    PENGARUH KONSENTRASI DAN INTERVAL PEMBERIAN PUPUK DAUN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN CEPLUKAN (PHYSALIS MINIMA LINN) DI PEMBIBITAN

    The study of interval of application and concentration of leaves fertilizer has been conducted to stimulate the ciplukan (Physalis minima Linn.) growth on the nursery. The study carried out in the research garden of Medicinal Plant and Traditional Medicine Research Institute from July to September 2006. The research was arranged on Randomized Complete Block Design and two factors of treatment i.e. interval of application and concentration of leaves fertilizer with three replication. The result shows that concentration and interval of application of leaves fertilizer's effect to the growth of ciplukan in the nursery. Interaction of the treatments effect on the weight of root. Five days of interval application of leaves fertilization and 3 cc/l of concentration effect the growth of ciplukan seedling better than others treatments. The highest of seedling (10,78 cm), the highest number of trunk (13,3) and the highest of dry weight (14,6 g) was gain with the 2 cc/l concentration of leaves fertilizer application. The highest of root dry weight (8 gram) was gain with the 5 days of leaves fertilizer application and 2 cc/l of concentration.   Kata kunci: Consentration, interval, leaves fertilizer, cepluka

    Efek Anti Ulkus Eurycoma longifolia terhadap Ulkus Lambung Tikus

    Eurycoma longifolia (pasak bumi) are widely found in East Kalimantan. Etnobotanically, the roots of this plant were used to decrease gastric pain and anti ulcers, but scientific evidences have not been available yet. The objective of this research was to test the anti-ulcer effect of Eurycoma longifolia against gas­ tric ulcers in rats. Water extract of Eurycoma longifolia's root was given to the rats before induced gastric ulcer. The rats were induced gastric ulcer by giving acetyl salicylic acid orally and pyloric-ligation. The result showed that water extract of Eurycoma longifolia's root could prevent from increase of gastric ulcer index and decrease of gastric mucosa in rats induced gastric ulcer by acetyl salicylic acid, prevent from increase of free gastric acid in rats pyloric ligated. This research concluded that water extract of Eurycoma longifolia has anti-ulcer effect against gastric ulcers in rats induced by acetyl salicylic acid and pyloric­ ligation.   Key Word: Eurycoma longifolia, antiulcer, gastriculce

    RESPON Piper retrofractum Vahl. TERHADAP APLIKASI EKSTRAK BAWANG MERAH DAN MEDIA

    Piper retrofractum Vahl. propagation by cutting has been restricted by the forma­tion limitation of roots and shoot buds of cutting. The application of growth regu­lator exogenously and media might increase root and shoot formation. Exogenous growth regulator can be extracted from plant such as shallot. Suitable media for plant growth might increase plant root development. The objective of this research was to devise the combination of shallot extract and media for optimum growth of Piper retrofractum Vahl. This research was conducted at the research station of Agriculture Faculty, University of Bengkulu from July to December 2004. The elevation was 10 m above sea level. The experiment used Completely Randomized design with 2 factors. First factor was shallot extract concentration comprising of four levels, 0, 500, 1000, and 1500 g/L of water. Second factor was media consisting of soil, sugarcane pulp, water hyacinth, and peat. All the data were analyzed using ANOVA and means were separated by Orthogonal Polynomial. The results showed that peat medium combined with each of the concentration of shallot extract of 800 g/L water, 975 g/L water, 850 g/L water, 630 g/L water, and 820 g/L water produced the optimum number of roots (5.06), the longest root (13.27 cm), the longest shoot (21.52 cm), the maximum number of leaves (12.44), and the greenest leaves (55.82), respectively

    AKTIVITAS KONTRAKTILITAS AORTA PADA EKSTRAK DAUN Androgrophis paniculata

    Andrographis paniculata leaves are often used as an anti-hypertension medicine. However, its effects in the blood vessels are not clearly known. This research was aimed to measure the activities of Andrographis paniculata leaves extract on blood vessels contractility. Andrographis paniculata leaves were macerated with CHCl3:  Me-OH (1:1), and tested for ther effects on the contractility of the isolated organ of rabbit's aortic ring with endothelium. The result showed that Andrographis paniculata leaves extract didn't cause tone change and increase dilatation response on the isolated organ of rabbit's aortic ring with endothelium. Andrographis paniculata didn't have direct vasodilatation on blood vessels in vitro.   Keywords: Andrographis paniculata, contractility, aortic rin

    PENGARUH WAKTU PENGERINGAN TERHADAP KADAR TANIN DAUN JATI BELANDA (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.)

    The study of drying period to tannin content on Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk. was conduted to asses the optimal perod of drying as well as the maximum tannin content on the raw material. Both sun and oven drying are commonly applied in post harvest handling, but this study used only oven-dried (400C) for the following time: 6, 7, 8 hours. The tannin content was determined by spectrophotometry UV­-Vis (Folin Dennis and saturated Natrium Carbonat). Qualitative assessment analyzed by colour and sedimentation reaction. The qualitative analysis result showed that H2SO4 changed into brown, HCl changed into greenish yellow, FeCl3 changed into blackish blue, and albumin solution and gelatin induced a sediment. Quantitative analysis result showed that on 6 hours treatment (0.4833 ± 0.0254)% w/w, on 7 hours (0.5684  + 0.0096)% w/w and on 8 hours (0.6440 ± 0.0184)% w/w. Data were analyzed by one way ANOVA followed by T-Test. It was concluded that the periodof drying influenced the tannin content of Guazuma ulmifolia.
