<i>HPA-3</i> and <i>C807T</i> polymorphisms are associated with laboratory biomarkers of coronary artery disease in Brazilian women
Reports describe the association between platelet activation, adhesion, and aggregation, as well as polymorphisms in genes encoding platelet membrane glycoproteins with a predisposition to coronary artery disease (CAD). This study investigates associations between HPA-1, -3 and C807T polymorphisms and CAD. A cross-sectional study involving 114 women who underwent coronary angiography was performed. The CAD+ group consisted of 63 women while the CAD- group of 51 women. Hematological and biochemical parameters were evaluated by electronic methods. Polymorphisms were investigated by PCR-RFLP and PCR-SSP and participants answered an epidemiological questionnaire and provided anthropometric data. Blood pressure was also measured. Statistical analyses were performed using EpiInfo v. 7.0 software. Results showed that age, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia were associated with CAD. In addition, CAD+ women showed elevated glucose, TG, and VLDL-c levels and reduced HDL-c levels. No significant difference was observed between the allelic and genotypic distributions of the polymorphisms HPA-1, -3, and C807T in CAD+ and CAD- groups. However, CAD+ women carriers of the variant 3b allele had elevated TG and sP-selectin levels while the carriers of the variant 807T allele had reduced CT and LDL-c levels. Hence, our data suggest that the polymorphism HPA-3 increases, indirectly, the risk of CAD development and occurrence while polymorphism C807T reduces this effec.</p
The expression of DLGAP5 associate with progression and prognosis in glioma
Glioma is the most common primary malignant tumor of the central nervous system and is related to poor clinical outcomes. At present, the standard treatment of glioma in clinical practice is to maximally remove the focus on the premise of protecting the neurological function, supplemented by postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, after standard treatment, the prognosis of glioma patients is still not satisfactory. DLGAP5 has been shown to play an important role in the occurrence and progression of various tumors. This study examined the expression of DLGAP5 in glioma samples and its significance in predicting the prognosis of glioma patients. TCGA and CGGA datasets were used to explore the difference in DLGAP5 expression between glioma and normal central nervous system tissues and to investigate the prognostic value of DLGAP5 expression in glioma patients. The cBioPortal online analysis website was used to explore the gene mutations of DLGAP5 expressing in glioma. The String database and GEPIA online analysis website were used to perform Enrichment Analysis to explore the molecular mechanism of DLGAP5.In this study, we observed that DLGAP5 expression was upregulated in glioma tissues compared with normal CNS tissues and was negatively associated with the prognosis of glioma patients. DLGAP5 may affect the occurrence and progression of glioma mainly through gene mutation, gene amplification, and gene depth deletion. At the same time, the molecular inhibition of DLGAP5 may be related to the cell cycle and the p53 pathway. In conclusion, our findings suggested that DLGAP5 may be a therapeutic target and an independent prognostic indicator for glioma.</p
Psychological interventions in behavioral sleep medicine: An overview for clinicians and psychologists
Sleep medicine and psychology has a relatively long story to share. The multidisciplinary nature of sleep medicine requires that different specialists work together to diagnose and treat sleep disorders and improve subspecialty areas. In the last decades, various non-pharmacological therapies have been developed and demonstrated their efficacy. There are many non-pharmacological therapeutic available options for sleep disorders, including cognitive, behavioral, psycho-educational, and psychosocial interventions that could help clinicians to improve the quality of life of adult patients. Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, insomnias, hypersomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, restless leg syndrome and parasomnias can be effectively taken care of, by an integrated approach with the support of sleep medicine psychologists. The paper aims to give a comprehensive view of psychological interventions for adults, in behavioral sleep medicine.</p
Different approaches to the protection and enhancement of underwater archaeological sites: Acquirements and Aspirations
This paper presents aspects of underwater cultural heritage management in Greece, focusing mainly on accessibility to the diving community and the general public. More specifically, it discusses different approaches to the protection and enhancement of Underwater Archaeological Sites, already put into practice over the last years (2018-2021) by the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities, the public service of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports responsible for the management of underwater heritage. Moreover, it analyses the aspirations for the future, as these took shape already at the beginning of 2021. Lately, cultural management has turned into a fast-growing sector with multilevel developmental prospects. In order to tap into the underwater cultural heritage potential, we must always take into consideration the identity and special characteristics of each underwater site as well as the different possibilities of access — physical or virtual — that are rapidly changing because of new technological achievements. All these parameters affect significantly decision making and the undertaking of relevant initiatives. Examples of the pilot implementation of the opening of underwater archaeological/cultural sites to the public will be presented. Through them, preliminary conclusions concerning the efficacy of the selected managerial approaches can be drawn, while at the same time domains where more should be done will be highlighted.</p
Renewable energy consumption and Inclusive Growth: Evidence from 20 African countries
In Africa, the need for energy is growing. When it comes to renewable energy resources in Africa zone, it is unequivocally needed. Many African countries are experiencing development therefore they are shifting to the use of renewable energy. In that view, this study aims to discover the potential impact of renewable energy consumption on inclusive growth in 20 African countries for a period covering 1997 To 2015. To tackle this estimation technique namely Pesaran’s (2007) [1] CD test, Pesaran’s (2015) [2] LM test and Breusch and Pagan’s (1980) [3] LM test, slope homogeneity test, Average Mean Group (AMG), Common Correlated Effects Mean Group (CCEMG) and pairwise granger were employed. Concentration on inclusive growth contributes greatly to the economy size and ensures employment opportunity creation for the society in a different segment, the result of the study indicates that renewable energy consumption significantly impacted inclusive growth in n the selected Africa Countries. Consequently, if countries like Africa prosper in switching to renewable energy, unbelievable gains could be captured in terms of inclusive growth.</p
Comparison of Gleason score of Prostate Cancer at Ultrasound/MRI Fusion Target Biopsy vs. Systematic Transrectal Ultrasound Guided Biopsy with Final Gleason score at Radical Prostatectomy
Purpose: To compare accuracy in predicting final Gleason Grade Group (GGG) of Prostate Cancer (PCa) of US/MRI fusion guided target (fBx) vs. systematic Transrectal Ultrasound-Guided (TRUS) biopsy, using histopathologic analysis at prostatectomy as the gold standard.Materials and methods: After obtaining IRB approval, we retrospectively reviewed records of patients who underwent Radical Prostatectomy (RP) from January 2014 through May 2019 with prior US/MRI fusion guided target or TRUS biopsy. The rates of upgrading (RP GGG > BX GGG), downgrading (RP GGG < BX GGG), and concordance (RP GGG = BX GGG) were compared between the fBx and TRUS groups. Age, PSA, PSA density, and prostate volume were also noted for all patients. Statistical analysis was utilized to assess the data.Results: A total of 348 men with complete clinical data were included in this study. The rate of downgrading and upgrading in the fBx group was less than in the TRUS biopsy group (14% vs. 19.6%, and 13.2% vs. 19.6%, respectively). The concordance rate was higher in the US-MR fBx group (72.9% vs. 60.7%, p < 0.05)) across all GGG. Notably, lower rates of concordance were found for GGG 1 (24.1%) and GGG 4 (3.6%) in the TRUS Bx group. Patients who underwent US-MR fBx had higher average PSA (9.4 vs. 6.5 ng/ml), higher PSA density (0.3 vs. 0.2 ng/ml2), and lower prostate volume (31 vs. 42 cc). Additionally, biopsy results showed a lower rate of GGG 1 (3.1% vs. 13.2%) and a higher rate of GGG 5 (14.7% vs. 5.5%) in the US-MR fBx group. Conclusions: Target biopsy has a higher GGG concordance compared to TRUS biopsy (72.9% vs. 60.7%, p < 0.05). In addition, there was less downgrading or upgrading of final PCa GGG in the fBx groups compared to TRUS Bx (14% vs. 19.6%, 13.2% vs. 19.6%, respectively). This finding may have important implications for treatment decisions. </p
Search for the dispatch schedule optimal configuration for managing releases of the complex “Lake Baikal - Irkutsk Reservoir”
The article considers methods for constructing optimal (in the Pareto sense) coordinates of the dispatch schedules for managing releases for the water management complex “Lake Baikal - Irkutsk Reservoir”. Statistical reliability criteria such as the number and depth of violations are used as optimization criteria. The construction of the optimal dispatch schedule is carried out based on water resource calculations for long-term hydrological inflow series from 1903 to 2016 (the number of the periods per year is 24) and modern hierarchically ordered requirements of water users. Since the water users’ requirements, as a rule, conflict with each other, a multi-criteria analysis of various optimal dispatch schedules were used to find the optimal Trade-off solution. To search for the optimal configuration of the dispatcher, the author’s methods of local optimization were developed, which allow solving a complex non-linear programming task in a reasonable time. Software for water resource calculation and optimization was developed with the VBA language in the Excel environment. </p
An assessment of indigenous knowledge of apitherapy in the Oromia region, Ethiopia
Apitherapy is the use of bee products such as honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, and wax is used to prevent or treat illness and promote healing. The objectives of this study are to assess and document indigenous knowledge on the medicinal values of bee products in Ethiopia and generate baseline information on indigenous practices of the medicinal value of beehive products for further study. This study was conducted in beekeeping potential areas of Oromia Regional state by selecting seven zones and from each zone two districts and a total of 14 districts (Woreda) based on their potential for beekeeping, the existence of long-aged bee-keepers and accessibility. using a purposive sampling method and questionnaires were distributed to the elders and well-known traditional healers of the study areas. In answering the questionnaires 22-100 ages dwellers or respondents participated. The survey was conducted in 7 zones namely Jimma, Ilu ababora, West wollega, East wollega, East Shoa, West shoa, and Buno Bedele. Simple descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data obtained by collected questionnaires. The result of the study showed that 49.3% of Apis mellifera honey and 31.9% of stingless bee honey, majorly used bee products for apitherapy, and 70.3 % of the bee products used using traditional collection method. According to this study’s results, the traditional drug was prepared from honey in liquid form which comprises the biggest portion mark of 63.4% of respondents. The majority of the respondents strongly agree with bee products as a treatment for different diseases such as asthma, cough, common cold, TB, and wounds. A major challenge faced during using of bee products as medicine is the absence of awareness of apitherapy as it was reported by 28.8%. of the respondents. Thus, it can be concluded that bee products are well-known apitherapy in the Oromia region and it was recommended that awareness creation of bee products as apitherapy and further research on the medicinal value of beehive products for confirmation as medicine for different diseases since it may be a solution for various diseases resisting modern drugs.</p

Forest restoration and Sustainable of Soil Water Resources and High-quality sustainable management
Along with economic development and an increase in population, there is an increasing demand for goods such as timber, food, medicine, and so on, and ecological services such as fresh water and the environment. Because goods and service produced by the original forest cannot meet the increasing need of people, so most of the original forest has become farmland, plantation, and grass, and a lot of exotic plants was introduced to produce special products and service. As introduced plants grow, vegetation decline and crop failure happen in dry years or resource waste in wet years. In order to solve these problems, Years of theoretical research and investigation in fixed positions have shown that there is a soil water resources use limit by plants and the soil water vegetation carrying capacity in the process of vegetation restoration. When the soil water resources in the range of the maximum infiltration depth are equal to soil water resources use limit by plants, the plant water relation enters the key period of plant water relation regulation. If existing plant density is more than the soil water vegetation carrying capacity in the key period of plant water relation regulation, the plant water relation has to be regulated on the soil water vegetation carrying capacity to get maximal yield and service and realize high-quality sustainable management of forest vegetation in a water shortage area.</p
