A POESIA SOCIAL DE CARLOS DRUMMOND DE ANDRADE
No full textThis essay analyzes the social poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, published between 1940 and 1945, specifically in the works Sentimento do mundo (1940), José (1942), and A rosa do povo (1945). Among the objectives, the focus is on observing the aesthetic effectiveness of Drummond's engaged poetry, while also understanding the political utopias constructed during those turbulent years of wars, authoritarian governments, and extremist ideologies. Eighty years after the publication of A rosa do povo, this study seeks to highlight the relevance and permanence of Drummond's poetics, not only in capturing a perspective on that era but also in revealing the importance of this discussion in today's world, once again marked by conflicts, authoritarian attempts, and intolerance. To better understand this phase of his work, it was necessary to revisit the relationship between lyricism and society. Thus, a bibliographic research was conducted based on works acclaimed by literary criticism, especially: Adorno (1975), Candido (1977), and Eliot (1991).Este ensaio analisa a poesia social de Carlos Drummond de Andrade, publicada no período entre 1940 e 1945, precisamente nas obras Sentimento do mundo (1940), José (1942) e A rosa do povo (1945). Dentre os objetivos, destaca-se observar a eficácia estética da poética engajada de Drummond, compreendendo também as utopias políticas construídas naqueles conturbados anos de guerras, governos autoritários e ideologias extremistas. Passados oitenta anos da publicação de A rosa do povo, este estudo busca destacar a relevância e a permanência da poética de Drummond não só no sentido de flagrar um olhar sobre aquela época como também revelar a importância dessa discussão na atualidade, mais uma vez marcada por conflitos, tentativas autoritárias e intolerância. Para melhor compreender essa fase de sua obra, foi necessário revisitar a relação entre lírica e sociedade. Desse modo, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica em obras consagradas pela crítica literária, especialmente: Adorno (1975), Candido (1977) e Eliot (1991)
O INCIDENTE E O DIREITO A TER DIREITOS: OU SOBRE OS FANTASMAS QUE RONDAM A VIDA
No full textABSTRACT: In this essay, through an Arendtian approach, the investigation takes Erico Verissimo's novel itself as an "incident" that questions us about the right to have rights, revealing the degree of naturalization with which a social group accepts the denial of fundamental human rights and coexists with the deprivation of rights for some, as a tacit fact. Contemporary to the social machinery of the many antares around the world, the "incident" points to the opposite; it functions as a link and rupture of reality with which Verissimo orchestrates an emblematic ending: the living lose to rubber; while the dead, perhaps, by their condition of being past, win.

RESUMO: Neste ensaio, por meio de uma abordagem arendtiana, a investigação toma o romance de Erico Verissimo em si como um “incidente” que nos interroga sobre o direito a ter direitos, desvelando o grau de naturalização com que um grupo social aceita a negação aos direitos fundamentais humanos e convive com a privação dos direitos de alguns, como um dado tácito. Contemporâneo à engrenagem social das antares pelo mundo, o “incidente” aponta para o avesso; funciona como elo e ruptura da realidade com o qual Verissimo orquestra um final emblemático: os vivos perdem para a borracha; já os mortos, talvez, por sua condição de pretérito, vencem.

No full textABSTRACT: Revisiting Erico Verissimo's novels on the 120th anniversary of his birth, this essay discusses the relevance of his texts today from a semiological perspective, according to the theories of Mukarovsky and Vodicka. The main topics deal with the public's interest in how much minorities are represented, the author's engagement on an ideological level, as well as the function of cultural apparatuses in the consecration of works and the risks of unstable reader attention in these uncertain times.

São tópicos principais o interesse do público sobre o quanto as minorias são representadas, sobre o engajamento do autor no plano ideológico, bem como a função dos aparelhos culturais na consagração das obras e os riscos da atenção instável dos leitores nos tempos de incerteza de agora.

No full textABSTRACT: The purpose of this paper is to closely examine the poetry of Maria Júlia Cortines Laxe, or simply Júlia Cortines (Rio Bonito, December 12, 1868 — Rio de Janeiro, 1948) as an instance in which language and consciousness develop into poetry. I argue that this development overlaps and at times identifies with the development of the mind into philosophy, but turns away from it at key points, becoming distinctively poetic. Most of the very few serious commentators of Cortines’s work have acknowledged the proximity of her poetry to philosophical thought, but have failed to demonstrate of what this proximity consists and what its unique shape is. What kind of philosophical thought Cortines’s poetry comes closest to and why is her language particularly poetic is what I intend to disclose throughout this reading.

RESUMO: O propósito deste ensaio é examinar de perto a poesia de Maria Júlia Cortines Laxe, ou simplesmente Júlia Cortines (Rio Bonito, 12 de dezembro de 1868 — Rio de Janeiro, 1948) enquanto instância em que uma linguagem e consciência se desenvolvem na forma de poesia. Meu argumento é que esse desenvolvimento coincide com o desenvolvimento filosófico da mente, mas afasta-se dele em pontos chave, tornando-se distintamente poético. A maioria dos poucos comentadores da obra de Cortines já reconheceu a proximidade de sua poesia ao pensamento filosófico, mas não logrou demonstrar no que ela consiste e qual seu formato único. De que tipo de pensamento filosófico a poesia de Cortines se aproxima e por que sua linguagem é particularmente poética é o que pretendo revelar ao longo desta leitura.
