Powerful social media tools and use for boosting customer engagement in B2B companies
Frame of the research. Digital transformation has altered the dynamics of B2B interactions, with social media emerging as a powerful tool for fostering engagement with business customers.
Purpose of the paper. The paper explores advertising campaigns conducted on LinkedIn, with the aim of analyzing their impact on digital performance metrics, direct information on user interactions and perceptions, and engagement markers.
Methodology. Focusing on real business data, LinkedIn advertising campaigns and website traffic from Google Analytics are examined.
Results. Social media help to communicate crucial concerns like the corporate sustainability orientation. In particular, LinkedIn demonstrates its role in increasing user engagement on the website, exchanging contents and advertise items.
Research limitations. The analysis precludes comparisons across platforms, data only covers a brief period of advertising activity, and results generalizability is limited because data are from customized LinkedIn ads directed at specific markets.
Managerial implications. Managers should prioritize LinkedIn as the central platform for their B2B marketing strategies where professional networks are essential. The ability to generate high-quality engagement on the website through targeted campaigns reflects the importance of the platform in boosting companies’ positioning.
Originality of the paper. The combination of sources represents an effective basis for examining the relationship between LinkedIn activity and website behavior

Second-Line Medications for Women Aged 10 to 50 Years with Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy
Importance: Women with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) face challenges in treatment due to limited options that are both effective and safe. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of substitution monotherapy vs add-on therapy as second-line options for women who might become pregnant with IGE after failure of first-line antiseizure medications (ASMs) other than valproic acid. Design, Setting, and Participants: Multicenter retrospective comparative effectiveness cohort study at 18 primary, secondary, and tertiary adult and children epilepsy centers across 4 countries, analyzing data from 1995 to 2023. Participants were women aged 10 to 50 years diagnosed with IGE who were prescribed a second line of ASM. Main Outcomes and Measures: Treatment failure (TF), defined as the replacement or addition of a second ASM due to ineffectiveness, was compared between patients receiving ASM add-on or substitution monotherapy using inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW)-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression. Exploratory analyses were also conducted to assess the effectiveness of individual ASMs and various ASM combinations. Results: This study included 249 women with a median (IQR) age of 18.0 (15.5-22.0) years. Among them, 146 (58.6%) received an add-on regimen, and 103 (41.4%) received substitution monotherapy. During follow-up, TF occurred in 48 patients (32.9%) receiving add-on therapy and 36 (35.0%) using substitution monotherapy, with no significant differences between groups (IPTW-adjusted hazard ratio [HR], 0.89; 95% CI, 0.53-1.51; P =.69). ASM discontinuation due to ineffectiveness or adverse effects occurred in 36 patients (24.7%) receiving add-on therapy and 29 (28.2%) receiving substitution monotherapy, showing no significant differences (IPTW-adjusted HR, 0.97; 95% CI, 0.57-1.65; P =.92). Rates of ASM discontinuation due to adverse effects only were low in both groups, occurring in 13 patients (9.0%) receiving add-on therapy and 9 (8.7%) receiving a substitution monotherapy. Among add-on regimens other than valproic acid, the combination of levetiracetam and lamotrigine demonstrated a lower risk of TF compared with other combinations with levetiracetam plus other ASM (adjusted HR, 2.41; 95% CI, 1.12-5.17; P =.02) and lamotrigine plus other ASM (adjusted HR, 4.03; 95% CI, 1.73-9.39; P =.001). However, valproic acid remained the most effective second-line ASM when considering individual agents. Conclusions and relevance: In this comparative effectiveness study of second-line treatment strategies for women with IGE, no significant differences were observed between substitution monotherapy and add-on therapy
A multi-analytical approach to unveil Early Bronze Age population dynamics and metal exchange networks at the foot of Mount Vesuvius
The trajectories of human and object mobility in the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC have long been a significant area of inquiry within prehistoric archaeology and over the past decade, aDNA and isotope analyses revealed a complex pattern of human migration, cultural admixture and exchange routes. While Northern Italy is clearly involved in this phenomenon, there remains a significant gap for the south of the country, generally considered peripheral to major exchange networks in this phase. Recently, two large cemeteries have been discovered in the hinterland of Mount Vesuvius (Acerra, Italy). They have yielded unprecedented numbers of exotic metal objects dating to 2400–1800 BC. Such items are extremely rare in Southern Italy, displaying typologies more commonly found across Northern Italy and Central Europe. Archaeological, bioanthropological and geochemical methods were applied to material from the cemeteries. Pb isotope analyses and metal artifact distribution modeling revealed long-distance terrestrial and maritime connections to Northern Italy, Continental Europe and the Western Mediterranean. Conversely, Sr isotope data indicate that these prestigious and exotic objects were deposited within a context of low human mobility. By integrating investigations into both metal and human mobility, this study emphasizes the extent and complexity of the exchange network in Southern Italy around 2000 BC
Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the emotional state of dental hygiene students in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna
BacKGrOUND: in December 2019, the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SarS-coV-2) was
identified in Wuhan, C hina. B y February 2 020, t he virus h ad s pread to Europe a nd w as subsequently transmitted
worldwide. Italy was the fifth-most affected country worldwide and the fourth-most affected country in Europe. Be-
ginning on February 23rd, 2020, the italian government suspended all teaching activities in schools and universities.
METHODS: In 2020, an anonymous questionnaire was administered to dental hygiene students in the Emilia Romagna
region, one of the most severely affected regions in italy. the survey evaluated the effects of the coronavirus disease
2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on educational activities and training among students, as well as its emotional consequenc-
es. In 2022, the questionnaire was administered to students in the same University courses. Considering the 3-year
duration of the course, some respondents to the first survey were working during the second survey, whereas others were
scheduled to graduate soon. this survey evaluated the emotional impact of the pandemic on recent graduates and future
dental hygienists; it also explored the potential influences of emotions, such as anxiety and anger, in the workplace.
RESULTS: In total, 39, 48, and 41 respondents experienced quite intense/intense, moderate, or mild anger, respectively.
the proportion of respondents experiencing anger increased from 46% in 2020 to 67.7% in 2022 (128 of 189). anger and
anxiety persisted at 2 years, as evidenced by responses to the second survey conducted in 2022, although the proportions
differed compared with 2020.
cONclUSiONS: changes in anger and anxiety among students over time should be monitored. Furthermore, it remains
unclear whether anger among students can be replaced by positive emotions after entry into the workforce, suggesting
compensation for their efforts. If negative emotions persist, new workers may exhibit emotional responses and aggressive
social behaviors
Women directors in Italy: 1913–2017
Corporate elites have been male bastions until very recently and
businesswomen have been very few and difficult to track. This paper
addresses this topic by investigating the presence of women among
the directors of the top 250 Italian joint-stock companies in eleven
benchmark years spanning from 1913 to 2017. It shows a male preponderance
throughout the period investigated. Women were nearly
totally excluded from Italian boards until the end of the 20th century
and their number showed a sizeable increase only after the turn of
the century. Women also occupied marginal positions in the boards:
very few of them held multiple directorships and the first female
interlocker appeared only in 1972. In a country dominated by family
capitalism, for a long time the very few women directors sat on the
boards of family firms and were members of the families that owned
these firms. The presence of women in Italian corporate boards was
boosted in recent years by the introduction in 2011 of mandatory
gender quotas for listed firms and for firms participated by the state.
This law provided legitimacy to the appointment of women on
boards also in other firms not affected by the new regulation. The
massive increase in seats held by women led to a professionalisation
of female directors in Italy, even though women are still largely
excluded from top executive positions
