Background & Objectives- Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is individual and one of the most communal and serious condition come under childhood muscular dystrophies. The incidence of DMD is 1:3500 births of males. It is an X-linked recessive disorder that occurs due to deletion or alteration of dystrophin protein, which is encoded by DMD Gene on Xp21 chromosome. As per the view of Ayurveda, we can consider this disorder as chromosomal hereditary anomalies (Bheejabhagahaavyava dushti janya Adibalapravtrutta vyadhi). Main objective of this case report was reduce the complaints of patient and improve the quality of life. Method and Material- The present study is about the management of DMD as per Ayurveda perspective. An 11 years old male child, has complaints of difficulty in walking, frequent falls while walking, difficulty in sitting or squatting. On Ayurvedic management principles, the present case was managed with palliative care (Shaman) and bio-cleansing therapy (ShodhanChiktsa). Result- After treatment, there was a significant improvement in complaints with signs and symptoms. Interpretation and conclusion- Though we are unable to rule out the disposition of genes through Ayurveda treatment modalities such as internal medicines, 5 detoxification procedures (Panchakarma) procedures, traction etc. we can effectively prolong the deterioration and improve the quality of life with correction in diet and lifestyle as per Ayurveda principles

The effect of Anal Sevana (exposure to heat) on Raktavaha srotas: A Case Control Study
Background: Occupational hazard is any workplace condition that causes a risk to employee health. In recent era, a lot of research work is being done on occupational hazards of which continuous exposure to heat is one of the major factors affecting occupational health. A human being has been exposed to heat through various sources like chemicals, forging works etc. Industrial heat when combined with manual work may often make adverse effects on health of the workers and mostly it affects the Raktvaha Srotas according to Ayurved. In this study, attempt had been made to find out what is the percentage of predominance of symptoms of Raktavaha Srotodushti in individuals having continuous exposure to heat. Method: A case control study was carried out in 150 workers from leading manufacturer of Upset forgings and Drop forgings in Pune industrial zone to find out association between exposure to heat and Raktavaha srotodushti symptoms, study group 100 workers (direct exposure to heat), control group 50 workers and filled a questionnaire consisting of symptoms related to raktavaha srotas vititation due to heat exposure. Result: Number of symptoms present in the study group were more than that present in control group. Redness of eyes (100%), thirst (100%), sweating (100%), mental irritation (69%) etc. other Raktavaha srotodushti lakshanas were also observed. Conclusion: Exposure to heat is one of the major causative factors of vitiation of Raktavaha Srotas. Raktavaha srotodushti lakshanas like mukhpaka, shirarshul, santapa, raktapitta observed moderately and vidradhi, pidaka were observed very rarely. To prevent the effects of continuous exposure to heat, the individuals should take preventive majors as prescribed in Ayurveda.
Gridhrasi (Sciatica) – Ayurveda Management
Gridhrasi has become a common disease in today’s times. It is one amongst the “eighty diseases of Vata”. ‘Gridhra’ refers to “Vulture” where the patient acquires the gait of vulture and hence the disease is termed as Gridhrasi. In this case, classical gait refers to ‘slight lean’ towards the affected part of body. The clinical feature of Gridhrasi is, low back pain which radiates from the hip, to the posterior aspect of thigh, and down to leg. It can be correlated to “Sciatica” in modern medicine. Sciatica, is a painful condition, in which, pain starts in the lumbar area, and radiates along the course of the sciatic nerve. This article highlights a case study of Gridhrasi, treated with Ayurvedic principles in particular Shodhana Chikitsa; the therapy which expels out the morbid Doshas from the body. Shodhan chikitsa helps in eradicating the disease from its root level, that avoids its recurrence in future. Here, is a case study of 72 years old, male patient having signs and symptoms of Gridhrasi since 2 years. The patient was admitted and managed with Shodhana (purification) along with Shamana (pacification) Chikitsa. Basti was administered for a duration of 30 days. Ushna virya aushadis were used mainly for Agni Deepan, Aampachan and Srotoshodhan. The results with rationality have been depicted in this article
Management of severe Covid-19 cases through Ayurveda: A Case series
The rampant destruction due to COVID is going on. So far, in modern medical system, there is no proven cure for COVID-19. The only relevant literature on the treatment of corona virus disease comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM , which is widely used to control epidemics in China, is also composed of kinds of herbs similar to Ayurveda. There is reportedly a high death rate from severe COVID-19 infection requiring oxygen support. The chest severity score as assessed by computed tomography has predictive value for future outcomes in such situations. This paper is an observational (retrospective) study of COVID-19 condition of three patient receiving Ayurvedic treatment entirely without use of any allopathic drug. There is this case series of 3 patients, 32 years old male, 38 years old female and 70 years old female. These cases were managed on the principle of Sannipatika Jwar (type of fever) along with Shwas (type of respiratory illness) with administration of Hirak bhasma, Trailokya chintamani ras, Maha lakshmi vilas ras, Abhrak bhasma, Shwaskas chintamani ras, Praval pishti, Chandramrita ras, Sitopladi churna, Mahalaxmivilas ras, Sameerpannag ras, Tab Shwas kalpa and Syp Whooping for about 10 days in different combination in these patients. The treatment resulted in complete remission of almost all the signs and symptoms. The cases were followed up after next 15 days and there were no remnant symptoms. The cases also advocated for an early Ayurvedic intervention institution for COVID-19 in prevention, deterioration and complications

Pharmaceutico-Analytical study of Karaviradya taila
Introduction: Sneha kalpana (oleaginous preparations) is commonly prescribed Ayurvedic dosage form and it is the preparation of various kinds of medicated oils and ghee. Karaviradya taila is medicated oil preparation used externally in the form of abhyanga (massage) for lomashatana (depilation). Objectives: To prepare and carry out the physico-chemical analysis of karaviradya taila. Materials and Methods: Karaviradya taila was prepared by general method of taila kalpana i.e ¼:1:4 and analytical study like organoleptic characters and physico- chemical parameters were carried out based on the references available in the laboratory guide for the analysis of Ayurveda and Siddha formulation. Results and Discussion: The total oil obtained was 85% and the loss was 15%. Organoleptic characters of karaviradya taila showed translucent green viscous liquid with alkaline odor, Physico- chemical parameters like pH, specific gravity, viscosity, total suspended solids, and refractive index were tested. The increased Saponification value of karaviradya taila indicates the rate of absorption, low acid value of karaviradya taila indicates less chance of decomposition of taila. Evaporation of moisture contents in karaviradya taila leads to the decrease in rancidity factors. Peroxide value and iodine value of karaviradya taila indicates the primary oxidation. Conclusion: Karaviradya taila is a sneha kalpana mainly indicated for loma shatana (depilation). Local applications is beneficial because they are quickly absorbable, protect the skin and promotes percutaneous absorption of incorporated drug. The results of pharmaceutical and analytical study of karaviradya taila can be considered as the preliminary standards for the preparation of karaviradya taila.

A Novel Physical Therapy Approach for Grade 2 Degenerative Arthritis A Case Report
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease of the joint characterized by reduced joint space, osteophyte formation, and subchondral sclerosis of bone. Due to a sedentary lifestyle, the incidence of osteoarthritis is increasing. In the initial stages of OA, a mild reduction in joint space with or without osteophyte formation is seen on X-ray. Pain and stiffness are the main findings in this stage. In this case report, we presented a case of 60 years female patient having pain in the right knee for since2 years which was intermittent. One month back, her pain got aggravated. Because of this, she was not able to do her household work. Came to AVBRH for treatment. Physiotherapy assessment was done according to her x-ray correlating with Kallgren and Lawrence classification; she was having grade 2 osteoarthritis of the knee. Physiotherapy treatment using contrast bath therapy and the Otago exercise program was started showing significant improvement in her symptoms
