Quid des marchés de l’eau dans le Ferlo sénégalais? Cas des communes de Barkedji et Dodji

AbstractWhat about Water Markets in Senegal’s Ferlo Region? The Case of the Communes of Barkedji and DodjiNumerous reforms, in a context of incomplete decentralisation, have succeeded in introducing the rule of selling water to users. From colonial times to the present day, efforts have been made in the rural water sub-sector in the Ferlo. This paper explores a new aspect of access to services in rural areas, namely the disparity between water markets for different boreholes. We hypothesise that user pricing of water is more reasonable than a single imposed tariff. The article is based on several research studies carried out in Senegal and abroad, and on the results of surveys conducted in 2023 in two communes, Barkédji and Dodji. In short, this article provides a spatial analysis of water trading infrastructures, uses and the interplay of players in the water market

Transports publics et urbanisme au Grand Rabat: en quête d’une gestion équilibrée entre urbanisation et mobilité

AbstractPublic Transport and Urban Planning in Greater Rabat: In Search of a Balanced Management between Urbanization and MobilityPublic transport worldwide faces major challenges such as congestion, delays, high costs, and safety concerns, further complicated by the need for sustainable and efficient mobility management. In Rabat, rapid demographic and economic growth exacerbates urban mobility issues, including traffic congestion, disparities between central and peripheral areas, and inadequate infrastructure in new residential zones. The lack of efficient public transport, especially outside peak hours, limits accessibility, increases costs, and heightens insecurity. Governance shortcomings – such as institutional fragmentation and weak reforms – hinder sustainable solutions. This article examines transport governance in Greater Rabat, analyzing reforms, public initiatives, and coordination mechanisms to identify pathways for a more effective and inclusive mobility system

    L’onomastique à l’épreuve de l’analyse du discours

AbstractOnomastics through the Lens of Discourse AnalysisIn this study, we will attempt to show that the Proper Name category, linguistically marginalized in linguistic studies in general and discourse analysis studies in particular, can constitute a fruitful interpretative key of the utterance in context. Indeed, contrary to its alleged ‘semantic opacity’, its presence triggers enunciative effects, provokes a compulsive search for meaning uncovered by various interpretants (in the sense of Rastier 1996), or can even lead to playful deconstructions of meaning. Whether in literary texts or in ‘ordinary’ texts (for example, brand names), this linguistic unit constitutes a prism through which unsuspected meanings are refracted

Minicio Fundano: una personalità da riscoprire

ABSTRACTMinicius Fundanus: a personality to rediscoverThe paper aims to examine the career of an imperial official who lived between the 1st and 2nd centuries CE: Minicius Fundanus. He is known for his epistolary exchanges with Pliny the Second and Plutarch, but he might have also written literary and philosophical works (Plin. Ep. VII 12). Fundanus was also the addressee of Hadrian’s well-known rescript concerning the governmental attitude to be taken toward Christians (Justin. I Apol. 68). Many scholars have analyzed Hadrian’s provisions concerning Christianity; however, Fundanus’ reaction to the rescript has never been sufficiently examined. This prosopographical study of his network of acquaintances and philological analysis of the works describing him could help further delineate the politicoreligious situation in the Near East in the first two imperial centuries

EVIDENCE-BASED EDUCATION. ADVANCES AND POTENTIALS FOR EDUCATIONAL PRACTICE AND RESEARCHAbstractThis work aims to critically examine the contributions of evidence-based education (EBE), a topic that has garnered increasing attention in Italy over recent years. The potential of the EBE perspective in Italy is analyzed according to two key criteria: (i) the practical application of the most reliable existing knowledge, guiding training through established models of effective education; (ii) a paradigm shift from predominantly descriptive approaches or those based on action research toward experimental studies. Several quasi-experimental programs that are both sustainable and effective are presented and discussed within a framework focused on continuous improvement.

Improving Vocabulary Skills: What Strategies to Be Applied in Primary School?

AbstractEvidence-based research indicates that intentional vocabulary enhancement programmes are more effective than extemporaneous vocabulary teaching practices, with effect size values exceeding 0.60. However, it remains to determine which programme is most suitable for use, considering its efficacy, sustainability and adaptability to various contexts. In this study, we developed and tested a lexical enhancement programme that integrates students’ weekly activity of independently collecting new terms with reflection activities on terms extracted from short texts during class lessons. The experiment conducted with a large sample of fourth and fifth primary school classes shows that the experimental group (EG) achieves a significantly greater improvement than the control group (CG), not only on the target words addressed in the texts but also in general lexical knowledge and, to some extent, in synthesis skills. The significance of such programmes is emphasised, as they can now be easily implemented and adapted to different contexts, aided by AI

Formative Assessment Practices for Improving Students’ Text Comprehension Abilities: An Experiment in a Lower Secondary School in Italy

AbstractFormative assessment (FA) is an expression that covers several practices. While this variety has led to the development of different studies in the international context, there is a lack of experimental research in Italy on the topic. Therefore, this experiment explores the effects of implementing FA practices in the classroom, in terms of students’ text comprehension abilities. A two-group experimental design was carried out involving students from two first-year classes of a lower secondary school in Italy, who were randomly assigned to the treatment or control group. After administering a task on text comprehension abilities, the researcher developed 15 FA activities in the treatment group. At the end of the study, the students’ abilities were measured again and the pre- post-test difference between the two groups was verified. Non-parametric tests were run that did not reveal statistically significant differences. Regardless, a trend shows a slightly higher increase in the achievement of the treatment group

Défis et menaces de la patrimonialisation de l’espace maritime gabonais: cas des Aires Marines Protégées

AbstractChallenges and Threats to the Patrimonialization of Gabon’s Maritime Space: The Case of Marine Protected AreasThis article looks at the protection of Gabon’s marine ecosystem through the creation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Despite their uniqueness, MPAs are currently facing a lack of full support from local communities, who are critical of policies that are essentially focused on conservation. The article highlights the challenges and threats posed by the development of maritime heritage, given the government’s stated ambition to secure the sites identified for protection. The development of this work required a methodological approach based on the consultation of available documentary resources and the collection of field data from observations and exchanges with twenty-five stakeholders. The initial results show that the creation of MPAs reflects a clear political will to secure and appropriate the maritime domain. However, the heritage approach, which since then has been limited to conservation aspects, must now go beyond this framework and extend to the construction of a cultural identity based on attachment to marine heritage

L’INTEGRAZIONE DELL’INTELLIGENZA ARTIFICIALE NEL DESIGN DELLA COMUNICAZIONE. CASI DI STUDIO DEL POLITECNICO DI MILANO: DALLA CULTURA DIGITALE ALLA SOCIOLOGIA DEI MEDIAAbstractThe advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI (GenAI), has catalyzed a transformative shift in educational methodologies, bridging traditional pedagogy with advanced digital technologies. This article presents a comparative analysis of two case studies conducted within the Communication Design Program at Polytechnic of Milan, exploring the integration of GenAI as a collaborative tool in Digital Culture and Sociology of Media courses. By examining the implications, challenges, and outcomes of embedding GenAI within these educational frameworks, we aim to highlight the role of AI as a «co-pilot» in learning processes, offering innovative approaches to knowledge creation and problem-solving. The case studies underscore common themes, such as the democratization of creative tools through AI, the necessity for critical AI literacy, and the exploration of AI as a facilitator of innovative content generation. Simultaneously, the article delves into the differences between the two courses, including participant numbers, course structures, and project aspects, providing a comprehensive understanding of GenAI’s impact on educational experiences and students’ problem-solving skills
