Götterlisten in der hurro-hethitischen religiösen Überlieferung: Aufbau und Sprache
The contribution investigates the lists of deities (the so-called kaluti) as well as the lists of technical religious terminology attested in rituals of Hurrian origin
Understanding the roots of suicide in veterinarians to inform prevention: A scoping review
Background
Veterinarians experience one of the highest suicide rates of any profession. Beyond fatalities, growing evidence documents suicidal ideation and non-fatal attempts, but findings are fragmented.
Objective
To map risk and protective factors for suicidal behavior—including ideation, attempts, and death among licensed veterinarians.
Methods
Following Joanna Briggs Institute guidance and PRISMA-ScR reporting standards, we searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and CINAHL (2009–2024). Eligible studies examined empirical associations between any risk or protective factor and suicidal outcomes in veterinarians. Data were extracted on study design, sample, country, outcome, and key findings.
Results
Twelve studies from six countries met inclusion criteria (nine cross-sectional surveys, one qualitative interview study, one focus-group study, one retrospective mortality analysis). Suicide risk reflected the convergence of occupational stressors (workload, client conflict, euthanasia), psychological vulnerabilities (depression, perfectionism, burnout), demographic variables (gender, early-career status), and access to lethal means (particularly pentobarbital). Protective elements included peer and social support, job satisfaction, adaptive coping, and indirect secure storage of euthanasia agents. Evidence was limited by the predominance of cross-sectional self-report designs and by restricted geographic coverage.
Conclusions
Veterinarians face distinctive pressures that heighten the risk of suicidal ideation, attempts, and death. Multi-level strategies, such as supportive work environments, coping-skills training, peer-support programs, and evaluation of means-restriction policies, should be prioritized. Further longitudinal and cross-national studies are needed to clarify risk trajectories and strengthen preventive action

The role of chitosan in modulating physicochemical and biological behavior of solid lipid nanoparticles
Chitosan, a cationic polysaccharide known for its peculiar properties, plays a key role in enhancing biological interactions at mucosal surfaces. This study investigated the role and impact of chitosan on physicochemical and biological properties of Cyclosporine A -loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN). Three types of SLN were developed: SLN devoid of chitosan, chitosan-associated SLN during hot homogenization (CH-SLN), and chitosan-coated SLN (CH-c-SLN). Physicochemical characterization revealed differences in particle shape, with chitosan presence increasing particle size and zeta potential. SAXS/WAXS and DSC studies demonstrated that Cyclosporine A and chitosan influenced lipid organization and thermal behavior. Moreover, mucoadhesion and mucin interaction were stronger in chitosan-associated SLN (CH-SLN), as evidenced by SAXS and ITC, due to chitosan cationic nature. At last, preclinical studies revealed enhanced cellular uptake in presence of chitosan. These findings demonstrated that chitosan-associated SLN enhanced mucoadhesion and cellular interaction while maintaining structural integrity, providing a promising platform for drug delivery
Design of an Ultra-Low Power Quasi-Passive Error-Feedback Noise-Shaping SAR Converter for Audio Activity Detection
This doctoral thesis, carried out in collaboration with TDK-InvenSense, presents the study and the design of an ultra-low power Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) suited for Audio Activity Detection (AAD) features. Exploiting oversampling and noise-shaping techniques, a Successive-Approximation-Register (SAR) converter is boosted to achieve high-resolution and low-noise while consuming the lowest possible power. AAD circuits are used in a wide variety of battery-operated devices, such as mobile phones and wearable devices, where the need to preserve energy is crucial. For this reason and many others that are explained later, power consumption is one of the main aspects considered. In this thesis are explained the working principles of a Quasi-Passive Error-Feedback Noise-Shaping SAR (QP-EF-NS-SAR) converter, from the conception to the measurements, passing through all the design steps that led to the final physical implementation. This converter reaches 78 dB of Dynamic Range (DR) achieving a Schreier Figure-of-Merit (FoMs) of 165.3 dB. Fabricated in a 65-nm BCD process, the proposed ADC core occupies 0.129 μm^2 consuming only 14.9 μW from a 1.2-V supply. This doctoral thesis, carried out in collaboration with TDK-InvenSense, presents the study and the design of an ultra-low power Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) suited for Audio Activity Detection (AAD) features.
