Das oberste Ziel hierbei ist es, neurokognitive und endokrine Funktionseinschränkungen zu reduzieren und Langzeitfolgen wie Sekundärkarzinome bei gleichzeitiger optimaler Dosisapplikation im zu bestrahlenden Gebiet zu vermeiden
Establishing a Chain of Trust in a Sporadically Connected Cyber-Physical System
Drone based applications have progressed significantly in recent years across many industries, including agriculture. This paper proposes a sporadically connected cyber-physical system for assisting winemakers and minimizing the travel time to remote and poorly connected infrastructures. A set of representative diseases and conditions, which will be monitored by land-bound sensors in combination with multispectral images, is identified. To collect accurate data, a trustworthy and secured communication of the drone with the sensors and the base station should be established. We propose to use an Internet of Things framework for establishing a chain of trust by securely onboarding drones, sensors and base station, and providing self-adaptation support for the use case. Furthermore, we perform a security analysis of the use case for identifying potential threats and security controls that should be in place for mitigating them.Forschung Burgenlan
Energy-economic assessment of reduced district heating system temperatures
It is in the DNA of district heating (DH) systems that low temperatures are crucial for efficiency, guaranteeing cost competitiveness and integrating alternative heat sources. The general conviction within the DH community is, that reduced temperatures have positive effects for the whole system and economic benefits can be expected. However, there is a lack in evidence-based data to evaluate these effects in monetary terms. The innovative approach of this work is to analyze key characteristics for different technologies by means of energy-economic assessments to show evidence-based energy-related and monetary benefits of reduced system temperatures. The proven benefits should increase the motivation and conviction of utilities and customers in low-temperature systems, both for reducing system temperatures in existing networks and for new networks. The key indicator cost reduction gradient (CRG), introduced in previous work, was applied for the energy-economic assessment of reduced system temperatures. In total, investigations of nine heat generation technologies, the DH network itself and four storage types are presented. The CRGs for the heat generation technologies varies from 0.08 to 0.67 €/(MWh·°C). In the case of alternative heat generation technologies such as heat pumps and solar thermal, a higher sensitivity of the monetary effects compared to traditional heat generation technologies can be observed. Developments and Challenges in Local Electricity Markets: A Comprehensive Review
In recent years, power systems have undergone changes in technology and definition of the associated stakeholders. With the increase in distributed renewable generation and small- to medium-sized consumers starting to actively participate on the supply side, a suitable incorporation of decentralized agents into the power system is required. A promising scheme to support this shift is given by local electricity markets. These provide an opportunity to extend the liberal wholesale markets for electrical power found in Europe and the United States to the communal level. Compared to these more established markets, local electricity markets, however, neither have few practical implementations nor standardized frameworks. In order to fill this research gap and classify the types of local electricity markets, the presented paper therefore starts with the challenges that these markets attempt to solve. This is then extended to an analysis of the theoretical and practical background with a focus on these derived challenges. The theoretical background is provided in the form of an introduction to state-of-the-art models and the associated literature, whereas the practical background is provided in form of a summary of ongoing and recent projects on local electricity markets. As a result, this paper presents a foundation for future research and projects attempting to approach the here presented challenges in distribution of generation, integration of demand response, decentralization of markets and legal and social issues via local electricity markets.Forschung Burgenlan
Automated and Secure Onboarding for System of Systems
The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly changing the number of connected devices and the way they interact with each other. This increases the need for an automated and secure onboarding procedure for IoT devices, systems and services. Device manufacturers are entering the market with internet connected devices, ranging from small sensors to production devices, which are subject of security threats specific to IoT. The onboarding procedure is required to introduce a new device in a System of Systems (SoS) without compromising the already onboarded devices and the underlying infrastructure. Onboarding is the process of providing access to the network and registering the components for the first time in an IoT/SoS framework, thus creating a chain of trust from the hardware device to its hosted software systems and their provided services. The large number and diversity of device hardware, software systems and running services raises the challenge to establish a generic onboarding procedure. In this paper, we present an automated and secure onboarding procedure for SoS. We have implemented the onboarding procedure in the Eclipse Arrowhead framework. However, it can be easily adapted for other IoT/SoS frameworks that are based on Service-oriented Architecture (SoA) principles. The automated onboarding procedure ensures a secure and trusted communication between the new IoT devices and the Eclipse Arrowhead framework. We show its application in a smart charging use case and perform a security assessment.Informationstechnologie und Informationsmanagemen
