This dissertation investigates the effect of digital payment systems on the spending habits of young adults aged 18-25 in Kerala, India. The main goal is to examine the ways in which digital payments affect consumption and monetary practices of this population. In this study, the quantitative research approach was employed hence the structured questionnaires were responded to by 158 participants out of which 100 were valid responses and were analyzed using the SPSS software. This research also concludes that young people have benefited from digital payments in making the transactions easier going by the fact that 79% of the participants preferred digital methods of payment to cash. However, this convenience of digital payment does not even create a significant shift in the total expenditure ratio. The perception of security in digital payments is also positive though it does not influence the spending of the respondents and was also liked by 53% of the respondents. This was done in a bid to show that even though security is essential for adoption, it is not sufficient to influence change in the financial behaviour of people in the long-run. Some important discoveries indicate that trust and reliability in mobile payments are critical drivers of spending. It is also evident that participants who have positive attitudes towards reliability of digital payments exhibit greater shifts in their consumption behavior than those who are concerned with the security of the payment methods. Also, there is the convenience of buying goods and services online and eating out due to the availability of digital payments. Nonetheless, entertainment spending reduces slightly, and this shows that digital payments have a differential influence on spending. Thus, it is important to conclude that, despite the increased convenience and features, such as expense tracking, digital payments have a multifaceted effect on spending behavior. The research emphasize on the trust regarding the digital payment systems and it is also indicating that more research could be done on the long term behavioral modification and the impact of digital payments on various consumer segments

We live in an era marked by swift digitization of businesses activities and global data transfers, safeguarding personal information across boundaries (national and supra-national) has subsequently become a crucial issue for corporations and governments alike. In “Navigating Cross-Border Data Transfers; A Comparative Analysis of Data Protection Legislation for Businesses in Ireland and Kenya,” the paper seeks to critically compare and assess the legal frameworks that govern data protection legislation in the two vastly different jurisdictions. Notably, Ireland abides by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which has acted as a predecessor of data protection rules internationally and is a member of the European Union (EU). In contrast, Kenya often called the ‘Silicon Savannah’ functions under the framework of the Data Protection Act, 2019, a recent law that has played a significant role in the development of data protection in East Afric

This dissertation examines the impact of tax incentives on government revenue in Liberia's mining sector. It assesses the effectiveness of these incentives in promoting investment, economic growth, and job creation while aiming for sustainable development and adequate revenue for public services. The study explores the various incentives and subsidies created by the Government of Liberia (GOL) through provisions in various incentive agreements in the mining sector. It aims to ensure that tax expenditures or conventional expenditures provide the most cost-effective approach to delivering policy goals rather than resulting in dwindling tax revenues and overall fiscal distortion. The research sets out the objectives for structuring fiscal regimes in the mining sector and analyses the different forms in which special taxes may be imposed in concert with the Liberia Revenue Code (LRC) and the challenges faced in awarding concession agreements. The importance of the mining sector in the Liberian economy and the special taxation regimes imposed in some concession agreements are discussed as examples of the application of different fiscal regimes and their potential negative effects on Liberia's ability to mobilize revenue from the sector effectively. The study concludes with recommendations for realigning tax policies in the mining sector to enhance economic growth, increase government revenue, attract investment, and ensure sustainable resource management. The research provides a comprehensive analysis of the current tax incentive framework and its implications for Liberia's development

This study explored the impact of Kudumbashree microfinance schemes on the sustainability of women-led businesses in Kerala, with a focus on understanding how loans are utilised, assessing the long-term effects on business growth, and analysing the influence of institutional support. The study was guided by key research questions aimed at uncovering the specific ways in which women entrepreneurs use these loans, the challenges they face in sustaining their businesses, and how institutional factors contribute to or hinder their success. To address these questions, a qualitative research approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with 8 women micro-entrepreneurs who had received loans from the Kudumbashree program. The data collected from these interviews was analysed using thematic analysis, which allowed the identification of patterns related to loan utilisation, business sustainability, and institutional support. The findings reveal that while Kudumbashree loans significantly support the initial phases of business operations, challenges such as limited marketing and digitalisation investment and insufficient ongoing training stans in the way of the business reaching its full potential. Institutional support, particularly in terms of loan application processes and community networks, was found to be crucial, but the lack of continuous monitoring and follow-up training emerged as a key weakness. Based on these findings, the study recommended enhancing ongoing support and training for women entrepreneurs, improving the loan monitoring processes, and encouraging strategic investments in areas such as marketing and digitalisation to ensure the long-term success of these businesses. These recommendations are aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of Kudumbashree and similar microfinance programs in promoting sustainable economic development

As worries about the environment and resource scarcity have grown, sustainable practices have become more important not only for organizations but also for the global society. International students represent a diverse population who contribute significantly to the food system in Ireland. This dissertation investigated the factors that influence the consumption of sustainable food among international students in Ireland, with a focus on the motivations driving their choices as well as the barriers they face. The study used mixed-methods, combining quantitative surveys in the form of questionnaire collected from 54 international students in Ireland, and qualitative interviews within 4 other students to gain a thoroughly understanding of their attitudes, behaviours, and challenges. The findings revealed that key motivations for sustainable food consumption include health consciousness, environmental consciousness, and social influences, particularly the alignment with the values of the society they live within. The study also highlighted the role of institutional supports and the influence of pride/guilt feelings on students' purchase intentions. Besides, although students' diet is strongly shaped and influenced by their cultural background, they are also receptive to sustainable eating habits from other cultures. On the other hand, barriers to their sustainable food consumption intention include the high price of sustainable food products, and the mistrust in the sustainable labelling system, while unavailability does not seem to be a significant barrier that prevents international students in Ireland from making more sustainable food choices. Based on the findings, the dissertation offered several recommendations for stakeholders. For policymakers, the emphasis is on creating policies that enhance the accessibility and affordability of sustainable food. Educational institutions are encouraged to integrate sustainability into their curricula and campus life. Food service providers are urged to offer more culturally diverse and affordable sustainable food options. In conclusion, this research contributed to the understanding of sustainable food consumption in a multicultural context and offered practical recommendations to support international students in making sustainable food choices. Reflecting on this research journey, the author has gained significant insights into the complexities of sustainable food practices and the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing global challenges

In this study, the inventory management practices of a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) wholesale organization in Ireland were analyzed to identify the challenges, assess the effectiveness of current practices, and develop strategic recommendations for improvement. The company imports goods from South American and Asian nations, but it has serious problems with stockouts, manual inventory procedures, and logistics. This study used a qualitative case study methodology, conducting in-depth interviews with important organization members to learn about their systems, technology, and inventory management practices. The results showed that although the company uses Sage software to manage inventory well for simple activities, it faces challenges with delays in logistics, which often result in stockouts, and lacks sophisticated technology tools for inventory optimization and demand forecasting. The study also showed that the existing dependence on manual procedures restricts scalability and takes a lot of time, even if skilled workers can produce high accuracy. The organization's usage of key performance indicators (KPIs) like stockout rates and sales performance was found to be beneficial; however, more comprehensive measures like customer satisfaction and supply chain efficiency might be added to improve the KPIs even further. The study concluded by recommending the integration of advanced technologies like RFID and IoT to improve inventory tracking and forecasting accuracy, as well as the expansion of KPIs to provide a more holistic view of inventory management performance. The study's conclusion included expanding KPIs to give a more comprehensive picture of inventory management performance as well as integrating cutting-edge technologies like RFID and IoT to increase inventory monitoring and forecasting accuracy. These suggestions are meant to assist the company in improving its operational effectiveness, lowering stockouts, and better meeting client demand in a competitive sector. In addition to providing useful insights for enhancing inventory management practices through strategic technological integration and process optimization, this research advances knowledge of the inventory management difficulties faced by SMEs in the wholesale sector, particularly those that depend on foreign suppliers
