Experimental Shear Study on Reinforced High Strength Concrete Beams Made Using Blended Cement
With the increased application of High Strength Concrete (HSC) inconstruction and lack of proper guidelines for structural design in India, behavioral study of high strength concrete is an important aspect ofresearch. Research on the behavior of HSC reinforced beams with concretestrength more than 60 MPa has been carried out in the past and is stillcontinuing to understand the structural behavior of HSC beams. Along withthe many benefits of the high strength concrete, the more brittle behavior isof concern which leads to sudden failure. This paper presents the behaviorof reinforced HSC beams in shear with considering the effects of variousfactors like shear reinforcement ratio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio, l/dratio (length to depth ratio), etc. Ten numbers Reinforced Concrete Beamsof various sizes using concrete mix with three different w/c ratios (0.46, 0.26and 0.21) were cast for shear strength assessment. The beams were tested insimply supported condition over two fixed steel pedestals with load rate of0.2 mm/minute in displacement control. Mid-point deflection was measuredusing LVDT. A comparative analysis of theoretical approaches of Eurocode, extension of current IS code up to M90 and the experimental datawas done to understand the behavior of beams. Shear capacities of beamswithout any factors of safety were used to assess the actual capacities andthen was compared with the experimental capacity obtained. Results ofthis study can be used in the design of high strength concrete and will bemore reliable in Indian continent as the regional materials and exposureconditions were considered

Analysis and Assessment of Selected Iranian Contemporary Buildings by Well-Building Criteria
Aims: Pandemics have brought about new conditions to today’s life and designing well-buildings is now a priority. However, having a peek at the prior studies reveals that the most important issue in this area is the disharmony among the different elements of well-buildings. The main objective of this article is addressing the complexities of studying all requirements of such buildings. Methods: The main means of undertaking this research are case studies, indeed. First, the ten selected cases will be analyzed by means of the theoretical framework of this research. Then, the results shall be discussed based upon the fundamental design theory, and finally practical resolutions will be suggested. Findings: Seven fundamental elements including Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind are all simply achievable separately; however, an analysis of the case studies has revealed that gathering them all together would not be an easy task to undertake. Conclusions: This study has revealed that the problem of mingling and uniting these seven principal elements is serious and it is rather difficult to put together such elements, simultaneously. Finally, design approach to the very principles is the most important suggestion of this study since it is clear that in the world of architecture, unification is of high importance. Therefore, the secret to the beauty of healthy architecture is the unification of design of all the element
Failure Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Damage Mechanics and Classical Laminate Theory
The prediction of the behavior of reinforced concrete beams under bending is essential for the perfect design of these elements. Usually, the classical models do not incorporate the physical nonlinear behavior of concrete under tension and compression, which can underestimate the deformations in the structural element under short and long-term loads. In the present work, a variational formulation based on the Finite Element Method is presented to predict the flexural behavior of reinforced concrete beams. The physical nonlinearity due cracking of concrete is considered by utilization of damage concept in the definition of constitutive models, and the lamination theory it is used in discretization of section cross of beams. In the layered approach, the reinforced concrete element is formulated as a laminated composite that consists of thin layers, of concrete or steel that has been modeled as elasticperfectly plastic material. The comparison of numerical load-displacement results with experimental results found in the literature demonstrates a good approximation of the model and validates the application of the damage model in the Classical Laminate Theory to predict mechanical failure of reinforced concrete beam. The results obtained by the numerical model indicated a variation in the stress–strain behavior of each beam, while for under-reinforced beams, the compressive stresses did not reach the peak stress but the stress–strain behavior was observed in the nonlinear regime at failure, for the other beams, the concrete had reached its ultimate strain, and the beam’s neutral axis was close to the centroid of the cross-section
Dynamic Reliability Assessment of Heavy Vehicle Crossing a Prototype Bridge Deck by Using Simulation Technology and Health Monitoring Data
Overloads of vehicle may cause damage to bridge structures, and how to assess the safety influence of heavy vehicles crossing the prototype bridge is one of the challenges. In this report, using a large amount of monitored data collected from the structural health monitoring system (SHMS) in service of the prototype bridge, of which the bridge type is large-span continuous rigid frame bridge, and adopting FEM simulation technique, we suggested a dynamic reliability assessment method in the report to assess the safety impact of heavy vehicles on the prototype bridge during operation. In the first place, by using the health monitored strain data, of which the selected monitored data time range is before the opening of traffic, the quasi dynamic reliability around the embedded sensor with no traffic load effects is obtained; then, with FEM technology, the FEM simulation model of one main span of the prototype bridge is built by using ANSYS software and then the dynamic reliability when the heavy vehicles crossing the prototype bridge corresponding to the middle-span web plate is comprehensively analyzed and discussed. At last, assuming that the main beam stress state change is in the stage of approximately linear elasticity under heavy vehicle loads impact, the authors got the impact level of heavy vehicles effects on the dynamic reliability of the prototype bridge. Based on a large number of field measured data, the dynamic reliability value calculated by our proposed methodology is more accurate. The method suggested in the paper can do good for not only the traffic management but also the damage analysis of bridges
Optimization of Secure Coding Practices in SDLC as Part of Cybersecurity Framework
Cybersecurity is a global goal that is central to national security planning in many countries. One of the most active research fields is design of practices for the development of so-called highly secure software as a kind of protection and reduction of the risks from cyber threats. The use of a secure software product in a real environment enables the reduction of the vulnerability of the system as a whole. It would be logical to find the most optimal solution for the integration of secure coding in the classic SDLC (software development life cycle). This paper aims to suggest practices and tips that should be followed for secure coding, in order to avoid cost and time overruns because of untimely identification of security issues. It presents the implementation of secure coding practices in software development, and showcases several real-world scenarios from different phases of the SDLC, as well as mitigation strategies. The paper covers techniques for SQL injection mitigation, authentication management for staging environments, and access control verification using JSON Web Tokens
Implementation of Distributed Control System for Rice Mill Using C#
The paper presents the distributed control system for rice mill using C# language. The real-time manufacturing system can be implemented by utilizing the signal from the real time control units that is more operative than other old-fashioned control systems in the extent of modern industrial days. The software-based Distributed Control System (DCS) is novel fashionable than any other conventional control systems in the state-ofthe-art manufacturing developments. This research study emphasizes on the implementation of the DCS-based rice mill using visual C#.net. The Industrial Ethernet (IE) is realized between the top level controller for the operator and the controlled station for the remote devices. The model of client-server approach is more appropriate for the automation and manufacturing research purposes. Application of Management Accounting in Company Sustainability
This report illustrates how management accounting can be used in helping an organization reach sustainability by applying four main tools in management accounting to a dairy company. These tools are LifeCycle Analysis, Identification of Relevant Costs, Activity-Based Costing (ABC) System and Balancing Score Card, all of which can help qualify and consequently quantify the various costs (including environmental costs) incurred during the operation of a company. Besides that, the above tools can also be utilised in a company’s decision-making processes by the man-agement team. Thus, it is suggested that companies integrate these tools into their reporting system. This report illustrates the definition of a sustainable organization in the beginning, followed by detailed descriptions of the four management accounting tools, together with their applications to a diary company. The report ends with a summary on which type of role each tool plays in the re-porting system
Redesign Facility Layout with a Kaizen Approach in Testing Laboratory at Balai Pengujian & Sertifikat Mutu Barang Makassar
In trading activities, especially exports in the food commodities sector, several documents must be made and completed by exporters, such as Certificate of Quality, Test-Certificate, and Chemical Analysis. Balai Pengujian & Sertifikasi Mutu Barang Makassar is a government agency operating in South Celebes that tests the quality of various agricultural and plantation commodities. From year to year, demand for testing services has increased along with the number of exports. So, testing activities have changed in terms of facility layout requirements resulting in overwhelmed in carrying out the testing process. Test rooms are not connected based on the current testing flow causing the tester’s ineffective work patterns. This study aims to redesign the layout of the facilities in the testing laboratory with the Kaizen approach to support the smooth testing process. The results of this study indicate that the proposed floor area uses a 150% allowance so the calculation requires a floor area of 42.52 m2 . After that, an analysis of the proximity of the facilities is carried out by making ARC (Activity Relationship Chart) and ARD (Activity Relationship Diagram). Based on ARD, a template is made for the layout of testing laboratory facilities. This study applies Kaizen theory with the 5S concept to obtain a neater design, namely Seiri and Seiton in the refreshment laboratory and weighing room, Seiso on testing equipment in all testing laboratory rooms, Seiketsu and Shitsuke applied to all rooms in the testing laboratory
