    Get PDF
Iran’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been widely introduced in the market these days. In the emerging trend of electronic data interchange, Iran’s political, economical and social issues have been diverted to a more aggressive approach to the world of e-commerce, that despite the shadowing issues of the past, Iran already internalized the promising craft of e-commerce through various IT adoption techniques and skills. In line with this, this study is aimed to the growing emergence on Iran’s SMEs and how e-commerce contributes to the success of IT adoption. (Ajdari, 2007).This paper would further identify the ways and reasons how Iran thrived to its current status as a raising e-commerce country (Powers and Carvar, 1990) It’s the main responsibility of governmental forces to enable organizational and national forces to gain dynamic control over resources and markets for a better e-Commerce take off (Moor & Benbasat, I996). Also, we will investigate fifty SMEs and surveys along with personal interviews will be conducted to locate findings, reasons, causes and effects in this regard. Study will focus on three main areas of SMEs including organizational, environmental and technological aspects. Results indicate the significant perceived value of government support in SMEs development in Iran (Dearing, 1990)

This study historically analyzes the scientific output of Mathematics to describe its structure, notions and scientific origin using the historiographical method. The research data consisted of scientific outputs of Mathematics in ISI database, Science Citation Index (SCI) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) during 8 years (1990 to 2007). The data collection tool was the search engine and the analysis part of the WOS and also HistCiteTM software. According to White (2003), the sample of the study was circa one percent of the studied data (i.e. 120 documents) that was analyzed based on two different aspects: Local Citation Score (LCS) and Global Citation Score (GCS).The research results show that with regard to Local Citation Score (LCS), five scientific clusters were formed and all of them were related to different fields of “Mathematics Education”. Based on Global Citation Score (GCS), there were no significant scientific cluster in this field, and this is while the amount of Global Citation Score was significantly more than Local Citation Score. According to the findings it seems that: 1.  The major scientific clusters and transitions in Mathematics are mostly related to theoretical fields as this issue has caused a new paradigm in this discipline. 2.  The amount of this scientific field’s influence on Applied Mathematics is much more than the non- Applied Mathematics

Faculty members of the universities and higher education institutions are considered as the most influential social classes in the development of public culture. This important feature do achieves more importance in development of social competencies. One of the important social competencies in contemporary society is the use of electronic resources that are directly related to the level of preparedness of the people. This study examines the level of readiness for e-business activities among the Universities' faculty members in Iran and the related influential factors. The research method is of descriptive-survey type. The statistical population of this study included all faculty members of Iranian University among which 122 units were selected for data collection through stratified random sampling based on Cochran formula. According to the results of this study, the readiness for e-business among the faculty members at initial application stage was obtained. Direct influence of individual factors (risk, perceived benefits, trust, knowledge, experience, function perception) and environmental factors (E's infrastructure of the country and socio-cultural factors) over readiness for e-business activities amongst the faculty members were confirmed and the related impact for each of the factors was obtained as 0.524% and 0.323% respectively

The role of information technology (IT) in shaping tomorrow’s operations is a distinctive one. The Internet is a pervasive phenomenon and it is commonly believed that the Internet and its inherent distributed capabilities lead to decentralized views. They have had profound effects on organizational structure, because organizations can gain enormous location flexibility in various activities. While the Internet has overcome distance and organizations they now have to deal with different combinations of physical and electronic spaces and places. The challenge for companies in information markets is the shift from physical to electronic infrastructures.  Many researchers believe that current models of organizational structure fail to meet the challenges of the information age. Researchers believe that the traditional hierarchy has outlived its usefulness and that new organizational models are needed and that IT lies at the heart of these new models for next century. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the Internet impacts on organizational structures and identify imperatives for new emerging forms of organizations in the light of IT advances

Virtual learning is a new idea that has gotten a new form with the emergence of new technologies such as the wireless networks. The mobile phone (cell phone) is a device that is used by most people nowadays. Therefore, one can use the mobile phone for virtual learning on a wide scale. One of the popular and at the same time simple and inexpensive services on the mobile phone is the SMS (Short Message Service). In this paper, we propose a method for taking multiple-choice quizzes by using the SMS on mobile phones. In the provision of these tests, after coding the questions with a key, some SMS messages were sent to the student along with the answers of the questions, which were steganography in an image. The student, after receiving and answering the questions, receives his grade at the client-side and then the grade and student answers are hidden in an SMS picture message and sent back to the instructor. Also, the location of student and the time that he took the exam are sent to the instructor by another SMS to prevent the possibility of any cheating. Moreover, the correct answers of the questions are destroyed within the image after they are extracted from image so as to eliminate the possibility of any cheating. The instructor also, after receiving the image and extracting the grade, records the student’s grade. Moreover, the instructor can find any cheating by comparing students locations, times they took the exam and their answers. Because of using the steganography method in sending the answers and grades, and also sending the student’s location and time of quiz, this method is highly secure and the possibility of cheating in the exam is reduced. This method was implemented with the J2ME language on a Nokia 3250 mobile phone

    Get PDF
The article discusses a trial undertaken in a LIS education program to help prepare students from different cultural backgrounds to work in virtual, multicultural work places.  The focus of the trial was developing teamwork, which may now involve global, multicultural and virtual components, for which students need to be prepared, given work place changes of recent years. The trial took place in a school of information studies at a large, multi-campus rural university in Australia.  The lecturer grouped students from an off-shore campus, with a different cultural background, with local students to work online on a group assignment. Evaluation involved an anonymous, web-based survey after all group assignments were completed. The survey explored the experiences of students regarding their group work in multicultural teams. The findings highlight the challenges of group work in fully online environments.  They include language and cultural diversity, time zone spread and lack of face-to-face communication.  Some of these challenges are likely to be replicated in the work place where multicultural team work is involved.  Some of these challenges are likely to be replicated in the work place where multicultural team work is involved.  Some suggestions to overcome these challenges are included at the end of the article

    Get PDF
The explosion of information communication technology (ICT) since the beginning of the 20th century has been rendering manual-based library system in academic, research, special and public libraries less relevant. This is because using and implementing information communication technology in the library depend largely on the librarian attitude toward the current digital age. This study examined the attitudinal correlates of some selected Nigerian Librarian towards the use and application of ICT in their various libraries. A total of 41 librarians from all the four censured automated libraries in Oyo state of Nigeria formed the study’s population. Two research questions were developed to guide the study. The results indicate that all the four out of the five variables age, gender, educational qualifications and prior knowledge of ICT significantly correlate with librarian attitude towards ICT; while the other variable ICT anxiety correlate negatively with the librarian attitude towards ICT. Findings further show that all the 5 variables significantly predict librarian’s attitude towards ICT with prior ICT experience showing the greatest predictive effect. Based on these findings, it is recommended that libraries in the developing countries should consider training those librarians who do not have knowledge of ICT in order to remove the fear and anxiety hindering them from developing good attitude towards the use of ICT in their libraries

ALIASING IN INFORMATION PROCESSING AND INTERPOLATING RANDOM SIGNALS BY CUBIC SPLINE

    No full text
This paper  considersthe problem of  aliasing in information processing. The cubic spline method of interpolating the uniformly sampled signals and its effects on the autocorrelation estimation as well as the resulting spectral density function are studied by simulating random signals with known autocorrelation functions. Hence, by comparison of aliased and alias-free cases, indications are deduced from suspection to aliasing, especially in those situations that aliasing is present but the Nyquist frequency is not too far apart from the main peaks in the signal
