On the role of water utility governance for climate resilience: A Corporate Social Responsibility Directive approach
It is widely recognized that climate change poses one of the main threats to human beings and businesses reliant on natural resources and vulnerable to climate-related events. Given the importance of water as indispensable for individual well-being, water utilities must prioritize climate preparedness to ensure high-quality service production. This effort involves, for instance, adopting a long-term planning approach and implementing measures to adapt to evolving conditions, reduce climate change vulnerabilities, and maintain the production of clean drinking water and wastewater services. According to the literature, governance is recognized as crucial to integrate climate change within the organization, but scholars are also calling for a deeper understanding of how it could be reorganized effectively to handle climate change and guarantee organizational resilience in the long term. Based on the governance framework proposed by the new Corporate Social Responsibility Directive (CSR-d), the research explores if and how AQUA, an Italian water utility, can integrate climate change within its governance. The results suggest that the utility considers climate change from the agility, adaptive, and transformative perspectives depending on the governance dimensions considered. Implications for management and policymakers are discussed
Feeling and Healing in Different Spaces and Phases: How Individuals Coped With the Pandemic Cognitively, Affectively, and Conatively
This research investigates individuals' reactions and coping strategies during a prolonged health crisis over distinct temporal phases (i.e., early and late stages of the pandemic) and geographical locations (i.e., Australia, Finland, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, and the United States). Using the infectious disease threat (IDT) appraisal model as a guide, we conducted two separate studies at different intervals to investigate the coping strategies individuals utilised in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings revealed cross-country differences in cognitive (i.e., COVID-19 risk perception and vaccine uncertainty), affective (i.e., hope, fear, shame, and anger), and conative (i.e., preventive behavioural intentions, vaccination intentions, and preventive behavioural engagement) outcomes, shaped by cultural and policy influences. Mediation and moderation analyses showed that the coping mechanism of cognitive appraisal indirectly influenced conative coping through affective responses, which could be contingent on pandemic fatigue. This research contributes to crisis and health communication literature by offering a more nuanced understanding of how individuals across different countries cope with and manage a long-lasting public health crisis and provides key takeaways for advancing pandemic communication theory and practice
The Routledge Handbook of Employee Communication and Organizational Processes
This Routledge Handbook takes a truly global and multidisciplinary approach to exploring all facets of employee communication.
Beginning with two key disciplinary approaches—organizational communication and public relations—scholars capture and define employee communication from both perspec‐ tives, addressing commonalities and bridging disciplinary differences. This volume places importance on the everyday communicative behaviors by internal members such as leaders, managers, inter/generational cohorts, employees, and those working on behalf of organi‐ zations, such as social media influencers, and on expansive conceptualizations of employee such as chatbots, environment, and global supply chain members involved in organizing. With a focus on employees in situ, the authors respond to these key questions: in what ways is employee communication relevant today? What does employee communication entail? How, why, and to what extent do employee communication influence or is influenced by organizational processes
Collaborative Translation: Product Quality Assurance and Practice Evaluation
The study of Collaborative Translation has only in the last few years become
part of Translation Studies, giving rise to a vast number of questions related
to this practice, which in turn open up the analysis of an equally great
number of issues. Among these are concerns regarding the evaluation and
quality assurance of translations carried out collaboratively, a crucial issue
especially when dealing with collaboration between semi-professionals and
non-professionals. It is precisely this analysis that will be developed in this
essay: in particular, we will analyze the answers to a questionnaire that was
specifically created to evaluate the collaborative translation process and the
final product, both in terms of the quality of the translated text and of the
usefulness for the translators in terms of skills and from a personal point
of view
A Proposal for the Sustainable Enhancement of the Cultural and Social Heritage of the Alps: The Project “La Montagna al Femminile”
The snow-based tourism, long a cornerstone of economic development for mountain destinations in the Italian Alps, is increasingly unsustainable. This study explores the potential of a cultural project dedicated to showcasing the representation of women in Alpine spaces as an alternative pull factor to alpine tourism. The project aims to revitalise the cultural and social heritage of Alpine regions, offering them renewed appeal while promoting sustainable development practices. Aligned with the Declaration of Jena, the project also aims to foster cultural sustainability by amplifying the often-overlooked contributions of women across professional, cultural, artistic, and recreational spheres in the Alps

Emotional Reactions To AI-Generated Images: A Pilot Study Using Neurophysiological Measures
The rise of generative AI (GAI), powered by deep learning models and large datasets, is impacting on several fields due to its ability to produce highly realistic synthetic data. However, understanding emotional responses to AI-generated content, particularly images, remains a critical, understudied, and emerging area of investigation. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a pilot study with 33 participants, using neurophysiological measures (EEG and SC) and self-reports (SAM) to compare emotional responses to real and AI-generated images. In addition, the effect of the participants' awareness of the image origin (AI-generated, real, and undetermined) was investigated. Linear mixed models (LMMs) with by-subject and by-stimulus random intercepts were fitted. Despite no significant results were found for the SAM questionnaires, findings emerged from the neurophysiological measures. The awareness of the image origin (AI-generated cue) showed an expectation effect on both EEG and SC, significantly affecting both valence and arousal. Additionally, the image origin itself (AI-generated) increased arousal, probably due to the hyper-realism, complexity, and novelty of the stimuli. Our contribution emphasises the importance of further research in this area to better understand the interplay between AI and human emotions
in the management literature, the causes that explain the adoption
of AI tools by SMEs and their perceptions towards it still remain
under explored. This empirical study is based on a survey applying
the TOE model - a tool particularly suited to analyze the
organizational adoption of technological innovation - administered
to a sample of Italian SMEs. The results show a still generally
modest use of AI, and identify 3 different organizational profiles
describing the behaviors and attitudes of Italian SMEs towards AI:
the forced, the cautious, and the innovators. This research
contributes to the management literature focused on SMEs
through: i) an exploratory analysis applying the TOE model to
understand the relevance of technological, organizational, and
environmental dimensions to the adoption of AI tools; ii) an
analysis of the perceived benefits and risks associated with the use
of AI
