Engaging and Resisting the Law During the Covid-19 Pandemic. Young People's Production of Legality through Class and Gender
The study explores the relationship between young people and the law in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on the legal consciousness of those who, due to their social position, experience a potential condition of marginality. The aim is to understand young people's legal consciousness and explore the social mechanisms that allow for different experiences of law and legal norms.
The theoretical framework - based on legal consciousness theory (Ewick, Silbey 1998) - is complemented by the neo-Bourdieusian approach to the production of class and gender (Sayer 2005, 2011, Skeggs 2005) and Douglas’ analysis of cultures of risks (Douglas, Wildavsky 1982).
Such a theoretical approach provides the conceptual tools for analyzing the mechanisms of production of legality within specific social, institutional, and relational contexts through the interplay of socially situated material, cultural resources, and active reflexive practices. The biographical profiles we present to illustrate such processes are extracted from discursive interviews with 70 young people of low family cultural capital levels and migratory backgrounds. They show how, in similar socio-cultural conditions, the institutional contexts in which young people enact their reflexive practices may lead to different experiences of law and state authority. Such results have practical implications as they highlight the critical mediation role of institutional contexts in constructing the experience of legality. Policies aiming at including marginalized young people in schools and other institutional contexts and interventions promoting a positive view of differences should be informed by the awareness of their impact on people’s values, perceptions, and attitudes toward the law and legal institutions
Post-Emplacement Zeolitization in Ignimbrites: Insights from Central Italy Volcanic Rocks
The present study investigates post-emplacement zeolitization processes in two widespread
pyroclastic units from Central Italy: the Cimina Ignimbrite and the Sorano Ignimbrite. A
total of seventy-five samples from ten outcrops were analyzed using optical and environmental
scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, X-ray powder
diffraction, and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. Analytical
results allow the mineral distribution, zeolite composition, textural relationships, and
geochemical features of the zeolite-bearing rocks to be defined. In the Cimina Ignimbrite,
zeolitization affects the glassy portion of the groundmass, where the glass transforms into
a medium- to high-temperature mineral assemblage dominated by clinoptilolite-Ca and
cristobalite. This transformation is restricted to the innermost parts of the deposit. In
contrast, zeolitization in the Sorano Ignimbrite involves the entire glassy fraction of pumice
clasts, with extensive alteration of the glass into medium- to low-temperature zeolites such
as chabazite-K and phillipsite-K. The results reveal a significant correlation between the
chemical composition of the juvenile material and that of the newly formed zeolites in
both types of ignimbrites, particularly in the Sorano Ignimbrite. Zeolitization in Central
Italy ignimbrites likely occurs in a natural autoclave-like setting, where hot fluids remain
trapped in the deposit for a long time
The role of the body in learning and development of the Child
The body and direct experience are the basis for learning of each one; it is necessary to start from them to generate knowledge. The school environment must be a welcoming place, capable of supporting and stimulating, where the teacher has a decisive role, as it has the possibility to involve children by providing creative and motivating notes. The school, even today, does not always reserve space for movement, understood not only as a didactic discipline to be performed during programming hours, but as a habitual practice, constant and repeated, transversal and applicable in everyday life. The literature review, carried out through the analysis of studies on preschool and school children, was used to scientifically verify the benefits and support that the body is able to offer, both for normotypical and disability, Confirming how motor skills, associated with appropriate movement, are to determine improvements in cognitive, physical, social and emotional
The institutionalisation of a new management control system: a focus on situated rationality
Drawing on the literature about management control systems and adopting the new institutional theory, this study aims to investigate how the situated rationality of key actors influences the institutionalization of a new practice, from its adoption to its implementation within a large company. Based on a qualitative approach, this article presents a single case study investigating a multinational manufacturing firm located in Italy. Findings highlight the whole redesignation process of the enterprise performance management system in terms of motivations, activities and benefits underpinning the management accounting change project and the institutionalisation of the new management control system. Furthermore, they demonstrate the key role of three crucial actors – CEO, Co-CEO and CFO – driven by a mix of three different types of situated rationality – roots, experience, educational – that guide their actions and influence the enterprise’s decisions and behaviours, which then lead to a new performance management systems and processes. Implications for research and practice are discussed
Capitolo 2.
The Role of the Venice Commission in Establishing a Clear Legal Framework on Digital Technologies and Democracy
This paper examines how the Venice Commission can enhance legal certainty and democratic coherence in the regulation of digital technologies. Building on the Commission’s 2016 Rule of Law Checklist, it argues that clarity, foreseeability, and consistency are essential to both the rule of law and democracy. It analyses the growing complexity of the EU’s digital regulatory framework – particularly the interplay between the Digital Services Act, the Artificial Intelligence Act, and the Regulation on Political Advertising—and shows how overlapping regimes risk fragmenting legal obligations and undermining democratic legitimacy. The paper concludes that the Venice Commission, through its advisory role and dialogue-based methods, could promote a more coherent and predictable approach to digital governance, guiding both EU and non-EU states in aligning technological innovation with the fundamental values of democracy and the rule of law
PSYCHO-PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS OF HUMAN DESTRUCTIVENESS AND HATE SPEECH (IN THE MEDIA AND SOCIAL MEDIA)
The incitement to hatred – an emotional state of considerable and persistent aversionand hostility towards the world, an almost necessary passion of hatred2 destined toannihilate the Other – is nowadays taking on constantly changing forms. The accentuatedspread of this negative sentiment takes shape especially with the use of the mostadvanced mass communication tools. These media are identifiable, in particular,in the most recent socio-communicative technologies, especially information technology, such as social networks, which are increasingly easy for all generations toaccess and consume
