Digital Ito. New media New Reality
How does the new world, increasingly dominated by information and its flows, express itself in
architecture? What choices, what revolution, what new sensibility is emerging?
How is it possible, through a logical leap or a burst of creative ingenuity, to address the multiple reasons and situations of the contemporary world and, at the same time, ensure that the new potential
linked to electronics can be transformed, reified into architecture?
The volume Ito Digitale allows readers to systematically study many elements of the work of the great Japanese architect, to follow the still-evolving lines of his thought, and to anticipate built outcomes that appear even more interesting and exciting than those of the past
Archeologia della moda. Heritage archivi comunicazione
The essay explores the strong relationship between Aristophanes and Marco Martinelli for the past thirty yeats, highlighting the role of ancient comedy in the pedagogy of the non-scuola and in choral projects with adolescents. The re-readings and staging of "Peace" developed with Parma, London, and Chickenshed theatre, and the projects in Scampia (Naples) and Pompei serve as a dialogue with present conflicts. Martinelli's work provides insights for a theatre pedadogy based on listening and transformation
"Fabio Vittorini"
San Giovanni in Conca a Milano
The present essay seeks to bring to light an unpublished and unrealized project: the commission entrusted by the Municipality of Milan to the BBPR architects for the reconstruction of the medieval church crypt of San Giovanni in Conca within the Castello Sforzesco. Conceived in the immediate post-war period, the initiative falls within a phase of intense urban transformation in the city and prompts reflection on the delicate equilibrium between urban development, the safeguarding of historical heritage, and the authenticity of architectural works.
The church of San Giovanni in Conca, possibly of early medieval origin, underwent numerous alterations over the centuries: Romanesque and Gothic reconstructions, Baroque restorations, and substantial nineteenth-century modifications, culminating in its near-total demolition in the aftermath of the Second World War to accommodate new urban plans. Even the Romanesque crypt, already designated as a protected monument in 1911, was threatened with disappearance. It was in this context that the idea emerged to relocate it to the Castello Sforzesco, where the BBPR architects were already engaged in the restoration and adaptation of the castle spaces to serve as the seat of the municipal museums.
The proposal, advanced by the acting Director of the Museums, Costantino Baroni, aimed to ensure the preservation of the crypt while rendering it more accessible to the public. Drawings dating from 1948 illustrate a hypothetical reconstruction situated beneath the ducal courtyard, conceived to evoke the atmosphere of the original setting, albeit with inevitable compromises in terms of material authenticity.
The crypt and the apse of the church were ultimately spared from demolition thanks to the intervention of the Superintendency for Lombardy Monuments, directed by Guglielmo Pacchioni, and the project for the relocation of the crypt fortunately remained unexecuted
Urban Public Transport Use and Socioeconomic Conditions in Genoa: A Logistic Regression Analysis and the Role of Artificial Intelligence
The introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in public transportation
networks presents a tremendous opportunity for efficiency, access and
sustainability, in concert with larger conservation of environment and
maximization of resources. Socioeconomic and demographic factors’
contribution toward public transportation use in Genoa, Italy, is
examined in an ordered logistic model of analysis in this work. Outcomesmreveal residential location and gender to be the most significant factors, with reduced use of public transportation for suburban residents and increased use for females. With these trends in mobility, AI-facilitated technology can contribute to lessening access inequality in transportation, enhancing fleet efficiency and minimizing environmental footprint. With predictive analysis, real-time scheduling and personalized routing, AI can enhance current ineffectiveness, particularly in residential areas with less developed public transportation infrastructure. Real-time demand forecasting and price-setting through big-data analysis can contribute toward a cleaner and fairer transportation system. This study presents a baseline for AI integration in urban mobility planning, with its role in closing socioeconomic gaps, enhancing efficiency in public transportation and reducing greenhouse emissions. In follow-up studies, AI use in decarbonization in transportation, computerized fleet management and
resilient mobility infrastructure can be studied in relation to urban transit planning, in consonance with international objectives for sustainabilit

Verbalizzare l’immagine. L’ekphrasis e la poesia italiana dagli anni Cinquanta a oggi
This research explores how visual sources can be translated into language through ekphrasis, focusing on Italian poetry from the 1950s to today. The study’s main goals are to redefine ekphrastic technique in light of evolving media and literary trends and to analyze both the internal and external functions of ekphrasis. This involves examining the subjects and elements within the ekphrastic setup, the forms of textual organization it assumes, and the characteristics of the visual objects described.
Additionally, this dissertation aims to organize recent theoretical work on contemporary ekphrastic studies, especially from the last three decades, while offering a concise historical overview of ekphrasis and its evolution across genres. Finally, it suggests new directions for future research, incorporating tools from narratology and transmedia studies into ekphrastic theory.
To analyze Italian poetry, this study combines traditional rhetorical-stylistic methods with approaches from visual studies, particularly those emerging from contemporary ekphrastic research. Through close reading, ekphrastic texts in Italian poetry were analysed to determine key characteristics of ekphrastic forms. This process involved distinguishing between ekphrasis-as-dispositif and ekphrasis-as-text, aiming to clarify the boundaries of ekphrasis while including texts that might traditionally be excluded. By moving from external structures to internal content, the study isolates a continuum of ekphrastic recognizability and examines textual configurations in relation to macrotextual structure and the media characteristics of the visual objects described.
The research unfolds in two main parts: historical-theoretical and analytical. The first chapter sketches a foundational history of ekphrasis from its Greco-Roman origins to contemporary Italian literature. Chapter two surveys modern ekphrastic studies, focusing on the word-image relationship, social and ideological functions, and recent definitions and taxonomies. Chapter three offers a new definition of ekphrasis, treating it as both a process and a verbalization. Chapter four introduces the concept of ekphrastic recognizability continuum, distinguishing categories such as discovered, allusive, traceable hidden, and hypothetical hidden ekphrasis. The fifth chapter examines textual structures that characterize ekphrastic expressions and explores the particularities of various ekphrastic objects.
In conclusion, this research opens up possibilities for future study, such as applying cognitive narratology to ekphrastic techniques or systematically mapping ekphrastic forms in Italian literature
