Accountability of Judicial Offices: Use of Financial Resources and Reporting Practices
This study explores the external reporting practices of judicial offices regarding financial data, with the aim of improving understanding of the resources used and generated by the justice system. Specifically, we focus on the expense and revenue structure of Italian judicial offices by examining financial data contained in social reports voluntarily issued and made public by Tribunals and Courts of Appeal from 2010 to 2022. Our empirical analysis reveals a lack of regularity in the production and dissemination of financial data and provides detailed evidence on the main categories of expenses and revenues. Our findings suggest that consistent monitoring of financial data would prove valuable from an efficiency perspective and as a tool for assessing alternative resource allocation. This need seems particularly relevant in light of the initiatives undertaken with the support of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to expedite judicial processes, including the extraordinary plan related to the Ufficio per il Processo
Supercritical CO2 particulate leaching and impregnation: A new strategy for customized electrospun mats loaded with an antiviral drug
This research introduces a new method for impregnating active compounds into electrospun biomembranes, significantly improving drug loading by exploiting the unique properties of CO2 under supercritical conditions. The innovative approach involves the creation of customized electrospun matrices, with stearic acid acting as a porogen with controlled crystal dimensions (≤ 0.500 μm) deposited at fixed time intervals during the fiber deposition by electrospinning. The electrospun zein mat, loaded with the porogen agent crystals, undergoes a novel single-stage supercritical carbon dioxide-based process named Supercritical Leaching and IMpregnation (SLIM). This process involves the simultaneous removal of the porogen agent, the purification of residual solvent traces from the membranes, and the loading of the drug (in this case, acyclovir) by impregnation. The impregnation kinetics, determined at 200 bar, show that an increase in contact time leads to higher acyclovir loadings, reaching maximum values of 22.4 % wacyclovir/wmembrane at 50 °C. In contrast, the loading of acyclovir by impregnation on the electrospun mat without the use of a porogen was only 1.6 % wacyclovir/wmembrane. Therefore, the use of a suitable porogen agent in the SLIM process proposed in this paper led to the creation of a structure with controlled-size pores and a high drug loading. This promising development has the potential to revolutionize drug delivery systems production technologies, offering new possibilities for controlled and sustained drug release devices production
Computer-aided Investigation of the Performance of Water-based Metal Oxide Nanofluids
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has emerged as a powerful tool for simulating the behavior of nanofluids
in thermal systems, providing a cost-effective alternative to experimental studies. This contribution presents a
comprehensive computational modelling approach to study the flow and heat transfer characteristics of
nanofluids, based on experimental data from synthesized prototypes of CuO (1 wt %, 5 wt %) and Al2O3 (1 wt
%, 5 wt %) nanoparticles in water. The modeling was performed using OpenFOAM, an open-source CFD
Software that allows a high degree of customization of simulation parameters. The study involved the
development of detailed CFD models to investigate the influence of nanoparticle morphological properties on
the thermal performance of nanofluids. Different multiphase schemes were used to accurately simulate the
complex interactions between nanoparticles and base fluids. The simulation results were compared with
experimental and literature data to validate the models and ensure their reliability. The validated models were
then used to extend the experimental campaign, exploring the potential of different nanoparticle compositions
and concentrations to optimize thermal efficiency. The results demonstrate that CFD modeling can effectively
predict the behavior of nanofluids, providing a robust framework for optimizing their performance in real-world
applications. The study underscores the importance of integrating experimental and computational approaches
to achieve a comprehensive understanding of nanofluid dynamics. The insights gained from this research
contribute to the advancement of nanofluid technology, offering practical solutions for enhancing heat transfer
efficiency in industrial processes

Impact of Powder Granulometry on the Transport Properties of Ba0.6K0.4Fe2As2 Superconducting Tapes
In this article, we investigate the influence of powder granulometry on the superconducting properties of (Ba0.6K0.4)Fe2As2 tapes manufactured using the Powder-In-Tube (PIT) technique. Variations in particle size distribution, which we successfully modulated through planetary ball milling and meticulous powder synthesis process, can affect the packing of the powders inside the metallic sheath and the mechanical deformation process of the samples, impacting their transport properties, as known for other practical conductors. The comparison among PIT tapes realized with a consistent fabrication route made with powders with different granulometries is reported, highlighting the effects on the transport property performances
“And now let me alone to end the tragedy”: Othello, Comedy and Candlelight in John Fletcher’s Women Pleased
This article argues that Fletcher’s Women Pleased features an overlooked response to Shakespeare’s Othello in terms of dramatic structure, staging, setting, genre, characterization and thematic concerns that calls attention to some crucial aspects of Shakespeare’s play in such a way as to make Fletcher emerge as an early critic of Shakespearian drama
