Integrated testing for TB and COVID-19
Integrated testing for TB and COVID-19 may help find those TB patients who are not accessing care in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some molecular platforms with assays for both diseases are already commercially available; however, integrated testing approaches need to be systematically evaluated to ensure their appropriate implementation
Social science and COVID-19 : the Southeast Asia response
The outbreak of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia, as in the rest of the world, has exposed the interaction of biological and socioeconomic processes; the implications of health and socioeconomic inequity on well-being; and the structural ramifications of public health and healthcare governance. Despite its biological origins, understanding the pandemic, and controlling and reducing its human costs, requires a dynamic and granular knowledge of social, economic, cultural, and political processes. Social sciences – and arguably the humanities as a whole – and the knowledge social scientists produce, with their critical engagement with how our societies work, are fundamental ingredients in any effort to discuss or find actionable measures that are applicable to real-world conditions.Global Affairs Canad
Research Quality Plus (RQ+) : evaluating research differently
French version available in IDRC Digital Library : Qualité de la recherche plus (QR+) : évaluer la recherche différemmentSpanish version available in IDRC Digital Library : Calidad de Investigacion Plus (RQ+) : evaluando la investigación de manera diferenteThe paper argues that high-quality research can open pathways to a better future. The International Development Research Centre’s (IDRC) experience with Research Quality Plus (RQ+) standards shows significant promise in delivering high quality research. The RQ+ approach results from collaboration between IDRC’s evaluation team and its research community. The paper presents applications of RQ+ across diverse research portfolios (2020-21). As a team of funders, researchers, evaluators, practitioners and students, the authors offer RQ+ as a validated alternative for defining, managing and evaluating research quality, moving towards improved scientific research governance, scientific progress and sustainable innovation
