Trust in Scientists, Climate Policy, and Government Skepticism: A Global Re-Analysis
Despite overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change, skepticism persists, influencing public resistance to policies and governmental inaction. This study analyzes survey data (doi.org/10.1038/s41597-024-04100-7) from 68 countries to explore public trust in scientists, sources of science information, emotional responses to climate change, and policy support. Findings indicate that while the public generally trusts scientists’ expertise and intelligence, concerns remain about their transparency and ethics. Trust in scientists is 23% higher than distrust and positively correlates with climate policy support (r = 0.30), whereas political conservatism is linked to lower trust (β = -0.0258, p \u3c 0.001). Science communication plays a key role—TV/radio and news websites/apps are the most trusted sources, followed by social media. Regression analysis shows TV/radio increases trust by ~4%, while news websites/apps increase trust by 3.7%. Social media has a weaker effect (β = 0.00005, p \u3e 0.05). Emotionally, anxiety and helplessness are felt 23% more than guilt and shame, reducing trust in government climate action. Public support is strongest for sustainable energy and environmental protection (25% higher than support for fuel taxes), while public transportation is supported 22% more than fuel taxes. Trust in government climate strategies is 7% lower than trust in science-based decision-making. Skepticism stems not from distrust in science, but doubts about government action. Addressing this requires bridging the trust gap between governments and scientists, improving science communication, and addressing public emotional concerns
Academic Entitlement is Associated with Lower Self-Efficacy and More Course Withdrawals
Academic entitlement is characterized by students\u27 belief that they deserve favorable treatment in academic settings, often without regard to their effort or engagement. This entitlement often manifests in two ways: Externalizing Responsibility (ER), where students deflect accountability for their academic success onto others, and Entitled Expectations (EE), where students expect special accommodations from instructors. This study explores two psychological constructs, ER and EE, and the association with college students\u27 academic outcomes. A sample of 251 college students completed the academic entitlement scale (AES), which included 15-items examining ER (10-items) and EE (five-items). Three academic outcomes were measured: (1) course failures (Fs), (2) course withdrawals (Ws) and (3) academic self-efficacy, as measured by the Educational Self-Efficacy Scale (5-items). It was hypothesized that students with higher ER and EE scores would have more Fs and Ws, and a strong negative correlation between ER and EE and an individual\u27s academic self-efficacy. Correlation analysis suggests that ER is moderately positively associated with Ws, but not Fs. EE was not associated with Ws or Fs. Both ER and EE were negatively correlated with academic self-efficacy. These results support the hypothesis that students who rely on external support from others may lack the confidence derived from their own academic responsibility. Such insights emphasize the need for educational programs that promote self-efficacy and personal accountability, potentially reducing reliance on external supports and encouraging resilience in academic pursuits. This study highlights the importance of fostering academic accountability and self-efficacy to reduce maladaptive academic behaviors

Agentic AI and the Future of Fashion: Autonomous Creativity and Intelligent Systems
The fashion industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). While generative AI has demonstrated its capabilities in content creation and design ideation, the emergence of agentic AI heralds a paradigm shift towards autonomous systems capable of sophisticated perception, decision-making, and action within complex and dynamic environments. Unlike traditional AI tools that require specific inputs and human oversight for each step, agentic AI possesses the capacity for continuous learning, goal-driven behavior, and intricate decision-making with minimal direct human intervention. This paper delves into the transformative potential of agentic AI across the fashion ecosystem, encompassing design innovation, on-demand and automated manufacturing processes, personalized retail experiences, and the optimization of sustainable supply chain management. Drawing upon state-of-the-art research, empirical data, and critical analyses of industry applications, we examine how agentic AI is poised to redefine creative processes, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to environmental responsibility within the fashion sector. Furthermore, this study addresses critical ethical, practical, and socio-cultural considerations arising from the integration of agentic AI, such as algorithmic bias, explainability, intellectual property rights, and the evolving role of human designers in this evolving landscape. By synthesizing technological, operational, and socio-cultural perspectives, this research aims to provide a comprehensive and forward-looking framework for understanding the multifaceted impact of agentic AI and its potential to disrupt and fundamentally reimagine the future trajectory of the fashion industry
