Developing integrated guidelines for health care workers in hospital and primary healthcare facilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs)
COVID-19 has placed an enormous burden on health systems globally. In response to the demands of the pandemic, there has been an urgent need to capacity build HCWs (e.g., nurses, doctors, community health workers, and others) to reduce nosocomial transmission, strengthen triage systems, and rapidly identify cases to break chains of transmission in the community. The World Health Organization (WHO) has produced technical guidance documents for patient management, risk communication, infection control, etc. However, the guidance does not address health system challenges or implementation difficulties in resource-constrained settings such as LMICs. Further, while guidance provides valuable information for HCWs it must be complemented with training to ensure protocolization and uptake into practice. This is particularly important in the context of COVID-19, which has been hallmarked by waves of infections, resource scarcity, and growing stigma

Sexual and reproductive health needs and challenges of adolescent girls and young women in humanitarian settings in Nigeria and Uganda : a quantitative report
To better address Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) care access needs for young women and adolescent girls in humanitarian settings, greater insight is required on the needs and experiences of this population. Focusing on young women and adolescent girls in an Internally displaced persons camp in Maiduguri, Nigeria, and a refugee camp in Isingiro, Uganda, this report provides greater insight into their sexual and reproductive health needs and challenges. It specifically focuses on living conditions in the camp; contraceptives, pregnancy, and abortion; use of sexual and reproductive health services; intimate partner violence; and gender-based violence. The report is part of a larger project to generate evidence to improve the design and delivery of SRHR services to girls and young women in humanitarian contexts

Macroeconomic policy development in Tanzania
Since independence, Tanzania has experienced a series of economic shocks, which have pushed the country into an economic crisis. From mid-1980 onwards, major macroeconomic variables have been fluctuating, forcing the government to intervene through fiscal and monetary policies, with mixed results. The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 further disrupted any macroeconomic performance achieved earlier. In response, the BoT adopted macroeconomic policies aimed at shielding the economy from further deterioration by injecting greater funding into the public sector, for example through the healthcare sector. This was aimed at containing the spread of the pandemic. This policy briefing discusses macroeconomic policy development in Tanzania with the objective of informing policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic

Modernization of the Tanzania’s batik industry as a potential source of income for unemployed women : the case of Dar es Salaam
Batik is an artistic technique that is created by applying wax to fabrics in specific patterns, followed by dyeing the fabric repeatedly until it has achieved the desired design and colour. In Tanzania, the batik industry is dominated by small and medium firms, mainly led by women in both rural and urban areas who practice the art of batik usually in their own homes. Through survey and interview methods, this study identifies the many challenges associated with the industry, particularly with the techniques that are currently used in the batik industry in Tanzania. Upon analyzing the data from the survey and interviews, modernized and standardized batik techniques were introduced to the industry for the purpose of assisting batik producers in creating high quality and sustainable batik products with potential to be sold in international markets
