Educational robotics laboratories for active learning. The case study of Florence schools joining the Le Chiavi della Città project

    Get PDF
This contribution deals with the peculiarities, characteristics and perspectives of the introduction of the educational robotics in the teaching of the first cycle, through the study that involved 59 Florence classes joining the Robot@school laboratories in Le Chiavi della Città project. The research focuses on some priority factors: (i) effectiveness and appreciation of the offer; (ii) impact on teachers’ professionalism and learning of the students; (iii) analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the system; (iv) possible improvement actions. The quantitative-qualitative research has provided a set of investigative tools: semi-structured interviews to the trainers involved, structured interviews to the teachers who participated to the laboratories, and detection grids for classroom observations conducted by researchers.

Education for transformation of subjects and working contexts. The institutional learning of Regional Governments as an example

    Get PDF
Most of our researches have been guided by the emancipatory transformative learning approach. They have been carried out in the field of institutional and organizational learning. Transformative learning is referred to not only the individual dimension but also to the collective one as it refers to The Public (Dewey, 1927), to the historical collective subject investigated in the adult learning tradition at the Florence academicians. The Public is the only one that can “perceive social, political, and economic contradictions, and to take action against the oppressive elements of reality” (Freire, 1971, p. 19). Reflexive ability allows the collective subject that is organised to manage learning actions in order to transform contexts and communities. This paper comes back through most of the researchers we have been conducted on an international level in order to frame them within some pedagogical constructs that allow institutional learning processes among regional Governments to be analysed and investigated. The challenge relates to how to train the historical collective subject as to let it exercise transformative social functions and control any process of being passive and inactive.L’educazione per il cambiamento e la trasformazione di soggetti e contesti lavorativi.

Age structure of a population of Discoglossus scovazzi Camerano, 1878 (Anura - Discoglossidae) in extreme environmental conditions (High Atlas, Morocco)

    Get PDF
The age structure and growth of the Moroccan Painted Frog (Discoglossus scovazzi Camerano, 1878) in a population living in the High Atlas at the upper altitudinal limit of the species’ range was estimated for the first time by skeletochronology. Individual age was determined by counting the lines of arrested growth (LAGs) from cross-sections of the phalanges. Both males and females reached sexual maturity at 3-4 years of age at which point the speed of osteogenesis and body growth slow down. Males and females have maximum lifespans of six and five years, and average sizes of 47. 50 mm (n = 21, SD = 1.40) and 39.70 mm (n = 53, SD = 0.90) respectively. We detected a positive relationship between age and size, suggesting that the oldest individuals are always bigger and heavier. Sizes corresponding to the same age class are very heterogeneous reflecting divergent conditions and growth strategies

Between Cry and Hope. World War I in Croatian Literary Avant-Garde

This paper is an informative and analytical description of the thematization/presence of the topic of World War I in the Croatian avant-garde creation (1917-1925). The theme of World War I plays such and important role in the poetry, prose and drama of literary Expressionism that without it, the corpus of artistic texts of Croatian expressionism and Croatian literary avant-garde would be significantly impoverished. The course of elaboration of war themes and of the very end of war in literary works went from a higher towards a lower degree of war reality denotation: the feeling of desperation due to helplessness, the underlining of the absurdity of war destructions, the ironic reflex over one more triumph of human stupidity, the creation of dark images of despair and decay, the fatalistic historical going around in circles, melancholy, nihilism, indifference due to the inability to change the state of war, memento mori... All these are the basic characteristics of the works written by Krleža, Strozzi, Donadini, Kosor and Cesarec. This paper also draws attention to the presence of the theme of the Great War, and to the echoes of war events in the manifestation texts of that period. Namely, it underlines the invocation and expectations of the arrival of art of the new times and new sensitivity, with the New Man as the symbol of salvation, renewal, and hope. This paper is an informative and analytical description of the thematization/presence of the topic of World War I in the Croatian avant-garde creation (1917-1925).

    Get PDF
The current society, "liquid", "complex" and "postmodern", requires that educators provide the keys to interpret reality and to orientate their actions in a democratic perspective. The educational relationship can produce comparison between multiple languages and develop a "structural criticality"

Leopardi draws up an anthology of Italian prose entitled Crestomazia italiana della prosa where the educative purpose is very evident. The poet intends to educate the readers to national literature and to a good writing, but he proposes also a moral education, as the content of many extracts proves

Aberrant innervation of the lateral abdominal muscles by direct branch of L4 nerve

Surgical approache through the posterior abdominal wall used for nephrectomy or other access to contents of the retroperitoneal space requires to be cognizant of the regional nerve supply to the posterolateral abdominal wall muscles. We herein report a, to our knowledge, previously undescribed direct branch from the L4 spinal nerve that formed a plexus with regional nerves to then innervate the lateral abdominal wall musculature. Such a nerve variant should be considered by the surgeon who operates this region
