Moriska Paviljongen - Landscape model
Moriska Paviljongen, located in Malmö, Sweden, was originally built as a palace of entertainment for the peoples movement. It has over the years been extended multiple times but the function remains similar, hosting night clubs and concerts. The building has a neo-moorish design, popular in europe at the time, and features horseshoe arches and onion domes
Assisting Project Prioritization and Knowledge Management through a Software Measurement System: An Industrial study
Among large organizations managing multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining numerous projects presents significant challenges, particularly in prioritizing projects and managing knowledge erosion. This study aims to develop and validate indicators for efficient project prioritization and knowledge loss prevention by creating a Software Measurement System (SMS) that offers stakeholders practical information. This research follows a design science research method, iteratively designed and implemented the SMS in two cycles. In the first cycle the conceptual model of the SMS is designed. Then the SMS is implemented and evaluated in the second cycle. The two indicators proposed in this study are verified to be relevant, clear, and effective in guiding project prioritization and knowledge management. Stakeholders found the SMS useful, but documentation and transparency in calculation methods were recommended. This research contributes to industrial and academic domains by offering a robust SMS for real-world projects and providing empirical insights into the relationships between various data sources and project metrics
Promoting Energy Efficient Driving Through a Form of Eco Score
The increasing use of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) presents opportunities and challenges in promoting energy-efficient driving. This thesis explores how information about One Pedal Drive (OPD) and throttle usage can be visualized to help drivers better understand and manage their energy consumption. The study takes a user-centered design approach that involved conducting expert interviews and questionnaire study to understand the users. Prototypes displaying eco-driving feedback integrated into the Drivers Information Monitor (DIM) were developed, tested, and refined. The initial design concepts developed according to a defined requirements list, were tested in two focus groups. A semi-functional prototype were developed based on the feedback from the first iteration and tested with 20 participants in a Think-Aloud Protocol study. The findings highlight that dynamic real-time visualizations combined with post-drive visualizations can help user gain a better understanding of their energy consumption. Gamified elements such as an Eco Score, social comparisons, and ambient feedback were shown to motivate energy-efficient behaviour. The thesis presents a set of actionable design recommendations for in-car displays that aim to improve user experience, reduce cognitive load, and support sustainable driving habits. These insights contribute to the field of human-vehicle interaction and the development of intuitive interfaces for the next generation of BEVs
How citizen dialogue aligns with functional diversity in the development of urban areas
This thesis explores how citizen dialogue aligns with the concept of functional diversity in
the urban environment. Functional diversity in this study is defined based on Jane Jacobs's
four criteria for city diversity, with additions from more recent sources. The four criteria’s
are: a mix of primary functions, short blocks, housing diversity, and high population density
A key assumption in this thesis is that a diverse group of participants in the dialogue process
leads to more diverse and inclusive outcomes in urban development. Therefore, the study
also examines strategies to achieve a broad and representative participation group. To answer
these questions, three cases where citizen dialogue has been utilized were analyzed. The
findings indicate that developing targeted engagement strategies is crucial for fostering
diverse participation. Open invitations to dialogues were found to be less effective in
achieving a diverse participation group; instead, collaboration with associations and councils
proved more successful in reaching underrepresented groups.
Regarding functional diversity, the study highlights that while citizen dialogue can foster
support for a mix of functions, the majority of requests made by the dialogue participants
were for secondary functions. The responsibility for ensuring a well-balanced distribution of
primary and secondary functions ultimately lies with professionals to fulfil the requirement
of a mix of primary functions. The findings also suggest that dialogue can influence urban
form due to often being introduced early in the process. However, competing interests, such
as demands for increased car infrastructure and walkability, may challenge functional
diversity. Housing diversity was not a prominent topic in the analyzed dialogues. This further
underscores the importance of including participants from different socioeconomic
backgrounds. The study also found that concerns about density were common, yet through
the use of models and visualizations, dialogues helped to generate support for higher-density

Optimization Home Energy Management System
Detta examensarbete har resulterat i en fullt fungerande simulator och optimeringsalgoritm som hjälper svenska hushåll att minska sina elkostnader genom att analysera energiförbrukning och ge konkreta rekommendationer för att jämna ut effekttoppar. Bakgrunden till projektet är det ökande antalet solpaneler, hembatterier och elbilar samt införandet av effektavgifter och dynamiska elpriser, vilket ställer nya krav på hushållens energihantering.
Projektet genomfördes i samarbete med Grid Collective och resulterade i ett användarvänligt verktyg där konsumenter kan importera sin energidata i CSV-format och få visualiseringar och rekommendationer för kostnadsoptimering. Simulatorn utvecklades i React med TypeScript och använder PapaParse och Recharts för datainläsning och visualisering. Optimeringsalgoritmen bygger på analys av historisk data och fokuserar på att identifiera de tre högsta effekttopparna och omfördela dessa för att minska kostnader.
Effektiviteten utvärderades genom att jämföra energikostnader och effektvariation före och efter optimering. Resultaten visade att algoritmen kunde reducera toppar och ge användaren tydliga rekommendationer för hur energianvändningen kan optimeras i framtiden. Arbetet utgör ett underlag för vidare utveckling och potentiell implementering hos Grid Collective
Utveckling av ett tekniskt hjälpmedel för paddelteknikanalys
Kayaking is a technically complex sport where small margins can determine the outcome of competitions, making it crucial for the paddler to have a well-developed paddling technique. We have systematically developed a concept designed to help active paddlers and coaches understand, analyze, and improve paddling technique. The technical aid is relevant and useful for both paddlers and coaches, based on their respective needs and requirements. The concept we developed is an app called KayakCoach. Through the app, the coach can view various parameters from the paddlers in real time, out on the water. These parameters include, for example, distance per stroke, paddle rate, heart rate, and speed. Access to these parameters in real time strengthens the coach’s basis for the feedback provided to the paddlers, leading to more data-driven feedbac
