Belo Horizonte:: Religião, Morte e Gentrificação no Projeto Modernizador em uma Nova Capital Republicana
No full textDesigning cities intended for human settlement as an extension of the population of the mother country was not part of the Portuguese colonization in America. Planned cities in Brazil began to emerge in the late 19th century with the advent of the Republic. This paper examines one of the major examples of planned cities from this period: the city of Belo Horizonte, designed to be the capital of Minas Gerais, one of the states of the Brazilian federalism. The founding process of this new urban center reveals the ever-present characteristic of authoritarianism and environmental racism in the republic. The paper addresses the themes of religion and the care of the dead, highlighting the tyranny of an elite influenced by the Enlightenment era and the positivist ideals of rational progress. This elite acted against the local population, which was expelled to the outskirts and perceived as embodying the backwardness that modernization sought to overcome. The research was conducted using archival sources and specialized literature, linking the construction of Belo Horizonte to processes of gentrification and racism that culminated in the topocide of Curral del Rey.A colonização portuguesa na América não se marcou por projetar cidades com vistas à ocupação humana de modos a ser a extensão populacional do país sede. As cidades planejadas no Brasil surgem a partir de fins do século XIX com o advento da República. Este artigo estuda um dos grandes exemplos de cidades planejadas a partir desse período. Trata-se da cidade de Belo Horizonte, planejada para ser capital de Minas Gerais que é um dos estados do federalismo brasileiro. O processo de fundação da nova urbe revela-nos o caráter autoritário e o racismo ambiental desta república, uma de suas principais características desde sua fundação até o momento atual. O texto apresenta o tema da religião e do cuidado com os mortos. Demonstra-se o autoritarismo de uma elite influenciada pela ideia do progresso da razão de matriz iluminista e positivista contra a população local, expulsa para os arrabaldes, entendida como representante do atraso que se queria superar. A pesquisa foi feita em arquivos e por meio de bibliografia especializada, relacionando a construção de Belo Horizonte aos processos de gentrificação e racismo que culminaram no topocídio de Curral del Rey
Análise do Potencial Cognitivo e Pedagógico de Modelos de Linguagem: Uma Avaliação sobre IA Generativa no Processo de Ensino-Aprendizagem
No full textOs Large Language Models (LLMs) têm ampliado a aplicação da educação mediada por Inteligência Artificial (IA), especialmente em tarefas que envolvem interpretação e raciocínio. Este trabalho analisa o potencial pedagógico e cognitivo de atividades interdisciplinares dos modelos Claude Sonnet 4.5, DeepSeek-V3, Gemma 2 9B-IT, GPT-5 e Llama 4 Scout, a partir da geração de respostas a questões extraídas do Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM). A avaliação foi desenvolvida por meio de uma metodologia que contempla a verificação de contaminação de dados, a padronização das interações e a análise de desempenho com base em métricas sintáticas e semânticas. Os resultados indicam habilidades significativas em interpretação textual, porém evidenciam limitações em abstração matemática e em inferência lógica. O estudo propõe, assim, uma abordagem avaliativa aliada à reflexão crítica sobre a assistência de IA no processo educacional.
 
Analítica da Aprendizagem em Jogos Educacionais: Um Mapeamento Sistemático da Literatura
No full textEste artigo apresenta um mapeamento sistemático da literatura sobre a aplicação da Analítica da Aprendizagem (Learning Analytics – LA) e da Mineração de Dados Educacionais (Educational Data Mining – EDM) em jogos educacionais. A busca foi realizada nas bases ACM, IEEE Xplore, Scopus, Springer Link, RENOTE e SBC Open Lib, abrangendo publicações entre 2019 e 2024. Dos 170 estudos encontrados, 11 atenderam aos critérios de inclusão e foram analisados em profundidade. As pesquisas concentram-se em duas vertentes: (1) modelagem preditiva e diagnóstica, voltada à previsão de desempenho e à identificação de dificuldades; e (2) análise comportamental e contextual, relacionada às interações e à motivação dos jogadores. As técnicas mais frequentes incluem SVM, Random Forest, k-means, IRT, BKT e NLP. Observou-se escassez de estudos sobre inclusão e acessibilidade, indicando a necessidade de novas investigações que integrem práticas inclusivas e analíticas em jogos educacionais
O Uso de Jogos Sérios para o Ensino de Higiene Cibernética: Uma Revisão Sistemática
No full textO aumento dos riscos à segurança da informação reforça a necessidade de conscientização sobre a higiene cibernética, compreendida como práticas de proteção de informações em ambientes conectados. Nesse cenário, jogos sérios (JSs) são utilizados como abordagem educativa, embora ainda haja lacunas nas práticas abordadas. Este artigo apresenta resultados de uma revisão sistemática sobre JSs voltados à higiene cibernética. Os resultados indicam o predomínio de técnicas persuasivas, como simulação, competição e recompensas, e ênfase na identificação de ameaças, enquanto práticas como patches e backups são pouco exploradas. Conclui-se que, apesar do potencial educativo dos JSs, são necessários maior diversidade de públicos-alvo, padronização de métodos de avaliação e inclusão de práticas negligenciadas
Gamificação no Ensino de Programação Paralela em Cursos de Computação: um Mapeamento Sistemático da Literatura
No full textA Programação Paralela é um conteúdo essencial na formação em Computação, porém apresenta elevada complexidade cognitiva e desafios pedagógicos. Nesse contexto, a gamificação tem sido investigada como estratégia para aumentar o engajamento e apoiar a aprendizagem ativa. Este artigo apresenta um Mapeamento Sistemático da Literatura sobre o uso da gamificação no ensino de Programação Paralela, considerando estudos publicados entre 2013 e 2025. O protocolo metodológico seguiu diretrizes consolidadas para mapeamentos sistemáticos, com buscas realizadas em seis bases científicas e aplicação de critérios de inclusão e exclusão bem definidos. Ao final do processo de seleção, quatro estudos primários foram analisados. Os resultados indicam impactos positivos da gamificação sobre a motivação, o desempenho e a persistência dos estudantes, sobretudo por meio de estratégias competitivas e colaborativas no ensino superior. Entretanto, observa-se escassez de experimentos controlados e de análises longitudinais. Conclui-se que a gamificação apresenta potencial pedagógico relevante no ensino de Programação Paralela, ao mesmo tempo em que demanda investigações empíricas mais robustas
Hepatic Cirrhosis in Nymphicus hollandicus (Cockatiel)
No full textBackground: The order Psittaciformes comprises over 350 bird species, including cockatiels (Nymphicus hollandicus), whose beauty and docility make them popular pets. Despite the availability of commercial feeds designed to meet their nutritional needs, many owners provide high-energy seed-based diets, which unfortunately cause metabolic disorders such as hepatic steatosis and cirrhosis. These conditions result from chronic hepatocyte injury and fibrosis, but documented cases of these problems in avian species are limited. This paper reports a case of hepatic cirrhosis in Nymphicus hollandicus.
Case: An 11-year-old female cockatiel was subjected to necropsy after being found dead. The owner reported a month-long history of lethargy, progressing to yellowish feces, regurgitation, and dyspnea. The diet consisted primarily of commercial seed mix, rice, and occasional bread and biscuits. Water was chlorinated and unfiltered, and vitamin supplementation was sporadic. The bird lived with three other cockatiels in a cage exposed to natural light during the day and housed indoors at night. No previous health issues were noted. Gross examination revealed no external abnormalities apart from chronic hyperkeratosis on one digit. Internally, ascites was evident, with a firm, multinodular, pale yellow liver exhibiting structural loss. The lungs showed diffuse congestion and edema, but other organs showed no significant changes. Histopathology confirmed hepatic cirrhosis, with fibrous connective tissue surrounding hyperplastic hepatocyte nodules, bile duct proliferation, lymphoplasmacytic infiltration, and hepatocellular fatty degeneration. The lungs showed severe vascular congestion, while the heart exhibited no relevant alterations.
Discussion: Cirrhosis, which is rarely reported in birds, typically arises from chronic inflammation and poor dietary management. Unlike mammals, avian species lack an extensive lymphatic system, making their livers more susceptible to lipid accumulation from high-fat diets. Seed-based diets, deficient in proteins, vitamins, and minerals, exacerbate triglyceride buildup in hepatocytes, leading to hepatic steatosis and eventually, cirrhosis. Similar cases in Amazona aestiva and Psittacus erithacus reinforce the association between poor diet and liver pathology. The bird’s dyspnea was likely due to ascites-related respiratory distress, a common sequela of hepatic failure in birds, attributed to portal hypertension and decreased colloid osmotic pressure from hypoproteinemia. The presence of biliverdin-stained feces further supported hepatobiliary dysfunction. Diagnosis of hepatic diseases in birds is challenging because enzyme alterations are often nonspecific. While radiography, endoscopy, and biopsy aid in diagnosis, they are mostly available in specialized centers. Management of avian hepatic cirrhosis focuses on diet correction and hepatoprotective therapies, including plant extracts and probiotics, which show promise in modulating the progression of liver disease. Despite advances in avian nutrition, many pet cockatiels continue to receive imbalanced diets due to owner misinformation and the affordability of seeds. Nutritional mismanagement remains a primary factor in psittacine metabolic disorders, necessitating increased awareness and dietary adjustments to prevent conditions like steatosis and cirrhosis. This case underscores the consequences of inadequate nutrition, ultimately leading to fatal hepatic cirrhosis in Nymphicus hollandicus.

Effectiveness of Polyaxial Clamp-Rod Internal Fixation Method in Distal Femoral Fractures: Experimental Study in a Sheep Model
No full textBackground: Distal femoral fractures remain a challenging orthopedic condition due to complex regional anatomy and limited availability of suitable implant options for stable fixation. Optimal stabilization must adhere to biological osteosynthesis principles while maintaining rigid mechanical support - particularly in periarticular fractures. The clamp-rod internal fixation (CRIF) system has previously demonstrated satisfactory clinical outcomes; however, the use of conventional cortical screws may predispose to screw loosening and compromised stability. The modified CRIF (M-CRIF) system, redesigned to incorporate polyaxial locking functionality, has the potential to enhance implant stability and improve healing quality. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and clinical performance of the M-CRIF implant compared with the conventional CRIF system in an experimental sheep fracture model.
Materials, Methods & Results: Twelve clinically healthy adult Akkaraman crossbred sheep were randomly assigned to 2 equal groups: Group I (n = 6) treated with standard CRIF and Group II (n = 6) treated with M-CRIF. A standardized supracondylar femoral fracture was created in all subjects, followed by internal fixation according to group allocation. Postoperative monitoring included serial clinical examinations, pain assessment using facial expression and clinical scoring systems, gait and weight-bearing evaluations, vertical force plate analyses, and radiographic examinations on days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28, 45, and 60. On day 60, harvested femurs underwent histopathological assessment of fracture healing characteristics. Intraoperative reduction was achieved in all cases; however, clamp advancement over the bent rod portion was technically more demanding in Group I. Pain scores improved over time in both groups, but Group II showed faster reduction in discomfort, with significant differences observed between early and late time points (P < 0.05). Functional assessments revealed significantly superior gait and weight-bearing in Group II on days 28 and 45 (P < 0.05). Pressure mat data supported these findings, demonstrating higher peak vertical force values in Group II at the same time points (P < 0.05). Radiographic evaluations indicated progressive healing in both groups without significant intergroup differences; however, Group II displayed a more uniform and advanced callus formation pattern. Implant-related complications were limited to 1 case of cortical screw loosening in Group I and one postoperative soft-tissue infection in Group II, the latter resolving without affecting final healing. Histopathological findings revealed nearly complete replacement of cartilage templates by bone, abundant osteoblastic activity, and organized trabecular architecture in both groups, with slightly enhanced tissue remodeling in Group II.
Discussion: The results indicate that incorporation of polyaxial locking screws into the clamp mechanism provides improved construct stability, encourages earlier weight-bearing, and contributes to more consistent functional recovery. Although radiographic outcomes alone were insufficient to discriminate between groups, multidimensional assessment methods - including force plate analysis and clinical scoring - clearly demonstrated the mechanical advantages of the M-CRIF system during the early healing phase. The reduced risk of screw-related complications further supports the superiority of this design in anatomically restricted distal femoral fractures. Considering current trends favoring systems that preserve local vascularity while providing rigid fixation, M-CRIF appears to satisfy both biological and biomechanical requirements more effectively than conventional CRIF.

A POESIA SOCIAL DE CARLOS DRUMMOND DE ANDRADE
No full textThis essay analyzes the social poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, published between 1940 and 1945, specifically in the works Sentimento do mundo (1940), José (1942), and A rosa do povo (1945). Among the objectives, the focus is on observing the aesthetic effectiveness of Drummond's engaged poetry, while also understanding the political utopias constructed during those turbulent years of wars, authoritarian governments, and extremist ideologies. Eighty years after the publication of A rosa do povo, this study seeks to highlight the relevance and permanence of Drummond's poetics, not only in capturing a perspective on that era but also in revealing the importance of this discussion in today's world, once again marked by conflicts, authoritarian attempts, and intolerance. To better understand this phase of his work, it was necessary to revisit the relationship between lyricism and society. Thus, a bibliographic research was conducted based on works acclaimed by literary criticism, especially: Adorno (1975), Candido (1977), and Eliot (1991).Este ensaio analisa a poesia social de Carlos Drummond de Andrade, publicada no período entre 1940 e 1945, precisamente nas obras Sentimento do mundo (1940), José (1942) e A rosa do povo (1945). Dentre os objetivos, destaca-se observar a eficácia estética da poética engajada de Drummond, compreendendo também as utopias políticas construídas naqueles conturbados anos de guerras, governos autoritários e ideologias extremistas. Passados oitenta anos da publicação de A rosa do povo, este estudo busca destacar a relevância e a permanência da poética de Drummond não só no sentido de flagrar um olhar sobre aquela época como também revelar a importância dessa discussão na atualidade, mais uma vez marcada por conflitos, tentativas autoritárias e intolerância. Para melhor compreender essa fase de sua obra, foi necessário revisitar a relação entre lírica e sociedade. Desse modo, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica em obras consagradas pela crítica literária, especialmente: Adorno (1975), Candido (1977) e Eliot (1991)

No full textABSTRACT: Revisiting Erico Verissimo's novels on the 120th anniversary of his birth, this essay discusses the relevance of his texts today from a semiological perspective, according to the theories of Mukarovsky and Vodicka. The main topics deal with the public's interest in how much minorities are represented, the author's engagement on an ideological level, as well as the function of cultural apparatuses in the consecration of works and the risks of unstable reader attention in these uncertain times.
