AbstractThe Educational and Didactic Potential of Forests, Chestnut Groves, and Olive Groves in Territorial Education: A Project in the Savona HinterlandThis paper presents some reflections from a research project in the field of geography teaching that involved the children of the fifth class at Borghetto Santo Spirito Primary School (Istituto Comprensivo Val Varatella). This experience stems from the need to make the children of our villages understand that the territory is a space organised and modified by human activities, with particular reference to the forest, chestnut grove and olive grove. An attempt has been made to analyse, in particular, the relationship that human beings have established with these spaces, which has proven to be constructive, moreover the destructive impact of certain human activities has not been overlooked

Emptio in frode ai creditori tra affidamento del terzo e surrogazione reale nell’ad edictum paolino

AbstractThe research examines in a palingenetic key D. 42.8.7 and D. 42.8.9 (Paul. 62 ad ed.), and shows how the restitutio in integrum ob fraudem offered to curator bonorum by the praetor's edict in Ulp. D. 42.8.1 pr. against acts of disposition in fraud of creditors was configured by the interpretatio to verba edicti consolidated for the the Severian age by a balancing of interests between the reasons of creditors and those resulting from the inno-cent trust of third parties, if one considers that the super-individual interest in the stability of trades follows from the synapse between the onerousness of the title of purchase from the debtor, the good faith of the assignee, the possibility of subrogation in rem where the property has come into the possession of a sub-purchaser and the annual limitation period, starting from the integration of the deed obliging the transfer

Beyond Ethical Visibility: Rethinking Marine Life as Epistemic Figures in Posthumanism

    No full text
ABSTRACTThis article explores how marine organisms can be reconsidered as epistemic figures within posthumanist thought. While posthumanism has advanced significant critiques of anthropocentrism, it has often privileged terrestrial animals and land-based metaphors in its rethinking of human-nonhuman relations. By contrast, many oceanic lifeforms – such as corals and “Pinna nobilis” – have remained epistemologically marginalized, ethically invisible, and conceptually under-theorized. This paper challenges the dominant frameworks that overlook marine beings whose bodies, temporalities, and ecological functions do not easily lend themselves to anthropomorphic identification. Drawing on feminist materialisms, critical posthumanist theories, and marine humanities, the article proposes an expanded oceanic posthumanism that foregrounds the ontological opacity, multispecies entanglements, and sensory alterities of sea creatures. Rather than treating marine life as passive matter or solely conservation targets, this study positions them as methodological provocations, inviting alternative imaginaries and forms of knowledge beyond terrestrial and ocular-centric paradigms

Cittadini di quale classe? Appartenenza censitaria e stigma sociale nell’Atene classica

ABSTRACTCitizens of which class? Census membership and social stigma in classical AthensThis article discusses the meaning and implications of the census classes in classical Athens, with a particular focus on the fourth class – the thetes. It argues that Athenian citizens were less inclined to highlight their professional identities on private inscriptions, such as gravestones and dedications, than non-citizen residents of Athens. This may reflect the social stigma attached to the figure of the thete – the paid labourer – dating back to the archaic period

Policies of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Andalusia (Spain): Development, Trends and Privatization Effects

    No full text
AbstractThis article analyses the consequences of the development of the Early Childhood Education for 0 to 3 years old model implemented in Andalusia (Spain), whose enrolment achievements have been based on extensive reliance on private providers. The analysis is based on in-depth interviews and statistical data from official sources. The findings show how reliance on a privatized model generates economic and territorial barriers to access, as well as affecting the quality of services and schooling conditions. These are negatively affected by the economic constraints of private schools, worse working conditions and difficulties in training and coordination. As a result, schools prioritize basic welfare aspects over educational projects and pedagogical innovation

Interculturality in EFL Education as a Gateway to Religious Moderation: Voices from Religion-Based School Teachers

    No full text
AbstractThis study investigates EFL teachers’ conceptions of Intercultural Language Learning (IcLL) in Indonesian Madrasah Aliyah and examines how they link intercultural learning with the promotion of religious moderation. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry design, data were generated through a preparatory questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with five English teachers. Thematic analysis, informed by Bennett’s Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS), was used to interpret teachers’ intercultural orientations and classroom practices. The findings show that teachers view IcLL as fundamental to language learning and as a strategic medium for cultivating open, tolerant, respectful learners while reinforcing religious moderation. Most teachers are positioned between minimisation and acceptance, with some evidence of emerging adaptation. However, the enactment of IcLL remains uneven and dependent on school context, teacher training, and the availability of culturally rich materials

The Transition to Work of Education and Pedagogy Graduates: A Mixed-Methods Longitudinal Study from Sapienza University (2008-2018)

    No full text
AbstractThis article presents a mixed-methods longitudinal study on the transition to work of graduates in Education (Bachelor’s degree) and Pedagogy (Master’s degree) at Sapienza University of Rome between 2008 and 2018. Integrating administrative records (UNI.CO dataset) with narrative reconstructions of 23 career trajectories, the study explores employment outcomes through two indicators: the Employment Index and the Coherence Index. The findings reveal persistent contractual precariousness, high fragmentation in early career paths, and a gradual decline in job-coherence over the observed period. While formal alignment between degrees and job functions remains high, actual employment conditions raise critical concerns. The capability approach and narrative analysis help uncover the subjective and structural factors that shape the work transitions of graduates. Gender, academic performance and study regularity emerge as relevant but not decisive factors. The article concludes by stressing the need for educational policy to recognize the specific challenges faced by graduates in education-related fields and to enhance the quality and stability of their professional opportunities

Feeling Like a Bat: A Critique of Thomas Nagel

    No full text
ABSTRACTAccording to Thomas Nagel’s thought, human beings are incapable of subjectively experiencing what a bat experiences. The only possibilities outlined by the philosopher are: (1) the objective analysis of ethological expressions, that is, the description of the phenomenon of the bat; (2) analogical projection, which we shall refer to as analogism to distinguish it from the concept of analogy used in evolutionary biology – effectively, anthropomorphism. If, by definition, objective analysis cannot be considered subjective, the second point entails an even more radical negation, as it relies on a human-centred projection. The human perspective undoubtedly possesses specific characteristics, yet the error lies in viewing these as exclusive. This mistake stems from the enduring influence of an essentialist conception of living beings that characterises the humanist approach. Such a view tends to treat the umwelt as a kind of self-contained monad, shared solely within the human species. From an evolutionary standpoint, however, different species share broad traits, meaning that various umwelten exhibit overlapping domains. Given that the strict distinction between objectivity and subjectivity is itself debatable – Nagel himself refers to the bat’s echolocation – the true error lies in assuming that analogism is the only available approach

Forme alternative di partecipazione politica in Isocrate

    No full text
ABSTRACT Alternative forms of political participation in Isocrates This paper deals with a particular aspect of the field of study concerning citizen participation in the governance of a democratic polis, focusing on the figure that Aristotle refers to as the archomenos polites (Pol. III 1277a 20). The aim is to investigate whether this figure also appears in Isocrates’ political thought. Following an initial section dedicated to the lexicon of political participation in the works of the orator, with particular attention to the expression oi politeuomenoi(par. 1), the paper examines both Isocrates’ theoretical reflection on the category of «passive citizens» (par. 2) and the account he provides of his personal experience as a citizen who has deliberately chosen to refrain from active political engagement, opting instead to assume the role of advisor to his fellow citizens (par. 3)
