Uganda’s post-COVID recovery strategy & NDC implementation
This paper analyses the climate friendliness of Uganda’s post-COVID-19 recovery strategy and, specifically, its alignment with the country’s targets in its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The recovery strategy has the potential to provide effective climate change response and meet the NDCs. However, there are several gaps related to the marginalisation of climate action in the economic recovery resource-allocation process, the ability of macroeconomic recovery strategies to advance a genuinely green and resilient economy, and limited fiscal space to invest in a climate-sensitive recovery. The paper concludes with policy recommendations on encouraging a robust economic recovery through actions that champion Uganda’s NDC commitments
Transforming livestock vaccine delivery in Ghana for women
French version available in IDRC Digital Library: Transformer la fourniture de vaccins pour le bétail en faveur des femmes au GhanaIn Ghana, 3 million farmers depend on livestock farming for food and income. However, Newcastle disease, peste des petits ruminants and contagious caprine pleuropneumonia, result in high mortality rates in goats and poultry, and reduced incomes for the women that depend on these small livestock. Whilst vaccines are available, uptake is affected by poor demand from farmers, cold chain constraints, and insufficient trained vets to administer vaccines. Delivery systems also do not account for women's needs. To increase vaccine uptake amongst women, the Women Rear project is working to overcome barriers faced by women livestock farmers and animal health service providers (AHSPs) - whilst also strengthening infrastructure for more equitable vaccine delivery

Gendered Design in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in lower- and middle-income countries (LMIC)
The Gendered Design in STEAM (GDS) research Program subsumed the approaches of design, arts, and social sciences to enhance gender aware and inclusive research amongst twenty academic teams of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) located in lower- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The empirical exploration supported the emergence of a transdisciplinary area of research and practice which we defined as ‘gendered design’. The key factors that proved crucial to overcome the disciplinary boundaries and catalyse processes of empowerment were: theoretical and methodological openness, design-driven strategies, and experimentations, as well as a holistic and affective approach to collaborations and relationships
