Veteran Focused Equine Facilitated Mental Health
No full textThis dissertation reports on explanatory sequential mixed methods study that sought to understand the effectiveness of a veteran focused equine facilitated mental health (VF-EFMH) program. Forty-nine exit surveys from one specific VF-EFMH program that was offered ten separate times between 2013 and 2017 were analyzed using SPSS software. Results from this analysis suggest that VF-EFMH is effective for reducing depression and anxiety and is of value for participants. Interviews were then conducted with six former participants of the program offerings. Results from analyses of interviews support the quantitative results that VF-EFMH is effective for reducing depression and anxiety and is of value for participants. Further analysis revealed the themes of social connection, internal processing, and the horse are vital to the success of this type of programming
Why is Research Important to PSU and How Can the Center for Research & Innovation Help?
No full textThe newly created Center for Research & Innovation (CRI) will proactively support research/scholarship in all clusters, programs, and units. CRI integrates the Office of Research Administration (formerly ORSP), Center for the Environment, Statistical Consulting Center, and Center for Business and Community Partnerships into one hub of internal research (RAC, SRAC, etc.) and extramural research. The CRI will provide overall leadership to develop, enhance, and promote the University\u27s research/scholarship interests. A key responsibility of CRI is to provide support for faculty and students in the area of research development: strategic, capacity-building actions designed to facilitate individuals/teams in obtaining grant funding by growing partnerships and alliances between PSU and with external stakeholders. A key to RD is building the campus research culture to be as inclusive as possible, so that all disciplines are better connected and share a sense of collective purpose
