Supporting a safer internet : global survey of gender based violence online
The weaponization of technology and private information in digital spaces has become all too prevalent in today’s online interactions. Nowhere is this more apparent than with online gender-based violence (OGBV). This modern form of violence perpetuates gender inequality and has significant impacts on its targets, including silencing women’s and LGBTQ+ voices online. The Supporting a Safer Internet project set out to conduct ground-breaking research. Until now, there had never been a global statistically significant survey of women and LGBTQ+ persons’ experiences online with specific focus on countries in the Global South. This project aimed to remedy that gap; to provide concrete evidence of those experiences to both inform, and ultimately influence, policy. Our focus is to use this first of its kind research to create policy and legal frameworks to better protect vulnerable and marginalized populations from gender-based online harm

Nigeria’s post-COVID-19 macroeconomic policies : are they climate change friendly?
This policy insight analyses Nigeria’s post-COVID-19 macroeconomic policies to ascertain how helpful they are in achieving the country’s climate commitments, as specified in its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The focus is on the policies in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, Economic Sustainability Plan and National Development Plan (2021–2025). This is followed by policy recommendations to help achieve a green economic recovery in Nigeria. While a clean energy future is taking shape with the expansion of the NDC, the Nigerian government needs to create a conducive environment for the effective implementation and monitoring of its climate change policies and initiatives. Educating all stakeholders on climate change adaptation and mitigation measures needs to be prioritized. By actively investing in renewable energy, capacity building, climate-smart agriculture and economic diversification, Nigeria can set itself on a path to build back stronger and cleaner
Leveraging blockchain technology to revitalize the agricultural supply chain in East Africa : lessons from Tanzania and Uganda
The Formal SMEs (FSMEs) have gained advantages over Informal Farmers' Small and Medium Enterprises (IFSMEs) in accessing market information, policy changes, and tapping regional and international trading opportunities. As a result, the IFSMEs, the chain’s main producers, are the least to benefit. This report presents the study’s findings on the potential of emerging technologies to mitigate Equity challenges in the Agricultural Supply Chain (ASC) of East African Agricultural Small and Medium Enterprises (Agri-SMEs). Specifically, the study has benchmarked Equity best practices in ASC innovations, analyzed existing innovations in the ASC in East Africa, compared Equity considerations in existing ASC innovations in East Africa against best practices, and built stakeholders' capacity to actively participate in the ASC-related networks

INSPIRE data hub : technical results of phase 1
The INSPIRE Data Hub is a FAIR data resource containing longitudinal population health data from Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) sites in southern and eastern Africa. It is designed with the idea that population health data can be usefully combined with data from other sources, notably routine healthcare data from clinics. It is designed to be both scalable and extensible, based on international standards, allowing for additional data in new areas to be introduced without requiring a new hub infrastructure
