    Get PDF
Incorporating cultural elements into teaching is essential for Indonesian educators. However, a key issue currently observed is the lack of awareness among English teachers regarding the integration of cultural learning into English instruction. This study was to critically investigate how culture is represented and introduced in an English textbook at the elementary level. Cultural contents were analyzed throughout the 2021 revised edition of the English textbook for grade 5 of elementary school, published by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC). The textbook was selected due to its widespread use in Indonesian schools and its production by MOEC. To analyze the data, a semiotic critical discourse analysis approach was employed on the basis of Kachru's concentric circle framework. Moran's 4P framework, addressing products, practices, perspectives, and people, as well as Bennett's theory on cultural values, were also used to further investigate the cultural dimensions presented in the textbook. The findings revealed a significant dominance of source culture content, while the representation of target culture and foreign culture was minimal. Of the 27 cultural views analyzed, expanding circle cultures were most prevalent. Our findings also indicated that product culture was the most prominent cultural dimension. The findings suggested that cultural embedment in the textbook facilitates students to have a broader perspective of diverse culture. Recognizing and understanding the multicultural values and their representations allows Indonesian students to develop their intercultural competence, which not only introduces them to diverse cultures but also strengthens their communication skills

Analisis Kualitas Citra Steganografi Berbasis Spasial Pada Metode Least Significant Bits Dan Pixel Value Differencing

    No full text
Steganography is a method in network security systems that functions to hide confidential information by inserting it into other media without changing the authenticity of the information. One of the steganography media is images. Image steganography has two domains: spatial and frequency. The spatial domain works on the pixels of an image, and the frequency domain works on the image frequency. Spatial image steganography is said to be good if the level of stego-image damage is very small. There are several intermediate methods in spatial steganography, namely: LSB, PVD, GLM, EBE, RPE, and others. However, there are two most popular methods, namely LSB (Least Significant Bit) and PVD (Pixel Value Differencing). Therefore, this study aims to test the quality of stego-images produced by these two methods. Testing is carried out using the MSE and PSNR value parameters. A stego-image is considered good when the MSE value is close to 0 and the PSNR value is above 30 dB. From the test data used, this study produced an MSE value of 0.0006 for LSB stego-images and 0.007 for PVD stego-images. The PSNR value was 90 dB for LSB stego-images and 72 dB for PVD stego-images. This study concluded that LSB stego-images have less damage than PVD stego-images, so the researchers recommend using the LSB method in carrying out the steganography process. Keywords: Spatial;MSE;PSNR;LSB;PVDIn network security systems, there is a branch of science that studies the protection of information thru an insertion mechanism called Steganography. Steganography is a method for hiding information or messages by embedding them into a carrier medium without altering the authenticity of the medium, making it appear inconspicuous. One of these media is images. Image steganography has two domains: spatial and frequency. The spatial domain works on the pixels of an image, while the frequency domain works on the frequency of the image. In spatial domain steganography, there are several methods, including LSB, PVD, GLM, EBE, RPE, and other methods, with the two most popular being LSB (Least Significant Bit) and PVD (Pixel Value Differencing). Each of these methods produces different qualities of stego images. For that reason, this research attempts to test the quality of the stego images produced by both methods. The testing was conducted using the parameters of MSE and PSNR values. A stego image is considered good when the MSE value approaches 0 and the PSNR value is above 30 dB. From the test data used, this research produced a PSNR value of 90 dB for the LSB stego image and 72 dB for the PVD stego image. Then, the MSE value was 0.0006 for the LSB stego image and 0.007 for the PVD stego image. This research concludes that the LSB method produces better quality stego images than the PVD method in the spatial domain
