An Area Studies Project for EFL College Students
This paper is a report on a multi-faceted learning project in which students collect information about local tourist attractions in Gifu City that would be of interest to visitors from foreign countries. The context provides students with a variety of ‘real’ learning opportunities. By increasing their knowledge of local culture, history, events, and business, they then become prepared to promote the local area by sharing this information through online social media posts. Students also have opportunities to provide further information and participate in real communication with an online audience.departmental bulletin pape
ポスターに描かれた女性像と女性グラフィックデザイナーの台頭
This study explored what can be seen when the ʻimages of women on postersʼ and the ʻrise of female graphic designersʼ are overviewed in chronological order. In the 19th century, the designers and their standards of beauty were also men's. Women's rights and freedoms, were gradually recognised, and during the war, women were sought out to replace men in the workforce. In the post-war period, women designers gradually expanded their fields of activity, and as a result, posters that appealed to women's empathy were seen. However, surveys of the designer population and media exposure show that there is still a gender gap in Japan in terms of positions, income and media exposure. In terms of feminist posters, in Japan, feminist posters themselves and movements are not so common. The number of female designers and posters with a genderequality perspective should be further expanded in the future. This requires a feminist perspective in graphic design education.departmental bulletin pape
