Aesthetics and Politics of the Fashion Image: A Queer Perspective
This essay theorizes the fashion photographic image as a privileged site for queer sensory experience. It takes the stance that the aesthetic engagement with the fashion image occurs through sensation, and more precisely, through a haptic and periperformative experience that activates desires, meanings, and fantasies. Through the circulation of feelings sparked via the sensorial experiencing of the photo, queer subjects can sense belongings and form affiliations that bind them in an egalitarian community of sense exceeding sexual and social differences. A queer theory of fashion photography does not posit that the photographic image may foster propositional knowledge in the viewers, but rather that it moves them to engage corporeally with the image and triggers their imagination to configure new affective modes of being in the world
The Ontology of Photography A Reassessment
This paper explores some issues concerning the ontology of photography. It would appear that photography’s ontology bears some significant specificities comparing with other art forms. First, the study of negative film and printed photograph relations shows us that photography has a multi-layered ontology, since although the latter is ontologically dependent upon the former, it stands autonomously as work of art. Second, I will consider the problem of forgery in photography. It seems that photographs are autographic and allographic, fakeable and unfakeable. Third, ontological status of negative film will be explored. Apparently, current ontological categories aren’t pertinent as far as negative-photograph’s ontology is concerned. That’s why, relying on Gérard Genette ontological notions, I propose to consider the negative film as «immanence» and the printed photograph as work’s «transcendence». In this regard, printed photograph functions as a manifestation of the negative film
Deifying Beauty. Toward the Definition of a Paradigm for Byzantine Aesthetics
Moving from the problem of defining how medieval speculation conceived the aesthetic dimension of art, this essay purposes an insight into the aspects that describe the peculiarity of the Byzantine conception of beauty and art. Surpassing the noetic perspective established by Platonic thought – shared also by Western medieval philosophy – according to which beauty is an intelligible model subsisting in itself as an autonomous entity, the Byzantine proper vision conceives beauty as a divine energy. The implications of this perspective lead us to investigate its connection with some of the most original achievements of Byzantine speculation, such as hypostatic ontology, theology of deification, eikonic thinking, and especially sophianic gnoseology, which permit us to overcome the dichotomy of the intelligible and the sensible domains of reality
At the beginning was the decree. Towards a shared design process between insiders and outsiders
The article describes the collaborative research carried out for the co-design of the Program for professional socio-pedagogical educator. Starting from the analysis of the laws and regulations defining normative parameters, using the results of the TECO-D project, the work reconstructs the elements of the research conducted with educators working in the professional sectors interested by the Program. The collaborative methodology implemented has made possible identifying four core contents: situated theories, methodologies of investigation, verification of the effectiveness of the educational action, conflicts between colleagues.
Reflexive competence of adult education professionals in political adult education
The article examines the reflexive competence for professionals in adult education, mainly political adult education. Reflexive competences can solve teaching tasks in settings, in which adult learners are confronting with challenging current topics, such as populism and Euroscepticism. In spite of their differences, these two political phenomena demand innovative pedagogical approaches. A meta-level analysis of the reflexive competence highlights, on the one hand, the ways in which it can be fostered in adult learners, so that they may be capable to handle political questions in a holistic perspective, and, at the same time, how adult educators can master it both as a pedagogical strategy and a self-reflection process. Both analytic and descriptive considerations are provided, drawing on the different aspects defining the reflexive competence in the light of political education, so as to contribute to the professional development of adult educators and to improve practice in didactical settings.
ECEC in the European Union: analysis and governance of ECEC systems of four Member States
This paper explores Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Italy – with a focus on Tuscany – and in three EU Member States, namely Finland, France, and Germany. In order to better understand the ECEC systems, a snapshot of the regulatory framework related to ECEC in the EU is provided at the beginning. Then, the analysis of the ECEC systems is around five topics, accompanied by some socio-demographical data, especially on female employment. The topics are: the type of Early Childhood Education and Care system selected, with a focus on the administrative and political aspects; the articulation of Early Childhood Education and Care services; the percentage of use; roles, the tasks and training of professionals involved in ECEC; the services-family and local communities relationship.L’ECEC nell’Unione Europea: analisi e governance dei sistemi di educazione e cura dell’infanzia di quattro Paesi membriQuesto saggio esplora la Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) presente in Italia – con focus sul sistema di educazione e cura dell’infanzia toscano – e in tre Stati membri UE, quali Finlandia, Francia e Germania, scelti perché ritenuti particolarmente rappresentativi.
Making educational planning: skills, methodologies, experiences
The ability to design effective educational interventions requires education and training professionals to deal with methodological, institutional and experiential issues. Through the first of these plans they develop the basic teaching skills to write, start and manage a project; with the second they face the organizational and management dynamics to develop a network project with public and third sector services; finally, the last plan helps them to expand their skills in supporting projects in complex and differentiated contexts. In this perspective, the theme of educational planning is therefore of strategic importance in supporting the profile of the L19 educator, which in the synthesis proposed by the authors appears as a professional able to build a project, share it with institutional stakeholders and implement it in dynamic conditions and constantly evolving.
Required competences and specific training for learning tutor
The present contribution wants to start a reflection on the evolution of the professional educator role given the recent normative interventions and some new circles of intervention. Starting from a synthesis of research about the courses that in Italy are proposed today for the formation of tutor learning, the following job proposes a pedagogic reading of this new profile. It appears a well-defined frame of functions that however needs a more suitable definition in terms of formation and professional identity, not always so anchored to educational knowledges and postures.
The lack of adequate resources for many women and their households can leads to significant economic difficulties, often resulting in an inability to acquire essential goods and services. The purpose of the paper is to analyse the female condition of poverty distinguishing by different characteristics and degrees of distress, also taking into account the role of women in the household. The measures of deprivation, absolute poverty and extreme poverty allow to draw a picture of the economically vulnerable population and its composition in different groups. Identifying different groups means also identifying policy targets and tailoring interventions to different paths of exclusion, that can be more or less dependent on labour market participation, income sources, health conditions or social networks reliability.
