Comparisons of Physicians’, Nurses’, and Social Welfare Professionals’ Experiences With Participation in Information System Development:Cross-Sectional Survey Study
Background:The integration of health care and social welfare services together with the consolidation of health care information systems (HISs) and client information systems (CISs) has become a timely topic. Despite this development, there is a scarcity of systematic research on physicians’, registered nurses’ (RNs) and social welfare professionals’ (SWPs) experiences of participating in the development of HISs and CISs.Objective:This study aimed to examine how physicians, RNs and SWPs experience collaboration with HIS or CIS vendors, and what kinds of end users have participated in HIS or CIS development. Methods:National cross-sectional usability surveys were conducted in Finland among RNs and SWPs in 2020 and physicians in 2021. Questions concerning participation experiences were analyzed by professional group, working sector, managerial position, and age. Results:In total, 4683 physicians, 3610 RNs, and 990 SWPs responded to the surveys. In all 3 professional groups, those working in nonmanagerial positions and the youngest respondents participated least in HIS or CIS development, and 76% (n=3528) of physicians, 78% (n=2814) of RNs and 67% (n=664) of SWPs had not participated at all. When comparing the groups, physicians were least aware of feedback processes and least satisfied with vendors’ interest in end-user feedback and the manner and speed of HIS development. Those who had dedicated working time for HIS or CIS development were less critical of vendors’ interest and responsiveness to development ideas than those who had not participated at all. In all 3 professional groups, the youngest were most dissatisfied with HIS and CIS vendor collaboration. Conclusions:Experiences of participation in HIS and CIS development were relatively negative across all 3 professional groups, with physicians being the most critical. Dialogue and collaboration between developers and end users—also the youngest ones and frontline workers—need improvement; simply increasing allotted working time is unlikely to produce more positive participation experiences
Gender minorities and persons with disabilities defining their perpetrators at music festivals
There are recent studies on sexual harassment at music festivals, particularly toward female attendees. However, studies on perpetrators of minority members are scarce. We wanted to discover the prevalence of inappropriate behavior toward gender minorities and persons with disabilities and give voice to their experiences, aiming to identify ways to improve inclusivity at music festivals. The research data comprised survey responses (n = 16,681) and nine in-depth interviews of minority members and their Personal Assistants. Statistical methods and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis were employed for the research. Both gender minorities and persons with disabilities faced more inappropriate behavior than other festival attendees, and these experiences increased if the person belonged to both minorities. The perpetrators were divided into four groups: those with positive attitudes but incorrect actions; those who were ignorant or did not care; those who had negative, prejudiced behavior, and those who were aggressive and expressed hate. Organizers should take various actions to increase inclusivity in their festivals: defining safer space policies; training, programming and recruitment; hiring a harassment contact team; improving the control of alcohol consumption, and introducing a sensory-friendly space
COVID-19 facial covering during outdoor recreation reflects historical disease prevalence and culture above and beyond governmental measures:A study in 53 countries
The COVID-19 pandemic severely influenced human behavior due to governmental restrictions. In addition to administrative restrictions, other factors, like historical disease prevalence and culture might impact on recent behavior. The parasite stress theory of values and sociality predicts an influence of historical diseases on human culture and may be of important influence on current human behavioral responses towards the pandemic. To address the influence on behavior, we studied mask use in outdoor recreationists (N = 4863) from 53 cultures. Studying outdoor recreationists is advantageous because people have at least some choices over their mask use, and it is less strictly controlled. We hypothesize that pathogen prevalence and cultural values of a society predict mask usage above and beyond the simplistic explanation of the strength of the governmental pandemic-related restrictions. Our results indicate that societal variables, especially individualism, contribute to the mask use during leisure activities, with people from more individualistic societies reporting lesser mask usage. Further, historic pathogen prevalence has a significant influence on mask use, even when controlling for the stringency measures of the government, HDI and population density. Zoonotic disease richness, however, did not receive significance. A mediation model showed that historical pathogen prevalence had an indirect effect on mask use, via the two pathways collectivism-individualism and governmental regulations. The total effect size of pathogen prevalence on mask use was 0.61, and with 0.24 as direct, and 0.37 indirect effects. Our data fit into the parasite stress theory of values and sociality. Our results provide evidence that the governmental decisions and restrictions themselves are influenced by the historical pathogens
Large Language Models in the 6G-Enabled Computing Continuum:a White Paper
The evolution towards 6G architecture will shift communication networks, with artificial intelligence (AI) playing a key role. This white paper examines the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) within 6G systems. Their ability to grasp intent, reason, and plan, and execute commands will redefine network functionalities and interactions. An essential component is the AI Interconnect framework, designed to facilitate AI operations within the network. Building on the evolving state-of-the-art, we present a new architectural perspective for the next generation of mobile networks. Here, LLMs will work together with pre-generative AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms. This union combines old and new methods, merging established approaches with AI technologies. We provide an overview of this evolution and explore the applications arising from such an integration. We envisage an integration where AI becomes central to future communication networks, offering insight into the structure and function of a 6G network centered on AIThe evolution towards 6G architecture will shift communication networks, with artificial intelligence (AI) playing a key role. Scientific Fabulation
Amid the multiple ecological crises at present, this entry approaches responsible innovation as a creative and collaborative process that recognizes the agency of other-than-human species. It introduces the genre of scientific fables that can stretch our imaginations and circles of care beyond humancentric understandings of well-being and knowledge. Unlike classical fables, this kind of transdisciplinary storytelling does not provide moral lessons or simple categories of good and bad, yet it seeks to hesitate, complicate, and make multiple voices heard. Importantly, scientific fables can offer us hope and strength to persevere with wicked problems with others

Taideperustainen toimintatutkimus kuvataidekasvatuksen käytäntöjen kehittämisen välineenä
Taideperustainen toimintatutkimus vastaa laaja-alaisen kuvataidekasvatuksen praktiseen tiedonintressiin.
