    No full text

Noninterference Analysis of Reversible Systems: An Approach Based on Branching Bisimilarity

    No full text
The theory of noninterference supports the analysis of information leakage and the execution of secure computations in multi-level security systems. Classical equivalence-based approaches to noninterference mainly rely on weak bisimulation semantics. We show that this approach is not sufficient to identify potential covert channels in the presence of reversible computations. As illustrated via a database management system example, the activation of backward computations may trigger information flows that are not observable when proceeding in the standard forward direction. To capture the effects of back-and-forth computations, it is necessary to switch to a more expressive semantics, which has been proven to be branching bisimilarity in a previous work by De Nicola, Montanari, and Vaandrager. In this paper we investigate a taxonomy of noninterference properties based on branching bisimilarity along with their preservation and compositionality features, then we compare it with the taxonomy of Focardi and Gorrieri based on weak bisimilarity

Metrica greca oggi. Prospettive di ricerca

    No full text

Prospective study of programmed death 1 (PD-1) single-nucleotide polymorphisms in patients with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma treated with Pembrolizumab

    No full text
Background Pembrolizumab (P) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting PD-1 with demonstrated antitumor activity in patients (pts) with metastatic lung adenocarcinoma (MLA). Its efficacy is enhanced in tumors expressing programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1). However, functional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the PD-1 gene may impair the activity of P, potentially leading to suboptimal clinical outcomes. We investigated whether 5 functional PD-1 SNPs (rs11568821 C>T, rs10204525 C>T, rs7421861 A>G, rs2227981 A>G, and rs41386349 A>G) are associated with progression-free survival (PFS) in MLA pts treated with P. Methods Consecutive MLA pts receiving P therapy were prospectively enrolled across five institutions in Central Italy. An accrual target of 120 was established. Assuming a risk allele frequency >10%, the study was powered to detect an association with a PFS hazard ratio (HR) >2.5 after 80 events. Associations between the SNPs and PFS (primary endpoint) were assessed using univariate and multivariate models. An exploratory analysis was also performed to evaluate the relationship between inferred haplotypes and early progression (<6 months). Results Fifty-seven pts were treated with P (PD-L1 expression >50%) and 63 pts with P plus chemotherapy (PD-L1 expression <50%). There were 83 males and 37 females, with an overall median age of 68. KRAS mutations occurred in 34 pts (28%). Median PFS in carriers of the rs7421861 A/A, A/G and G/G genotypes was 26.8 months, 19.5 months and 6,3 months, respectively (univariate p= 0.001). Median PFS in carriers of the rs2227981 A/A, A/G, and G/G genotypes was 34 months, 20 months, and 19,5 months, respectively (univariate p=0.04). The rs7421861-rs2227981 G-G haplotype was significantly associated with early progression with a 2.51 HR and 95% confidence interval (CI 1.16-5.43; p=0.01). The detrimental effect of the homozygous rs7421861 G/G genotype on PFS was retained in the multivariate model with a 2.71 HR and 1.14-6.45 95% CI; p=0.02. Conclusions The rs7421861 SNP, in its minor homozygous genotype, was associated with poorer PFS in MLA pts treated with P. This findingsuggests a potential host-related factor contributing to resistance to anti-PD-1 therapy and warrants further investigation

I miei giorni con Velazquez. Ancora una volta davanti a "Las Meninas". Per un saggio di iconologia politica

    No full text

    Filottete nell'iperspazio

The myth of Philoctetes, immortalized in Sophocles’ tragedy, is revived in an in-triguing science fiction noir by Robert Silverberg, where every variation and every change harmonizes perfectly with the themes of the Greek myth. A web of references and rewritings sees Silverberg’s work also dialogue, through Sophocles, with Heiner Müller’s painful tragic theate

Il borgo dei borghi. Autenticità, consumo e mediatizzazione dell’esperienza nei borghi italiani

    No full text
The debate surrounding the hamlets of Italy's inner areas experienced an unexpected surge during the Covid-19 pandemic, partly driven by the desire to escape densely populated and congested urban centers. This contribution focuses on the media imaginary of Italian villages, aiming to identify its distinctive features in relation to the social and cultural phenomena catalyzed by the pandemic. While contemporary research on hamlets and Italian inner areas often focuses on the territorial impact of institutional tourism policies, the media imaginary underpinning these policies remains an underexplored field. These institutional initiatives are intrinsically tied to classification criteria for the authenticity of hamlets. This studyfocuses on an Italian television program that features a competition among the country's most outstanding villages. This specific segment of media production allows for a focused examination of prevailing conceptions of authenticity, treating them as narrative dispositifs that contribute to constructing the value of the experiences offered by Italian hamlets. It highlights several value systems that describe authenticity and provide guidelines for its recognition, thereby legitimizing the worth of certain experiences. Changes observed in the analyzed media artifacts regarding authentication processes, both pre-and post-pandemic, allow the conclusions to reflect on the dominant orientations of contemporary tourism consumption practices in the Italian hamlets

Modelling the Impact of Climate Variables on Agriculture through the F-Transform

    No full text
This paper investigates the bidirectional relationship between climatic variables and agricultural production in the United States, focusing on the reciprocal interactions among precipitation data, temperature data, and annual agricultural output (specifically corn, soybean, and wheat) in the most productive counties of Illinois. The aim is to assess the impact that weather conditions may have on agricultural productivity. The study is performed using quantile and expectile F-transform (and, more generally, Lp-norm-based fuzzy-valued F-transforms) in modeling time series. Graphical examples and pictures accompany the presentation
