The Current Technological Landscape in Material Extrusion, Debinding and Sintering of Metal Parts

    No full text
Material Extrusion Additive Manufacturing Debinding and Sintering (MEX+D&S) is a multistep technology that allow to realize metal parts using as feedstock a mixture of polymeric binders and metal powder and a heated nozzle to deposit it layer-by-layer. There are several process parameters that act in each stage and can influence the part performances on a micro and macro level. The actual results in terms of density, mechanical and microstructural properties and shrinkage for stainless steel (316L and 17-4 PH) and pure copper parts are reported and discussed. Furthermore, an overview of outlooks and sustainable approaches are summarized

Multi-Criteria Decision Making and Artificial Intelligence for the School system: a systematic literature review

    No full text
The right to education is a universally recognized right and school is a fundamental place in modern society. Everyone must have the opportunity to attend and receive quality education. For this reason, it is important that school facilities are accessible to all, eliminating architectural barriers that hinder or limit students with disabilities. Quantitative tools such as multicriteria models and artificial intelligence can represent a driving force to support the school system in the evaluation processes that are crucial for improving school accessibility but more generally the services provided to students and families in general. This work aims to offer a systematic analysis of the literature that analyzes the areas of application of tools such as MCDM (Multi Criteria Decision Making) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) in school contexts with particular attention to the accessibility of schools

The Role of Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) in Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC): Biology, Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Opportunities

    No full text
Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) is a common malignancy, often diagnosed incidentally. In recent years, the prognosis of metastatic disease has been improved due to the development of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) as first-line treatments. However, when progression occurs, the therapeutic options are limited. Understanding crucial biological pathways could lead to a greater understanding of the natural history of the disease, which could help to overcome the mechanism of resistance and to develop new treatments. The clinical significance of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) in RCC remains to be investigated. To improve the knowledge about this topic, we conducted a narrative review to summarize the current evidence on HRD-related variations and signatures in RCC, together with their prognostic and predictive implications. Preliminary evidence indicates that canonical HRD variants (BRCA1/2) are infrequent in RCC, while broader DNA damage response (DDR) alterations like BAP1, PBRM1, ATM, and SETD2 are more prevalent. Elevated HRD genomic scores in clear-cell RCC correlate with a worse prognosis and an immunologically exhausted microenvironment. From a therapeutic point of view, PARP inhibitor monotherapy has exhibited initial efficacy in small cohorts with high levels of DDR mutation, yet remains investigational for RCC

Metabolic profiling of pea (Pisum sativum) cultivars in changing environments: Implications for nutritional quality in animal feed

    No full text
Field pea seeds have long been recognized as valuable feed ingredients for animal diets, due to their high-quality protein and starch digestibility. However, the chemical composition of pea cultivars can vary across different growing locations, consequently impacting their nutrient profiles. This study employs untargeted metabolomics in conjunction with the quantification of fatty acids and amino acids to explore the influence of three different growing locations in Spain (namely Andalusia, Aragon and Asturias), on the nutritional characteristics of seeds of various pea cultivars. Significant interactions between cultivar and environment were observed, with 121 metabolites distinguishing pea profiles. Lipids, lipid-like molecules, phenylpropanoids, polyketides, carbohydrates, and amino acids were the most affected metabolites. Fatty acid profiles varied across locations, with higher C16:0, C18:0, and 18:1 n-9 concentration in Aragon, while C18:2 n-6 predominated in Asturias and C18:3 n-3 in Andalusia. Amino acid content was also location-dependent, with higher levels in Asturias. These findings underscore the impact of environmental factors on pea metabolite profiles and emphasize the importance of selecting pea cultivars based on specific locations and animal requirements. Enhanced collaboration between research and industry is crucial for optimizing pea cultivation for animal feed production
