La relazione analizza criticamente i presupposti teorici e la concreta applicazione di due tecniche decisionali recentemente utilizzate dal giudice delle leggi e molto discusse: le pronunce di "incostituzionalitaΜ differita" e la tecnica, inaugurata nel caso Cappato, che consiste nell'anticipazione della valutazione circa l'illegittimitaΜ costituzionale della disposizione scrutinata in sede di rinvio della trattazione della causa
Frequency-Band Estimation of the Number of Factors
We introduce consistent estimators for the number of shocks driving large-dimensional dynamic factor models. Our estimator can be applied to single frequencies and specific frequency bands, making it suitable for disentangling shocks affecting dynamic models with a factor model representation. Its small-sample performance in simulations is excellent. We apply our estimator to the FRED-QD dataset, finding that the U.S. macroeconomy is driven by two shocks: an inflationary demand shock and a deflationary supply shock
A Personalized Approach to Vitamin D Supplementation in Cardiovascular Health Beyond the Bone: An Expert Consensus by the Italian National Institute for Cardiovascular Research
Vitamin D is increasingly recognized for its role in cardiovascular health beyond its well-established effects on bone metabolism. This review synthesizes findings from observational studies, interventional trials, and meta-analyses to clarify the mechanisms through which vitamin D impacts cardiovascular health, including its influence on vascular function, inflammation, and metabolic pathways. Additionally, this review emphasizes the importance of a personalized approach to vitamin D supplementation, integrating individual cardiovascular risk profiles, baseline vitamin D levels, and comorbid conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes. While current evidence supports the association between low vitamin D levels and increased cardiovascular mortality, this work contributes novel insights by proposing tailored strategies for supplementation, particularly for high-risk subgroups. Practical recommendations for implementing these strategies in clinical practice are also discussed, providing a framework for optimizing cardiovascular outcomes through individualized vitamin D management

Human chorionic gonadotropin-based clinical treatments for infertile men with non-obstructive azoospermia
Spermatogenesis is primarily controlled by follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone-driven testosterone. Luteinizing hormone acts on the Leydig cells, stimulating steroid production, predominantly testosterone, and activating critical inter-related spermatogenesis regulatory pathways. Despite evidence that exogenous gonadotropins containing luteinizing hormone activity, particularly human chorionic gonadotropin, can effectively restore spermatogenesis in azoospermic males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, the use of these drugs to treat other forms of non-obstructive azoospermia is the subject of an ongoing debate. In this review, we delve into the molecular properties and functions of human chorionic gonadotropin in spermatogenesis regulation and explore available preparations for therapeutic use. We examine the evidence regarding the effectiveness of human chorionic gonadotropin in treating infertility in men with pre-testicular or testicular non-obstructive azoospermia and, additionally, identify the main areas for future research. Our review highlights the critical role of luteinizing hormone activity in spermatogenesis and emphasizes the potential of human chorionic gonadotropin in treating male infertility. The variation in the characteristics of patients with non-obstructive azoospermia underscores the importance of assessing hormonal profiles when contemplating hormonal treatment for these patients. A novel stratification of male infertility patients, the APHRODITE criteria, which considers clinical and laboratory indicators, may assist in identifying individuals who could benefit from human chorionic gonadotropin therapy. While accumulating evidence suggests promising venues for pharmacological treatment in male infertility, including non-obstructive azoospermia, further research is required to completely elucidate the mechanisms underlying the effects of exogenous gonadotropins with luteinizing hormone activity on sperm production and to establish the most effective dosages and treatment durations
A Web of Things approach for learning on the EdgeβCloud Continuum
Internet of Things (IoT) devices provide constant, contextual data that can be leveraged to automatically reconfigure and optimize smart environments. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and deep learning techniques are tools of increasing importance for this, as Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) can provide a general solution to this problem. However, the heterogeneity of scenarios in which DRL models may be deployed is vast, making the design of universal plug-and-play models extremely difficult. Moreover, the real deployment of DRL models on the Edge, and in the IoT in particular, is limited by two factors: firstly, the computational complexity of the training procedure, and secondly, the need for a relatively long exploration phase, during which the agent proceeds by trial and error. A natural solution to both these issues is to use simulated environments by creating a Digital Twin (DT) of the environment, which can replicate physical entities in the digital domain, providing a standardized interface to the application layer. DTs allow for simulation and testing of models and services in a simulated environment, which may be hosted on more powerful Cloud servers without the need to exchange all the data generated by the real devices. In this paper, we present a novel architecture based on the emerging Web of Things (WoT) standard, which provides a DT of a smart environment and applies DRL techniques on real time data. We discuss the theoretical properties of DRL training using DTs, showcasing our system in an existing real deployment, comparing its performance with a legacy system. Our findings show that the implementation of a DT, specifically for DRL models, allows for faster convergence and finer tuning, as well as reducing the computational and communication demands on the Edge network. The use of multiple DTs with different complexities and data requirements can also help accelerate the training, progressing by steps
