Steel Additive Construction: New possibilities for efficient structural systems
The digitalization of the construction sector could potentially produce more efficient structures, reduce material waste and increase work safety. Current strategies for the realization of automated steel constructions see the application of metal Additive Manufacturing processes (and in particular Wire-and-Arc Additive Manufacturing, WAAM) as an opportunity to build a new generation of efficient steel structures with reduced material use. This, though, requires advanced multidisciplinary knowledge in manufacturing, metallurgy, structural engineering and computational design. Recent effort has been made in order to combine computational design with current digital fabrication procedures to realize resource-efficient steel structures for the future. The present work aims at providing an integrated design approach to develop resource-efficient structural elements combining computational design algo-rithms with considerations on the WAAM fabrication process, structural performances and verifications. The idea comes from the preliminary results achieved in terms of new structural optimization theories, fabrication of large-scale elements with WAAM and structural verification of first prototypes. The approach is applied to three classes of structural elements (beam, joint and column). The results aim at increasing the application of metal Additive Manufacturing in construction, through the development of a new generation of resource-efficient structural members
Active Redundancy in Fault Tolerance: A Modular Switch Level Solution with Synchronous Switching
Power electronics continues to have an ever-growing impact on day-to-day life and increased implementation in critical applications. Therefore, power converter reliability and pre-fault and post-fault behaviour become subjects of high relevance and interest. This paper proposes a switch-level active redundancy module having a synchronous switching scheme for fault-tolerant applications. The proposed solution is validated over a 5 kW full bridge forward converter. Further, existing fault-tolerant solutions, such as topology morphing and redundancy, are applied to the topology under study for in-depth analysis and comparison with the proposed solution
Prospettive civilistiche in ordine agli spazi di condivisione dei dati sanitari alla luce del Regolamento EHDS
Oggetto di questo lavoro monografico è l’approfondimento dei diritti e degli strumenti di tutela dell’interessato, previsti dall’ordinamento interno e da quello europeo, in caso di trattamento di dati sanitari al fine di cura del singolo e per il perseguimento dei bisogni della collettività, in precario equilibrio sul sottile filo che contempera il diritto all’autodeterminazione informativa con la libera circolazione dei dati per fini di ricerca scientifica. Nell’osservare l’esperienza dei singoli Stati membri dell’Unione Europea, si è appalesata una frammentazione ed una scarsa chiarezza della disciplina. Ciò ha indotto la legislazione unionale più recente a proporre un parziale superamento dell'impostazione del GDPR in ordine all'uso primario e secondario dei dati sanitari, indicando direttrici nuove, quali il rafforzamento dei diritti dell'interessato (segnatamente dei diritti di accesso, portabilità e rettifica nel regolamento EHDS), l'intermediazione di soggetti che suscitino fiducia nell'interessato e che lo supportino nella gestione dei propri dati personali (Data governante act), l'introduzione della necessità di un’autorizzazione amministrativa rilasciata da un Organismo pubblico per l’utilizzo secondario dei dati sanitari. Inoltre, il regolamento EHDS propone un rovesciamento delle priorità delle basi giuridiche per il trattamento dei dati sanitari (dalla prevalenza del consenso a quella dell’interesse pubblico, controbilanciata dalla possibilità per l’interessato di procedere all’opt-out). Oggetto di attenta analisi nell’ambito di tale lavoro sono pure i profili di responsabilità contrattuale od extracontrattuale, che possono nascere laddove vi si siano deviazioni rispetto ai termini e alle condizioni di accesso e riuso del flusso di dati sanitari

La valutazione economica del patrimonio culturale è un tema cruciale per supportare decisori pubblici e stakeholder privati nella definizione di strategie a favore dei beni culturali e paesaggistici, in un contesto caratterizzato da crescente complessità e incertezza.
Il contributo sviluppa un’analisi della letteratura scientifica volta a esplorare il ruolo della valutazione economica dei beni culturali, monetaria e non monetaria, e in relazione al ruolo dei Sistemi Informativi Geografici (GIS). L’analisi della letteratura restituisce lo stato dell’arte dell’ultimo decennio in termini di contenuti, tendenze emergenti ed eventuali lacune che possano condurre all’apertura di nuovi orizzonti di ricerca

A palindromic sequence on chromosome 4 of peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch) is flanking a large deletion related to a Slow Ripening Phenotype
Maturity date (MD) represents one of the main goals of the peach breeding programs worldwide with the aim to extend the harvest calendar. A major QTL linked to the trait was previously identified in peach and other stone fruits on LG4, and NAC genes were identified as the best candidates for the MD control. Here, a bud mutation affecting MD was found in a tree of the nectarine ‘Caldesi 2000′. The original variety (CW), its mutated sport (CM) and a segregating progeny obtained by selfing of CM was used to characterize the trait at phenotypic and molecular level. A panel of markers spanning the MD region was developed and a few recombinant plants were identified. A Non-ripening phenotype was observed in seedlings homozygous for one of the haplotypes, an effect probably caused by a large deletion of about 26 kb inactivating two transcription factors belonging to the NAC family (PpNAC072 and PpNAC1), similar, but independent, to a previously reported mutation associated to a slow ripening trait. The presence of palindromic sequences in the regions flanking the deletion may explain the occurrence of this phenomenon. The putative silencing of two members of the NAC family further supports the importance of these transcription factors in determining the MD phenotype. Further research is needed to elucidate functions and interactions between PpNAC072 and PpNAC1 in controlling the MD trait in peach and to determine the hierarchical expression of genes controlling fruit ripening
