Geographical Disparities Across Editorial Boards in Lithuanian Scientific Journals: A Cross-Disciplinary Analysis
No full textEditorial boards of academic journals represent a key institutional mechanism in the governance and functioning of the academic community. Members of these boards play a critical role in knowledge production and the advancement of their respective disciplines. Their roles encompass critical tasks in scientific publishing process, such as peer review management, manuscript selection, and setting editorial policies, which collectively shape the academic discourse and research priorities.
Geographical disparities on the editorial boards of scientific journals have garnered growing attention and concern in the field of scientific publishing in recent years. Research conducted across various countries has highlighted significant imbalances in regional and geographical representation within academic publishing. Notably, there is a marked under-representation of scholars from the Global South and low-income countries on editorial boards, underscoring critical issues of equity and inclusivity in the governance and dissemination of scientific knowledge.
Paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the geographical composition of editorial boards in Lithuanian scientific journals. The study involved a thorough review of publicly available information from all scientific journals published in Lithuania, with the aim of determining the geographical affiliations of their editorial board members. By systematically collecting and analyzing data on the countries of origin of these members, the study sought to uncover patterns of geographical representation across different scientific disciplines. The findings reveal significant disparities in the proportions of editorial board members from various countries, with notable variations observed across different fields of science. These results underscore the presence of regional imbalances in editorial board composition, which may have implications for the internationalization of Lithuanian scientific publishing and the broader representation of diverse scientific perspectives

Distinguishing the players of the digital field: A multiple correspondence analysis of the socialisation practice within Swedish gaming
No full textThis article explores the field of contemporary gaming practices and preferences among players of various social backgrounds. From a Bourdieusian perspective based on the notion of different capital forms (economic, social, and cultural), the socialisation process of Swedish players of digital games (n=1019) is investigated through a multiple correspondence analysis on questionnaire data. The findings show that the contemporary Swedish gaming culture is clearly divided by gender and age, but not as visibly by social class, birthplace, or upbringing. The article concludes that the contemporary gaming culture restricts present dispositions and future trajectories among the agents of the gaming field.

No full textDet nordnorska landskapet var länge föremål för omfattande mytbildning och fascination, vilket tog sig uttryck i mer eller mindre fantasifyllda skildringar i både text och bild. På de första tryckta kartorna över Skandinavien är Nordnorge över huvud taget inte igenkännbart. På ett tidigt stadium blev dock Vardøhus, följt av Finnmark, givna företeelser på kartor över de nordligaste områdena och de blev snabbt omistliga informationspunkter för tidens kartografer. Vardøhus och Finnmark kom i mångt och mycket att definiera de tidiga avbildningarna av landsdelen.

No full textBackground: Children are among the largest patient groups assessed in the public emergency ward. Early recognition of deterioration in health status is more complex in children than in adults. There is limited research on the use of Pediatric Early Warning Scores (Pevs) in the public emergency ward. Purpose: To assess nurses\u27 experiences with the use of Pevs in public emergency ward. Results: The results indicate that Pevs is a useful tool in assessing sick children in emergency care. Pevs contributes to systematic assessment, standardization, continuity, and early identification of deterioration in children. Pevs can complement clinical observations and assessments, but nurses must also use clinical judgment and knowledge to capture changes not reflected in Pevs scores. The results also show that the majority of nurses desire more training, and that physicians should be included in the training. Conclusion: Pevs is a valuable tool, and there is a need for more training in its use to ensure effective collaboration and enhance patient safety.Bakgrunn: Barn er blant de største pasientgruppene som vurderes på legevakt. Tidlig gjenkjenning av forverring i helsetilstand er mer komplisert hos barn enn hos voksne. Det foreligger lite forskning om bruk av kartleggingsverktøyet Pediatrisk tidlig varslingsskår (Pevs) på legevakt. Hensikt: Å kartlegge sykepleieres bruk av Pevs på legevakt. Resultater: Resultatene viser at Pevs er et nyttig verktøy i vurdering av syke barn på legevakt. Pevs bidrar til systematikk, standardisering, kontinuitet og tidlig identifisering av forverring hos barn. Pevs kan understøtte kliniske observasjoner og vurderinger, men sykepleierne må også bruke klinisk skjønn og ha kunnskap for å klare å fange opp endringer som ikke reflekteres i Pevs skår. Resultatene viser også at flertallet av sykepleierne ønsker mer opplæring, og at legene bør inkluderes i opplæringen. Konklusjon: Pevs er et nyttig verktøy og det er behov for mer opplæring i bruk av verktøyet for å sikre god samhandling og øke pasientsikkerheten
