Synthesizing Non-Natural Palladium-Amino Acid Complexes: Structural Analysis and Potential for Anticancer Biological Activity
This project focuses on synthesizing novel palladium complexes with various non-natural amino acid (AA) ligands. After synthesis is completed, these complexes will be characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Powder X-ray Diffraction, and the Kirby-Bauer Disk Diffusion Susceptibility Test; these data will be discussed and evaluated. The complexes will then be tested to determine their catalytic activity and biological activity; specifically their anticancer properties will be evaluated for potential utilization in future medical applications
ADHD and its Relationship with Impulsivity and Delay of Gratification in Terms of Reward Seeking
Abstract
ADHD is one of the most common disorders in the world with a prevalence rate between 8-12%. Previous research has shown potential struggles for those with ADHD when it comes to being able to delay their behaviors in multiple facets of their lives. These studies have investigated their ability to fulfill waiting periods in both physical and technology based tasks, as well as incorporating impulsivity levels into the mix. The present study utilized a self-report survey to measure participants\u27 risk for ADHD (ASRS), and placed them into a high risk or low risk category based on their scores. These two groups were evaluated on their impulsivity levels (BIS-11), ability to delay gratification (DGI-35), number of comorbidities, and average daily screen time, all via self-report. Utilizing independent-samples t-tests it was found that as hypothesized, participants in the high risk of ADHD group expressed worse ability to delay gratification, as well as higher screen time. Going against the hypotheses, there were no statistically significant differences between high risk and low risk in terms of impulsivity scores. No significant main effect was found in the number of comorbidities and ADHD risk groups when looking at impulsivity. The results show consistency with a multitude of previous research within this same domain, expressing the difficulties ADHD presents in terms of fulfilling waiting periods and achieving significant rewards. These findings provide support that ADHD influences decision making and show why it is critical to be understanding and patient of those with this condition, while trying to strengthen their ability to have a futuristic mindset about the decisions and choices they make.

Assessing the Impact: Cerebral Palsy on Domains of Quality of Life
Introduction Cerebral palsy (CP) is characterized by a group of permanent movement and posture disorders resulting from nonprogressive disturbances in the developing fetal or infant brain. CP is a chronic condition affecting approximately 1.2–2.5 per 1000 school-aged children, often accompanied by comorbidities such as visual, auditory, and feeding impairments, delayed language development, and epilepsy. These related challenges can markedly reduce a child’s quality of life (QoL), particularly when compounded by social and environmental limitations. Despite the importance of understanding QoL outcomes in this population, limited region-specific data exist. Understanding domain-specific QoL can guide targeted rehabilitation planning.
Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted at a special school in North India. Thirteen children aged 4–12 years diagnosed with CP participated in the study based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Primary carers completed the CerebralPalsy Quality of Life Questionnaire for Children (Parent Proxy version) after providing informed consent. This questionnaire assesses seven QoL domains: social well-being and acceptance, feelings about functioning, participation and physical health, emotional well-being and self-esteem, access to services, pain and impact of disability, and family health. Scores were normal- ized to a 0–100 scale. Descriptive statistics were calculated to assess differences by age and gender.
Results The mean age of participants was 9.92 ± 1.72 years, with 69.2% being male. The domain scores were highest in social well-being and acceptance (71.02 ± 10.80) and emotional well-being (68.33 ± 17.12), whereas the lowest scores were found in participation and physical health (52.26 ± 16.57) and family health (68.75 ± 20.39). Male children reported higher QoL in most domains, whereas female participants reported higher scores in family health and access to services. The small sample size limited statistical significance across demographic subgroups.
Conclusion Children with CP showed better QoL in social and emotional domains but lower scores in physical participation and family health. These findings limit the importance of inclusive education and family-centered interventions. Larger and more varied samples are needed in future research to enhance the generalizability of results. Integration of rehabilitation services tailored to family-centered care could play a major role in improving QoL outcomes
Teaching Medical English to Non-Native Speakers Involved in Healthcare: A Review of Challenges, Practical Solutions, and Implications
Background Teaching medical English to non-native speakers presents challenges that go beyond standard English language instruction. These include specialized medical vocabulary, complex syntax, and the crucial role of culturally appropriate communication in healthcare settings. Such factors can negatively impact learning outcomes and the quality of patient care.
Objective This review aims to identify the key challenges faced by non-native speakers in learning medical English and explore practical, evidence-based solutions to address these obstacles.
Methodology This is a narrative review conducted to review the various literature concerning medical English teaching for non-native speakers. PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science were used for the database searching, and over 100 articles were downloaded for the general screening.
Results The review showed that vocabulary complexity, syntactic intricacies, pronunciation, and cultural communication significantly hinder non-native speakers’ proficiency by 75%, 65%, 70%, and 60% in medical English, compared to 30%, 25%, 40%, and 20% in general English, respectively, for non-native speakers. Key practical solutions identified include the implementation of several approaches, such as immersive learning experiences, peer-assisted learning, targeted phonetic training, and culturally sensitive communication strategies. This has been shown to enhance the learning process and improve patients’ interactions in healthcare settings.
Conclusion Addressing the challenges of teaching medical English to non-native speakers requires unique educational frameworks and tailored instructional methods. Implementing these solutions is crucial for enhancing healthcare communication, ensuring patient safety, and fostering effective patient interaction with healthcare providers
The Use of Methylene Blue in Patients with Refractory Circulatory Shock
ABSTRACT
This review evaluates the efficacy of Methylene Blue (MB) in managing refractory circulatory shock, a condition where conventional therapies often prove insufficient. MB is now recognized for its ability to reverse the vasodilation effects of shock states, where it was previously only used for methemoglobinemia, Metformin toxicity, and anaphylaxis. Systematic research of medical databases identified studies assessing the cost-effectiveness, treatment efficacy, and effects on morbidity and mortality of MB. MB has been shown to improve outcomes by decreasing ICU and hospital stays, lowering mortality, and reducing the requirement for high-dose vasopressors, thereby minimizing associated complications. Despite promising results, small sample sizes and restricted scope of available studies underscore the necessity for further investigation prior to broad clinical integration. This review underscores MB’s potential to improve outcomes in refractory shock and supports its consideration as an adjunct therapy in critical care practice.

Telehealth and Alcohol Use Disorder: Improving Engagement and Treatment Outcomes
Alcohol use disorder (AUD) contributes to more than 140,000 deaths annually in the United States, yet remains widely undertreated due to stigma, geographic isolation, and limited specialty access. The rapid expansion of telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic offers new opportunities to address these gaps. This review examines evidence on the effectiveness of telehealth interventions in expanding access to care and enhancing engagement, retention, and relapse prevention among adults with AUD.
A literature search identified 12 peer-reviewed studies published between 2019 and 2025 examining video counseling, mobile applications, and telephone-based interventions for AUD. Included studies comprised randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and implementation studies selected for relevance, quality, and clinical applicability.
Findings indicate video-based interventions improve engagement in rural populations, while app-based models yield lower retention among older adults. Relapse outcomes are mixed, influenced by study design and follow-up duration. One randomized trial (n = 581) reported a 30% increase in six-month treatment retention with video therapy compared with in-person care (65% vs 50%; p = 0.02). Another trial evaluating a smartphone application linked to a Bluetooth breathalyzer (n = 446) found a 38% reduction in heavy-drinking days over 12 weeks (mean 5.3 days vs 8.5 days; p \u3c 0.001).

Health experts increasingly recognize oral health as a vital part of overall health. Periodontal disease, dental caries, and chronic oral inflammation contribute to systemic illnesses, including, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and respiratory disorders.1,3-6,8-11 Despite this growing evidence, dental care remains separate mainly from mainstream medicine, limiting opportunities for prevention, early intervention, and coordinated treatment
