The Impact of a Ketogenic- Style Diet on Lipid and Cholesterol Profiles
The primary purpose of this research article is to establish whether a ketogenic style diet (KD) can mitigate hyperlipidemia (HLD), and as a result hypercholesterolemia, as an alternative to pharmacologic therapy. Pharmacologic therapy refers to statin medications, fenofibrate (fibric acid), and ezetimibe, an antilipemic agent. Google Scholar, PubMed, and MDPI Open Source were the primary search engines used, and filters included journals, articles, and books published within the past five years when possible. Of the resources reviewed, the primary outcomes indicated that short-term use of a KD had variable effects on total cholesterol, however caused an increase in low-density lipoprotein (LDL). A notable benefit to the KD was an overall improvement in metabolic health and decreased body mass index.
The bulk of the population used in the numerous studies reviewed consisted of individuals without comorbidities or cardiovascular disease, and the population sizes were small, thus limiting the applicability of the research. The results of this research imply that there is potential for a holistic, diet-based approach to managing and preventing hypercholesterolemia. Managing hypercholesterolemia with diet absent pharmacologic intervention lends to a healthier population, and less financial burden on patients and the healthcare system. Diet modification may facilitate overall improvement in health and encourage better nutritional and health education, potentiating improved preventative health practices. Further research should include larger population sizes, with a combined focus on metabolic improvements and improved overall health in relation to total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and LDL. Further studies should also compare periods of KD and periods of statin therapy in the same patient population with both objective measurements and subjective results

ABSTRACT
Burnout among Physician Associates (PAs) is a pervasive occupational hazard with far-reaching consequences for clinician well-being, patient safety, and the sustainability of healthcare systems. This doctoral project examines the multifaceted nature of PA burnout, focusing on its impact on mental and physical health, clinical performance, team dynamics, and workforce retention. A structured literature review of peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 revealed consistent associations between burnout and emotional exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and diminished job satisfaction. These symptoms impair decision-making, reduce empathy, and elevate the risk of medical errors—factors that compromise patient outcomes and disrupt collaborative care.
The review identified numerous high-quality sources examining burnout among PAs and comparable advanced practice providers. Findings indicate that burnout contributes to rising attrition rates and recruitment challenges, posing a threat to the long-term viability of the PA profession. Despite its prevalence, burnout remains underrecognized and undertreated, hindered by the limited availability of diagnostic tools and a lack of research specific to the specialty. Addressing this issue requires a coordinated response from individuals, healthcare organizations, and professional bodies to implement evidence-based interventions, foster resilience, and cultivate supportive work environments.
This study emphasizes the significance of recognizing and mitigating burnout in PAs—not only to safeguard clinician health but also to preserve care quality and ensure the resilience of the healthcare workforce. Proactive, systemic action is essential to safeguard both providers and the future of healthcare

This topic is crucial in healthcare because it ensures medical care aligns with patient values, preferences, and priorities. A thorough search of comprehensive electronic databases was conducted, including an electronic search using PubMed and Google Scholar. While clinicians receive extensive training on how to identify and treat illnesses, communication techniques especially those centering around emotion-laden topics such as end-of-life care are limited. A consensus, operational approach can facilitate communication concerning serious medical illness to patients, families, and clinicians and provide the framework for researchers developing interventions to improve goal-concordant care

Innovation in Active Learning: Evaluating the Flipped Classroom Method in Physician Associate Education
The purpose of this review article aims to explore the effect of innovative, active learning methods, such as the flipped classroom, compared to traditional lectures to assess whether academic performance and learning outcomes are improved and result in better student engagement and knowledge retention. A literature search using the PubMed database was conducted. Six journal articles were identified that provided evidence to support the purpose of the article review. Findings demonstrated a higher academic performance in the flipped classroom. Results showed test scores were significantly higher for a majority of the flipped classroom courses. Research also indicated the opportunity for the flipped classroom approach to increase the performance of less experienced learners. Students favored active learning techniques in class, and studies indicated the flipped classroom had a positive impact on student achievement and engagement. The implications were significant, with research highlighting the benefits of active learning techniques over traditional practices. Engaging learners using active learning methods, such as the flipped classroom, has shown some benefit in improving academic performance. However, there was no evidence of longitudinal studies evaluating the flipped classroom approach and PA student retention of acquired knowledge. This underscores the need for additional research. Exploring the effect of active learning strategies on clinical practice is also a research topic that could demonstrate whether there is a direct connection between teaching strategies and improved patient care outcomes. This information could shape how new PA educators approach the learning experience and provide further evidence to seasoned faculty about the importance of using innovative strategies to support professional growth
