The Gifted Student: Gifts and Talents Development
Abstract The concept of giftedness has evolved significantly over time. Today, it still lacks a singular and precise definition, but it is continually evolving. One notable model found in the literature is the Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent (DMGT) by Gagné. This model appears to be a valid contribution to better understanding giftedness, the characteristics of gifted students and the problems related to these constructs. The article aims to highlight the characteristics of gifted students, underlining critical points and strengths in relation to the various contexts, specifically to the school context, and to Gagné’s model (personal, scholastic, environmental and social), with a focus on future implications
La retorica della sostenibilità: indicatori territoriali e ricerca sul campo in Alta Valtellina
AbstractThe Rhetoric of Sustainability: Territorial Indicators and Field Research in Alta Valtellina This paper compares statistical data on environmental sustainability with the governmental actions of the territory, which really affect the protection of the landscape and ecosystem elements. Case study is the Alta Valtellina, and the work focuses on Lago Bianco at the Gavia Pass, a remnant specimen of arctic tundra in the Stelvio National Park, exploited to capture water for artificial snow-making on ski slopes. This research shows the socio-cultural and economic dynamics underlying the relationship between mountain environment, protected nature, tourism and population, which recount experiences of vulnerability, lack of protection and conflict

Si può misurare il benessere? Riflessioni sulla dimensione spaziale del Better Life Index calcolato da OCSE
AbstractCan Well-being Be Measured? Reflections on the Spatial Dimension of the OECD Better Life IndexIndices developed by international research organizations assume value in the adoption of new policies. This paper aims to present the role that these indices have taken on in order to investigate the methodology adopted and understand the role that the space between the indicators used takes on. Specifically, the Better Life Index that the OECD develops is examined, analyzing and mapping the indicators used. Some critical issues emerge, and in particular the absence of the spatial dimension among the parameters considered. The paper reflects on the relevance of this gap and highlights the importance of the relationship with space in assessing well-being
Polivalenza del ridere: i casi omerici di ἄσβεστος γέλως
ABSTRACTPolyvalence of laughter: Homeric cases of ἄσβεστος γέλως The present article intends to analyze the three different Homeric cases of ἄσβεστος γέλως (Il. I 599; Od. VIII 326; XX 346). By considering both linguistic elements which are referred to the noun γέλως and some narratological aspects in relation to which the lines being discussed could be considered, the purpose of this article is to give a specific interpretation of the different scenes. More specifically: in the first part, I will discuss the possibility that the Homeric laughter is related, from a semantic and linguistic point of view, to the idea of a physical movement; in the second part, I intend to show that the massive use of γέλως displayed by the gods who make fun of Hephaistos could be interpreted as a sort of psychological displacement; in the last part of the article, I show a vital trait of the Homeric unquenchable laughter, namely the fact that each and every detail referred to it leads to think that this kind of laughter is an exclusive prerogative of the Olympians: whenever it involves human beings, it brings nothing but madness and death
Addressing Young Girls in STEM: Building Inclusion through Dialogicity. The Case of GoldieBlox
AbstractThe number of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is still limited compared to men, and one of the reasons for this is the lack of women’s sense of inclusion and belonging within engineering contexts. It has been argued that such a sense of inclusion and belonging might be developed by exposing girls to STEM with specific activities, games, and toys from a young age. This case study explores how the US toy manufacturer GoldieBlox Inc. addresses and includes young children, specifically girls, in the promotion of their products. GoldieBlox is a company that specifically targets girls to encourage their interest in STEM subjects, namely science, technology, and mathematics. Through a close reading and a qualitative analysis of the company’s webpages, this paper explores the links between consumerism, gender, belonging, and promotional language. Under the linguistic lens of dialogicity, I analyse how girls are addressed and included in STEM through the promotion of specific products
Produzione e consumo di carne nella legislazione imperiale e ruolo del corpus suariorum
AbstractStarting with an analysis of the value that the meat market, especially pork, had in ancient Rome, the importance of the problem of its general supply and distribution is examined, with particular emphasis on the political and social role of the viscerationes, which became a public practice and a criterion of government within the annonary system. In particular, the titles De suariis, pecuariis et susceptoribus vini ceterisque corporatis of the Theodosian Code (C.Th. 14.4) and De suariis et susceptoribus vini et ceteris corporatis of the Justinian Code (C.I. 11.17) allow us to detect the commitment required of the corpus suariorum by the political bodies in relation to the payment of the canon suarius
