Findings indicate that burnout contributes to rising attrition rates and recruitment challenges, posing a threat to the long-term viability of the PA profession. Despite its prevalence, burnout remains underrecognized and undertreated, hindered by the limited availability of diagnostic tools and a lack of research specific to the specialty. Addressing this issue requires a coordinated response from individuals, healthcare organizations, and professional bodies to implement evidence-based interventions, foster resilience, and cultivate supportive work environments.
This study emphasizes the significance of recognizing and mitigating burnout in PAs—not only to safeguard clinician health but also to preserve care quality and ensure the resilience of the healthcare workforce. Proactive, systemic action is essential to safeguard both providers and the future of healthcare
Leptospirosis: A review of clinical presentation, evaluation, and management
No full textLeptospirosis is the most common zoonosis worldwide. The pathogenic leptospira is a spirochete that can cause human kidney failure and death. The presentation of symptoms is subtle and can be mistaken as a flu-like illness, with abrupt fever being the most common symptom. The incubation period for the spirochetes is up to 30 days, with an average of 10 days. Symptoms can vary, making the diagnosis difficult. A history of exposure to freshwater or soil that Leptospira contaminated is helpful in diagnosing. Successful treatment of the spirochete infection can be accomplished with broad-spectrum antibiotics. Policy, Misinformation, and Mortality: The Effects of Abortion Restrictions on Maternal Outcomes
No full textThe objective of this review is to evaluate the effects of restrictive abortion laws on maternal mortality and morbidity in the United States. Even before the landmark reversal of Roe v. Wade, the US had one of the highest maternal mortality rates among other high-income countries, and rates are expected to continue to rise in states with restrictive abortion policies. Electronic databases and public health data were analyzed to assess clinical outcomes, access to care, and disparities associated with abortion restrictions nationally and internationally. The findings suggest that states with highly restrictive abortion policies experience higher rates of maternal morbidity and mortality and delayed or denied care for pregnancy-related complications. These laws disproportionately impact marginalized populations, including those with low income, people of color, and rural residents, exacerbating existing health disparities. Additionally, restrictive legislation creates legal and clinical uncertainty, hindering timely, evidence-based decision-making by clinicians and contributing to the criminalization of standard obstetric care in some cases. International comparisons support these trends; in countries enforcing strict abortion bans, similar outcomes were found. While this review highlights significant negative health outcomes associated with abortion restrictions, it also underscores the urgent need for evidence-based reproductive health policies that prioritize maternal safety and health equity and call for ongoing advocacy to protect access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare
Splenic Endometriomas: A Case Report
No full textThis case report describes a rare presentation of a splenic endometrioma in a patient with known endometriosis, outlining her chief complaint, hospital course, and management of both the splenic lesion and associated symptoms. It further explores the proposed mechanisms of endometrioma formation and emphasizes the rarity of splenic involvement by comparing this case to those previously documented in the literature. By broadening the differential diagnosis for patients presenting with splenic cysts, this report encourages clinicians to consider endometriosis as a potential etiology. In doing so, it aims to raise awareness of the possibility of endometriotic involvement of the spleen and highlights considerations for diagnostic evaluation and management strategies to optimize patient outcomes. Ultimately, documenting this uncommon case underscores the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for endometriosis in patients with unexplained splenic lesions. This report not only challenges the perception that such cases are exceedingly rare but also seeks to promote timely recognition, appropriate intervention, and improved symptom relief for affected patients
Evolving Risk and Emerging Guidance of Hormone Replacement Therapy in Women with Breast Cancer
No full textHormone replacement therapy (HRT) has long been avoided in women with a history of breast cancer due to concerns about recurrence, particularly in estrogen receptor–positive cases. However, growing evidence suggests that a universal prohibition is no longer justified. This clinical review examines evolving data on the risks and benefits of HRT in breast cancer survivors and highlights emerging guidance that supports more individualized, evidence-based decision-making.
Recent studies show that while systemic HRT remains generally contraindicated in most hormone-sensitive cancers, carefully selected patients, especially those with estrogen receptor–negative disease or severe menopausal symptoms, may benefit from limited, closely monitored use. Local estrogen therapies for genitourinary symptoms have demonstrated minimal systemic absorption and no meaningful increase in recurrence risk. Yet, many patients continue to receive outdated or overly cautious counseling, leaving symptoms untreated and quality of life diminished.
A comprehensive literature review of studies from 2000 to 2024 reveals a growing consensus that treatment decisions should consider cancer subtype, symptom burden, time since diagnosis, and patient preference. Current guidelines emphasize the importance of shared decision-making and multidisciplinary collaboration. By integrating these principles into survivorship care, clinicians can move beyond outdated assumptions and better address the complex needs of breast cancer survivors experiencing menopause
