    La ricerca empirica sulla valutazione scolastica

    Il presente lavoro intende esporre e commentare i risultati di una ricerca empirica nazionale (che ha coinvolto un collettivo di docenti dell’Italia centro-meridionale e insulare) progettata dal gruppo di ricerca afferente all’Insegnamento di docimologia dell’Università Digitale Pegaso. I due macroobiettivi che ci hanno spinto a promuovere una ricerca il cui oggetto è la valutazione scolastica, sono i seguenti: il primo, fornire al decisore politico e alla dirigenza scolastica evidenze empiriche utili ad assumere decisioni oculate. Il coinvolgimento diretto dei professionisti dell’educazione, che nel nostro caso sono i docenti, è essenziale perché proprio essi si rapportano quotidie con i variegati problemi della scuola. Il secondo macroobiettivo di questa ricerca ha inteso indagare sulla professionalità docente, dal momento che in Italia siamo ancora lontani da una competenza docimologica diffusa. Sebbene non manchino gruppi di docenti che hanno dimostrato di essere preparati nel settore della valutazione, troppo spesso si assiste, nei casi migliori, ad una formazione rapsodica che finisce per cedere alle insidie del senso comune educativo. La letteratura docimologica ha potuto mettere in rilievo che da tempo nel nostro Paese è presente una sorta di “subcultura valutativa”, che da una parte si dimostra priva di un adeguato retroterra scientifico, e dall’altra si sottomette al senso comune o all’ideologia oggi dominante

    Towards blue diving: analysis and solutions to prevent scuba diving impact in the Mediterranean sea

    Recreational scuba diving is a growing tourism sector in the Mediterranean Sea that can be integrated with citizen science initiatives, contributing to the collection of extensive data and increasing public awareness of marine coastal ecosystems. However, over time, scuba diving can pose a threat to the integrity of marine communities, mainly due to mechanical damage that may compromise both the functional role and the aesthetic value of marine organisms. This work aims to provide recommendations for adaptive co-management of scuba diving, with a focus on preventing damage and fostering more responsible behaviours in the Mediterranean marine environment. Three tools were used to lay a solid foundation for the designed strategy: 1. an in-depth review of the literature to understand the factors that contribute to the irresponsible attitude of divers and the consequent environmental damage; the successful practices that have been adopted/proposed and the potential factors that contribute to failures in achieving environmentally responsible behaviour, 2. a spatial index approach to detect the areas where the probability of diving impact is highest, and 3. a behavioural change framework to promote greater environmental awareness and stewardship and to induce a mindset shift in scuba divers. The proposed management flow is built around four key elements: 1. the establishment of a network of dive centres and other stakeholders directly or indirectly connected to scuba diving; 2. the development of a data hub to ensure the collection, storage, and exchange of data, knowledge, and outcomes among all parties; 3. the implementation of a robust communication plan to facilitate multi-directional feedback within the stakeholder network; and 4. the application of a spatial approach to map the distribution and intensity of pressures across the territory. Among priority habitats, marine caves require particular attention from policymakers due to their ecological vulnerability and their potential role as refugia for key habitat-forming species, at least at their entrance. Successful management cases at small scale can then be shared with other systems to foster mutual learning, crowdsource solutions to common challenges, and progressively expand the approach to broader systems through a stepped, cascade model flow of data and experiences

    The cell-permeable iron chelator M606 inhibits MYCN-driven neuroblastoma via an E2F3-mediated response

    Despite Myc oncoproteins being major causal factors in human cancer, they remain "undruggable." The MYCN oncogene is one of the most powerful prognostic markers for the childhood cancer neuroblastoma and represents an important target for developing novel therapeutics. Here, we report the finding and characterization of M606, a selective small molecule inhibitor of MYCN, which was identified by screening a diverse chemical library. M606 reduced MYCN protein levels in neuroblastoma cell lines and upregulated hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF1A). Using siRNA-mediated knockdown of MYCN, c-Myc, or HIF1A in HepG2 and BE(2)-C cells followed by M606 treatment, we demonstrated that Myc downregulation and HIF1A upregulation were two independent effects of M606 treatment. M606 selectively targeted neuroblastoma cell lines expressing higher levels of MYCN protein and delayed neuroblastoma development in the TH-MYCNtransgenic mouse model. Metabolomic analysis showed that M606 modulated glucose metabolism, consistent with a hypoxic response and iron deprivation. Biochemical characterization of M606 not only confirmed its iron-chelating properties but also revealed its ability to downregulate MYCNpromoter activity, which could be rescued by the addition of iron. Luciferase assays identified the minimal MYCN promoter region required for the M606 response, which contained overlapping E2F transcription factor binding sites. Further evaluation defined a key role for E2F3 in the M606-mediated response. The finding of a potent cell-permeable iron chelator that can chelate iron to directly downregulate MYCN transcription via an E2F3-mediated response represents a potentially valuable therapeutic approach in the treatment of cancers overexpressing Myc oncoproteins

    Pressure- and temperature-driven transitions and conformational conversions of n-hexyl substituted perylene diimide (PDI-C6) crystals

    Perylene diimides (PDIs) are organic semiconductors with properties suitable for applications in electronic devices. This study presents a comprehensive investigation of PDI-C6, a perylene diimide modified with an n-hexyl alkyl chain at the imide position, under non-ambient conditions, with a focus on the rich diagram of structurally varying phases and their anisotropic strain. Five distinct polymorphs of PDI-C6 have been found. The ambient phase I transforms to phase II at 465 K, which at 521 K transforms to phase III. The perylene cores arranged in parallel stacks in phase I rotate in the scissor-opening motion by 33° in phase II. Under high pressure, phase I transforms to phase IV at 1.22 GPa and to phase V at 1.50 GPa. The transitions between phases I, IV and V stepwise modify the conformation of the n-hexyl substituents. Surprisingly, all five polymorphs are of space-group type P1̄, which is unprecedented as the symmetry of phases usually involves the space-group changes. These findings significantly enhance our understanding of the structural transformations of next-generation electronic materials and highlight the role of crystal engineering in constructing novel organic semiconductors with high sensitivity to environmental stimuli

    Strong regularization by noise for a class of kinetic SDEs driven by symmetric α-stable processes

    We establish strong well-posedness for a class of degenerate SDEs of kinetic type with autonomous diffusion driven by a symmetric -stable process under Hölder regularity conditions for the drift term. We partially recover the thresholds for the Hölder regularity that are optimal for weak uniqueness. In general dimension, we only consider and need an additional integrability assumption for the gradient of the drift: this condition is satisfied by Peano-type functions. In the one-dimensional case we do not need any additional assumption. In the multi-dimensional case, the proof is based on a first-order Zvonkin transform/PDE, while for the one-dimensional case we use a second-order Zvonkin/PDE transform together with a Watanabe–Yamada technique

    Il presente articolo si propone di realizzare un sondaggio nella lirica volgare italiana del XV secolo analizzando le modalità di ripresa, imitazione e rielaborazione della produzione di Francesco Petrarca. Per fare ciò, si utilizzeranno come caso di studio le Rime di Francesco Palmario, poeta anconetano attivo alla corte di Rimini tra gli anni ’50 e ’60 del secolo, autore di un canzoniere scritto in buona parte in nome del signore, Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, e dedicato alla sua amante Isotta degli Atti. Si analizzeranno l’influsso dei Rerum vulgarium fragmenta e le modalità con cui il modello petrarchesco ha interagito con la poesia isottea, concludendo con un’analisi stanza per stanza del componimento 102, interessante esempio di riscrittura della petrarchesca canzone 23, “delle metamorfosi”, su cui vengono innestati spunti danteschi.This paper aims to carry out a survey of Italian vernacular lyricism in the 15th century by analysing the ways in which Francesco Petrarca’s production was taken up, imitated and reworked. To do this, I will use as a case study the Rime of Francesco Palmario, a poet from Ancona active at the court of Rimini between the 1450s and 1460s, author of a canzoniere written largely in the name of his lord, Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta, and dedicated to his lover Isotta degli Atti. The influence of the Rerum vulgarium fragmenta will be analysed, as well as the ways in which the Petrarchan model interacted with Isottean vernacular poetry, concluding with an in-depth analysis of canzone 102, an interesting example of a rewriting of Petrarch’s canzone 23, known as delle metamorfosi, on which Dantean cues are grafted

    Changes in Sprint Momentum in Elite Rugby Union Players over a Three-Season Period

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of sprint momentum over three consecutive seasons in elite rugby union players, to assess how body mass and sprinting speed affected changes in momentum, and to determine the impact of between-season changes in momentum on a selection of technical/tactical match performance indicators. The body mass, 10-m sprinting speed, and momentum of n = 37 elite rugby union players (age: 25.9 ± 2.8 y; height: 186.5 ± 7.3 cm; 22 forwards and 15 backs) were assessed over three consecutive seasons (2018–2021). Linear mixed-effects models were used to examine the impact of between-season changes in body mass and speed on momentum, and of body mass, speed, and momentum on technical indicators. Increased speed and body mass led to higher momentum (ES = 1.06–1.44). Speed changes improved effective carries, ineffective carries, carries, linebreaks, and offloads (ES = 0.48–1.17), while they reduced tackles (ES = −1.29). Changes in body mass reduced tackles (ES = −0.22) and improved effective carries (ES = 0.89) and carries (ES = 0.75). Changes in momentum reduced tackles (ES = −0.26) and ineffective contests (ES = −0.27), and improved offloads (ES = 0.61), effective carries (ES = 0.59), and carries (ES = 0.51). In conclusion, between-season improvements of momentum are achievable in elite rugby players, and, together with changes in speed and/or body mass, can have an impact on the technical/tactical performance during match play

    ARMA Model for Tracking Accelerated Corrosion Damage in a Steel Beam

    This paper proposes an enhanced vibration-based damage detection index leveraging autoregressive moving average (ARMA) time-series modeling. The method relies on the fact that material deterioration alters the vibration features of the structure. Thus, the proposed method employs an innovative usage of the ARMA time-series modeling to capture subtle shifts in the vibration response. Specifically, first, a reference ARMA model is fitted on the acceleration response of the undamaged structure. Next, a damage index (DI) is built from the goodness of fit between predicted responses from the reference ARMA model and the actual measured damaged-state acceleration data. Experimental validation was conducted on a steel beam subjected to a controlled accelerated corrosion (up to 40% thickness loss), simulating real-world degradation. Accelerations due to quick-release tests were collected using two accelerometers, along with thickness measurements providing ground-truth damage progression. Results demonstrate that the proposed method can provide sufficient sensitivity in detecting early-stage corrosion progression. This finding highlights the proposed usage of ARMA model’s potential for early structural damage detection, offering significant advantages for safety and maintenance strategies in civil engineering applications
