A comparative study of machine learning models for fundraising success
Non-Profit organizations play a vital role in mitigating the plights of society by providing nec-essary services. However, to accomplish their goals they need an ongoing infusion of funds. Prospective donor identification and donor amount upgradation are two major challenges faced by these organizations. The research overcomes these challenges by a comparative study of seven machine learning models which are Gradient Boosting, XGB, KNN, SVM, Naïve Bayes, Logistic Regression, and Decision Tree. As per the research, XGB performs the best overcom-ing both the challenges by achieving an accuracy of 89% and F1-Score of 88% for donor pre-diction and an accuracy of 95% and F1-score of 91% for donor amount upgradation. The re-search also helps to deal with a class imbalance which is a common issue with classification problems by using the SMOTE technique. Further, an interactive web application is built using R-Shiny to help the fundraisers in their mission
An investigation into the use of volunteers by special libraries in the Republic of Ireland
This study aimed to investigate the use of volunteers in special libraries in the Republic of Ireland. The research showed the various effects of volunteers on library services. Seven qualitative semi-structured interviews with librarians and staff at various libraries were conducted. Volunteers’ duties varied depending on the services offered by each special library. Interviewees identified a range of positive and negative effects. Volunteers helped libraries to offer improved and additional services and broadened the shared skills within the library team. A higher volume of work was completed. Volunteer networks became available for libraries to consult in future. The training and time required to prepare each volunteer was identified as a challenge. Volunteer policies were not present in every library, which may result in greater challenges for the staff and volunteers. The experiences and opinions of library staff were positive and showed a readiness to recruit volunteers again in the future
The hidden paradox of shame: It is everywhere but nowhere to be seen. A psychotherapeutic exploration into the manifestation of shame in the therapeutic relationship
Though often hidden, shame is a powerful and painful emotion that underlies many of
the issues that clients bring to psychotherapy. The focus of this study is on the
manifestation of shame in the therapeutic relationship. Through a qualitative
investigation with seven experienced therapists the study sought to uncover how
shame presents and impacts the therapist client dyad. Using a thematic analysis
approach to the findings, themes of attachment, embodiment, and the unconscious
enactment of shame in the transferential and countertransferential relationship were
identified. The rich data illustrated the difficulty in working with shame when clients
are often highly defended and shamed about their shame. Amongst the findings, the
study identified the body both as a container and source of shame, the defences used
in shame, and how the expression of shame differs for men and women. Through an
awareness of the presence and manifestation of shame, there exists the possibility for
therapists to open up a space for it to be brought in and normalised
Anti-money laundering detection and customer segmentation
In this project we going to cover best practices of the anti-money laundering techniques and methods, such a customer segmentation based on suspicious behaviour and fraud detection machine learning algorithms. The goal of the project is to define what payment instrument used for the money laundering the most, so financial institution can reinforce their fraud detection process for this specific payment method and work closely with the bank provider. We going to implement and compare different machine learning classification and clustering algorithms and find out what method is more accurate and suits better for crime detection problem on the specific financial instrument
The revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2): Implementation of PSD2 on the Spanish bank market
The revised payment services directive (PSD2), has changed how the retail banking market
works today. The new directive obligates banks, with the consumer’s consent, to provide
access to account information and thus open up the market for new actors. This study aims
to provide an understanding of the effect PSD2 have on the retail banking market in Spain
and how the players are acting to cope with the changes it entails. To gain in-depth knowledge
about the Spanish payment market, four semi-structured interviews have been conducted
with subject matter experts. The empirical results of this research conclude that a
collaborative relationship between banks and TPPs will facilitate the successful
implementation of PSD2 in Spain. Furthermore, the effective use of bank´s customer data has
become the key competitive advantage for the future thanks to Open Banking. Lastly, the
entrance of BigTech’s into the payments market threatens the banks' positions
An exploration into the nuances of conducting psychotherapy using video conferencing technology
Psychotherapy conducted online using video conferencing software is becoming an
increasingly popular option for both clients and psychotherapists. The Coronavirus
pandemic (Covid-19) has forced the profession at large to become acquainted with this
mode of practice overnight, as seeing clients face to face has not been permitted during
a countrywide lockdown, from March to June 2020. However, specific training for
working online with video is not currently being covered by the majority of
psychotherapy training courses in Ireland. The core aim of this research is to address
specific nuances of working in this way from experienced practitioners that could have a
potential impact on the therapeutic encounter and its’ processes. This qualitative
research paper aims to identify these nuances and explore their implications for video
psychotherapy practice. It attempts to serve as a guide and support to practitioners who
decide to, or indeed have to, conduct their sessions over video. Six psychotherapists who
have experience of conducting their practice both with face to face sessions, and over
video, have been interviewed for the purpose of the research. Thematic analysis has
been used to identify patterns and meanings within the data set. Subsequently, three key
themes have been highlighted relating to this topic; (i) The challenges of introducing
video technology into the psychotherapeutic space, (ii) Managing the nuances of the cocreated
space over video, (iii) The requirement for psychotherapeutic modifications and
flexibility. This research suggests that there are challenges that are unique to this way
of working, yet also that there are instances where this way of working is proving to be
successful, if the therapist is able to adequately modify their therapeutic techniques to
its unique set of demands
Impact of environmental-friendly business practices on consumer behaviour, of various age groups in Ireland
The research found that environmental beliefs and deontology have a positive relationship with inward and outward environmental attitude. It was also found that inward environmental attitude was a positive predictor of green purchasing behavior (GPB), but outward environmental attitude was found to be insignificant when it comes to general environmental behavior. The research also suggests that men are more likely to engage in green purchasing behavior, but women’s green purchasing behavior is more strongly influenced by inward environmental attitude. Similarly, millennials are more likely to engage in green purchasing behavior, but boomer’s green purchasing behavior is more strongly influenced by inward environmental attitude. The findings of the research are in accordance with majority of scientific literature available on this topic. The research has provided solid constructs for future researchers to benefit from and improve as the coefficient of determination (the proportion of the variance in the dependent variables that is predictable from the independent variables) of the constructs are above 0.7 which translates to more than 70%. This offers a lot of certainty in predicting the behavior of consumers
Let’s talk about Voldemort: A quantitative view of how subordinate words are implicit to fear
The current study is an exploratory analysis of whether subordinate words are implicit to fear. Furthermore, the study examines Empathy, Imagination, Gender and nationality on Distress levels. 120 Participants from the general public were reached through social media using convenience sampling for this quantitative analysis. Through Microsoft forms, the survey consists of Ambiguous statements and psychometric measures; Subjective Relaxation and Distress scale and Interpersonal Reactivity Index. For the main aim of the study, a repeated measure Anova was conducted and revealed that subordinate words are not implicit to fear. However, further analysis revealed significance of gender and nationality differences within the cohort. The current study offers direction to future research

For my project I developed a website for a Computer Technical Support company. The main purpose of the website will be to promote a Tech Support Company and also to gain experience creating an ecommerce website. The website is also to be used as a demonstration for potential customers to show what can be achieved for a small investment.
The website is to be user focused with a simple modern design. From the customers point of view the website should be viewed as a resource to:
• Purchase Support on demand – Request Remote Support, Request On Site Support or Request Email Support
• Purchase supplies – Purchase computer equipment, accessories and supplies e.g. Ink, Toner, computers, monitors etc
• Knowledge – Gain, Share and Research Knowledge on a Blog.
The website will be vendor neutral and offer links to trusted websites for support, purchasing and product reviews. The website will incorporate a remote support portal, were users of desktop and server computers can gain easy access to allow a technician to remotely access the users computer to help resolve technical issues remotely.
The website will also have an ecommerce portal with the ability to customers to purchase goods and services from various venders
