Collaborative governance in the management of cultural site

    No full text
Purpose: The paper aims to demonstrate the importance of multistakeholder systems in the management of "minor" cultural sites. Starting from an analysis of the literature on collaborative governance, it aims to understand the criteria for the applicability of different management models and the possible spin-offs in view of the peculiarities of each site and the relationship between external factors and the applicability of management practices. Methodology: Multiple case study was used through the tool of semi-structured interview with cultural site managers. Results: The correlation between stakeholder-related factors, including their role, motivation and purpose, and the choice of management model was demonstrated. Research Limitations: This research does not contain guidance on measuring the performance of the case studies. Originality: Building on studies conducted on large cultural attractors, directions are given for systematizing networks even in smaller sites, implementing good management systems and fostering participatory governance. Compared to what has been presented previously, 4 case studies are examined

Investigating the relationship between social enterprise sustainability dimensions and collaborative social program management resources

    No full text
Purpose. This paper investigates the multifaceted aspects of sustainability considered by social enterprises in selecting resources for social program management. It delves into the interplay among the three pillars of sustainability, social, economic, and environmental, and their influence on the adoption of collaborative social enterprise program management resources in Pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach.  In this study, a survey questionnaire approach was used. A total of 300 responses were received from the respondents working in Pakistan\u27s social enterprises. Data were gathered from project and program managers active in Pakistani social enterprises. Purposive and convenient sampling techniques were employed. The data was analyzed through partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using the PLS 3.3 software.  Findings. The study suggests that enterprises placing a higher emphasis on sustainability are more inclined to engage in green innovations. A notable correlation exists between the high valuation of economic and institutional sustainability and the propensity of investors to embrace green innovations. Practical and Social Implications. This research highlights the emerging niche of integrating sustainability principles with project and program management practices, underscoring the significant hurdles faced by managers in implementing these principles. Moreover, it reveals that collaborative social program management resources considerably impact the sustainability dimensions within social enterprises. Originality of the Study. This research makes a distinctive contribution by exploring the nature and impact of a novel program management resource, a collaborative social program management resource, and its association with sustainability

Leadership femminile e assetti proprietari: indagine sul gender pay gap nelle piccole e medie imprese ICT europee

    No full text
Purpose: This study investigates the interplay between women leadership and ownership structure in shaping gender pay disparities within the European SMEs. It specifically examines how the presence of women in top leadership roles influences the gender pay gap across publicly owned and family-owned enterprises, thereby contributing to the broader discourse on governance, equity, and organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach: Drawing on a panel dataset comprising 1,050 firm-level observations from European listed companies from 2010 to 2023, the study employs a high-dimensional fixed effects (HDFE) econometric model to estimate the determinants of wage inequality. The analysis is situated within a dual theoretical framework, Agency Theory and Social Role Theory, to elucidate the mechanisms through which gender representation, institutional ownership, and cultural norms influence pay structures. The empirical strategy incorporates interaction terms to assess the moderating effects of ownership type on the relationship between female leadership and the gender pay gap. Findings: The results indicate a robust and statistically significant negative association between women’s board representation and the gender pay gap. This relationship is particularly pronounced in public-owned enterprises, where institutional oversight and public accountability appear to enhance the efficacy of inclusive leadership. Conversely, in family-owned firms, greater women’s representation is paradoxically associated with an increase in wage disparities, suggesting the presence of enduring patriarchal norms and informal power structures that may undermine formal equality initiatives. Additional findings reveal that board independence and ESG performance contribute to reducing the pay gap, while traditional financial performance indicators exhibit limited explanatory power in this context. Practical and social implications: The findings yield actionable insights for both policymakers and corporate stakeholders. In the public sector, reinforcing gender-inclusive governance frameworks can yield tangible equity outcomes. In contrast, interventions in family-owned enterprises must account for embedded cultural dynamics that may resist surface-level reforms. Recommended policy measures include the enforcement of pay transparency legislation, the introduction of gender-equitable hiring and promotion practices, and the provision of structural supports such as childcare services and flexible work arrangements. These initiatives are essential for equitable labor market outcomes in an industry historically marked by gender imbalance. Originality of the study: This research offers a novel contribution to the literature by providing a comparative, ownership-specific analysis of gender pay dynamics within the ICT sector, an industry characterized by both high wage inequality and persistent gender underrepresentation. Through its integration of institutional theory, gender studies, and econometric modeling, the study advances understanding of how structural and cultural variables jointly condition the impact of female leadership on pay equity.

How job crafting influences work meaningfulness in coworking spaces

    No full text
Purpose. Coworking spaces are emerging as a new organizational archetype involving freelancers, independent professionals, entrepreneurs, and corporate employees. Specialized providers design these innovative environments to encourage continuous collaboration and knowledge sharing among peers. However, to maximize their systematic encounters with like-minded individuals and achieve valuable outcomes, users are required to self-regulate their behavior daily.  This investigation examines the role that proactive behaviors and the sense of job control have in increasing the meaning coworking users associate with their jobs as a key value indicator. Design/methodology/approach. The present research is based on a quantitative study that involved 167 coworking users in 42 different coworking spaces in Italy. Findings. The results show that approach job crafting behaviors positively influence work meaningfulness and that said relationship is strengthened by the job control individuals have. Practical and social implications. Our research offers important managerial implications, giving coworking providers the tools to make their space more engaging by promoting proactive behaviors and improving the knowledge of users about how to make the best of their working experience. Originality of the study. Such findings broaden the literature on coworking spaces, currently underexplored, and underline the importance of investigating, at the same time, individual factors and contextual elements to better understand the nature of work and its outcomes in these spaces

“Companions of Nature Were We”. A Dialogue Through Memory in the Wye Valley.

The 19th century saw growing interest in walking tours. Among these wanderers were Dorothy and William Wordsworth who embarked on many journeys together. However, one profoundly impacted both their lives and English Literature: the Wye Valley. This experience inspired one of English Literature’s most renowned meditative poems, “Tintern Abbey” (1798), which I thoroughly examined, interpreting it as a hidden dialogue in the Bakhtinian sense culminating in William’s meaningful address to Dorothy. Specifically, the last 48 lines constitute the most heartfelt tribute Wordsworth ever made to his sister, framed as a plea to memory. Contrary to most scholarly views of Dorothy as a phantom or a self-projection of the Bard, I emphasised how these lines reveal the depth of their relationship.  I provided direct literary support, noting that Dorothy embraced this tribute 34 years later in “Thoughts on My Sick-Bed” (1832-3) and further enriched the dialogue through memory in “Loving and Liking: Irregular Verses Addressed to a Child” (1832). &nbsp

    Dall’educazione “disinteressata” alla «“filosofia della praxis” o “neo-umanesimo”»

The article deals with Gramsci’s pedagogical reflection, starting from the analysis of some early writings in which the need to develop a militant and “disinterested” proletarian culture emerges. The concept of “disinterestedness” is constantly used, through a series of lexical variants, from 1915 until the Prison Notebooks. In particular, after the famous reference to Goethe’s «für ewig» in the letter to Tatiana of 19 March 1927, this theme gradually resurfaces in a series of notes dedicated to the hegemonic-pedagogical role of intellectuals and the school. More specifically, particular attention is given at first to the influence of neo-idealist pedagogy (Giuseppe Lombardo Radice and Salvemini) on the early writings of the Sardinian intellectual. The analysis then focuses on new semantic contributions that contribute to the inclusion of the pedagogical discourse within the prison reflection on the «philosophy of praxis».L’articolo tratta della riflessione pedagogica di Gramsci, partendo dall\u27analisi di alcuni scritti giovanili in cui emerge la necessità di sviluppare una cultura proletaria militante e “disinteressata”.
