MITIGATING CONSTRUCTION DELAYS USING MONTE CARLO SIMULATION: A RISK BASED APPROACH

This study analyzes the schedule delays in the foundation work of an ammonia tank construction project at a fertilizer company in Sumatra. The research identifies key risks affecting the project's schedule and assesses their impact using Monte Carlo simulation. A risk analysis framework is developed by integrating deterministic scheduling with uncertainty modeling to quantify the probability of project completion within the planned timeframe. The study applies a two-stage risk analysis approach, consisting of pre-mitigation and post-mitigation assessments. The pre-mitigation analysis shows a low probability (22%) of completing the project on time due to high-impact risks such as material delivery delays and equipment failures. Based on these findings, mitigation strategies were implemented, including optimized procurement scheduling, quality control measures, and enhanced equipment maintenance. The post-mitigation simulation results indicate a significant improvement, increasing the probability of on-time project completion to 43%. This research highlights the effectiveness of Monte Carlo simulation in identifying critical risks, optimizing mitigation measures, and improving project schedule reliability

HUMAN RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF PACKAGING PRODUCTION OPERATORS WITH HIERARCHICAL TASK ANALYSIS (HTA) AND FUZZY HEART METHODS

Machine operator experienced has a significant number of production defects and frequent failures to meet production targets. These issues are largely attributed to the high level of operator involvement in the production process, increasing the likelihood of human error. To address this, a Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) was conducted to identify factors contributing to human error and the associated risks of production defects. The analysis employed the Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) method to break down each task. Subsequently, Human Error Probability (HEP) and the Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique (HEART) were used to evaluate the likelihood of human error and overall human reliability. In the HEART method, the Assessed Proportion of Effect (APOE) value was determined through expert judgment. To mitigate the subjectivity in APOE determination, a modification using Fuzzy Linguistic Expression was applied.

Analysis of Tofu Liquid Waste and Rice Washing Water Combination in Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) System Using Taguchi Experimental Design

Tofu production generates residue in the form of liquid sewage, which is frequently disposed of in sewers. This has the potential to pollute streams and emit a distinct stench that may disturb the neighboring population. Tofu liquid waste can be converted into electrical energy using a Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) technology. MFC uses the metabolic activity of microorganisms to transform organic chemicals in the substrate into electrical energy. This study will use Taguchi experimental design to provide recommendations for the optimal composition of the substrate usage ratio, incubation period, and addition of bioactivators, as well as their effect on the electrical power produced in MFC system using a combination of tofu liquid waste and rice washing water as the substrate. According to the findings of the research, the parameter with the greatest influence is incubation period (74.81%), followed by addition of bioactivator (19.45%), and substrate ratio (5.46%). The optimal composition is recommended to be incubated for one day with a 5% bioactivator addition and an 80:20 substrate ratio of tofu liquid waste and rice washing water

PT XYZ, a company specializing in heavy equipment component remanufacture, is committed to ensuring that its processes run quickly and efficiently. However, from 2022 to 2023, the disassembly engine process exceeded the average processing time. Observations revealed that 24% of the time was categorized as waste setup time, necessitating a more objective reduction. This research aims to determine the actual total setup time, internal and external activities, and time reduction using the SMED and Fuzzy FMEA methods. The disassembly process includes the main disassembly, sub disassembly 1, and sub disassembly 2. Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) is employed to identify and reduce setup time by distinguishing between internal and external activities. Additionally, this research integrates the SMED method with Fuzzy Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks in setup activities and determine which internal activities can be modified. Changes to external activities will be analyzed using the 5-Why's method to identify root causes and find solutions. Observations revealed that the average disassembly engine setup time was 20 hours and 12 minutes, consisting of 25 internal activities and 56 external activities. The SMED method resulted in an 18% reduction in setup time, and when combined with the Fuzzy FMEA method, the reduction reached 59%, equivalent to 8 hours and 17 minutes

There are definitely several of pros and cons when relocating the country's capital from Jakarta to IKN. One of them has to do with the food security. As one of the IKN buffer areas, Balikpapan, has experienced issues with food security, particularly with regard to the supply of beef. The amount of imported beef in 2016-2019 shows a prediction that the amount of imported beef will continue to increase drastically yearly while the amount of local beef tends to decrease. The government of Balikpapan predicts that there will be an increase in the migrant population of up to 20.000 people each year due to the IKN, which can lead to an increase in demand for beef. Factors affecting the availability of beef in Balikpapan are local and imported beef availability, consumption, scarcity, and population demographics. This research was conducted using a system simulation approach with the system dynamic method to describe a complex system regarding the availability of beef in Balikpapan. Based on the scenario that has been developed, an effective policy that can be implemented to maintain the availability of beef in Balikpapan is to increase the cattle feed fraction by 15% and increase the arrival rate of imported beef by 10%. However, there is a need for an intervention policy from the government to increase local beef production, which is predicted to decrease, and minimize the amount of imported beef which dominates in fulfilling the beef consumption needs of the people of Balikpapan
