Understanding the role of emotion in connection with Music preference and chords in musical compositions

    No full text
The aim of the study is to investigate the role of musical chords on emotions. Major modes are believed to be associated with happiness, while Minor modes are associated with sadness. The experiment was devised to produce music stimuli with conflicting cues in 4 conditions, (major, major inverted to minor, minor, and minor inverted to major). The participants (n = 118) rated their emotions with the GEMS-45 scale and their musical preference with the STOMP(R) prior to music stimuli, additionally the subjects described their personal experiences with music. The subjects rated their emotions after the stimulus and found that there were no differences on emotive states(sublimity/vitality/unease) due to chord conditions. There were however differences in emotions such as nostalgia and wonder with pre-test and post-test analysis which showed the beneficial effects music has on the individual. The study also demonstrated the significant differences of musical taste between age groups

    No full text
This quantitative research project investigates the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in the residential housing market in Ireland. To examine this relationship, this research project gathered primary data in the form of dwellings brought to market and sold in 2019 to 2021. This data was gathered from estate agents active in the Irish residential housing market. Secondary research in the form of examining data from the Central Statistics Office and the Property Registration Authority was also gathered to analyse quantity changes as well as price changes in the residential housing market over the previous ten years. Findings suggest that COVID-19 has reduced housing supply, which has led to increased prices in the market, however, further research is needed to discuss other factors which may have influenced the market also

Comparative analysis of deep and transfer learning techniques for two and multi-class weather image classification

    No full text
Information about the weather plays a very vital role in day-to-day life of humans, including various sectors like agriculture, business, traffic etc., knowing the weather beforehand helps to resolve several weather-related issues, this generates need of implementing a robust model to find weather type by analysing weather images. Very few research has been conducted in this field using Transfer Learning. This research fills the gap by using pre-trained models and CNN model. The focus of this research is classification of different types of weather using transfer learning. Image2Weather dataset taken and divided into two datasets, Weather4Class having four weather classes and Weather2Class dataset having two weather class and four deep transfer learning models applied further performance is compared. The Data Augmentation and Feature Extraction technique is applied on VGG16. InceptionV3, DenseNet and CNN were also considered for accuracy comparison. The research concluded VGG16 model performed best compared to other techniques

The Zero Moment of Truth and its impact on the consumer decision-making process

    No full text
Search engines are used to find information about specific brands or products. Consumers consider information they find online before completing a purchase, while the majority of people also look up information on products they plan to buy in-store. The moment a consumer goes online to search and evaluate information before purchasing a product or service is called The Zero Moment of Truth (ZMOT). The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of the ZMOT, and the relevance of the information customers find online during this moment for their final purchase decision. The methodology adopted for this dissertation was quantitative and descriptive. In order to collect relevant data, a survey involving 152 respondents residing in Ireland was conducted. Key findings from this study suggest that users are less likely to buy products for which they can find little or no information online, and thus highlight the importance of online information for the consumer’s decision-making process
