Educazione estetica, “artigianalità” e scuola. Una riflessione pedagogica tra Outdoor Education e Land Art

    No full text
This contribution examines the pedagogical legitimacy of aesthetic education in schools, particularly through Outdoor Education and Land Art, as a means of fostering interpersonal relationships and developing creative and “artisanal” skills, also through outdoor experiences. What forms of aesthetic education can facilitate authentic learning connected to the concepts of observation, artwork, process, and artistic product? What actions and dynamics unite the creation and reception of an artwork, allowing students to learn a contemplative and sustainable way of living within the school environment? Whether it be a painting, sculpture, installation, video, performance, or artistic landscape, the realms of beauty continuously challenge manual skills, creativity, artistic abilities, and the relationship between student and teacher, pointing towards a pedagogical commitment that always embraces the beauty of living and living together. Outdoor Education, when applied through projects and initiatives centered around art and beauty, can help foster a more ecological and inclusive mindset, critical of unsustainable teaching and learning practices

University Students with Special Educational Needs: An Assessment of Satisfaction and Perceptions of e-Learning and Services Provided

    No full text
Students with special educational needs (SEN) encounter more substantial challenges in higher education compared to their peers, including physical, behavioral, technological, organizational, and financial barriers. Despite these difficulties, higher education can serve as a transformative experience, enhancing their quality of life, promoting well-being, supporting employability, fostering independence, and offering significant empowerment opportunities. To encourage academic success and social inclusion, it is essential to implement tailored support measures. E-learning represents a practical and effective educational strategy for students with SEN, serving as a platform for fostering self-determination and empowerment by enhancing access to and engagement in academic activities. After presenting the organizational model and services provided by the eCampus University Commission for students with SEN, the present contribution aims to explore student satisfaction through an online survey. Specifically, it investigates (1) students’ levels of satisfaction with the available services, (2) their suggestions for service improvement, and (3) their evaluation of the suitability of an e-learning university for addressing their specific needs. The findings will provide insights into the experiences and perceptions of students regarding the support services offered to students with SEN

Protective ileostomy creation after anterior resection of the rectum (PICARR): a decision-making exploring international survey

    No full text
In our previous survey of experts, surgeon's decision-making process (DMP) about protective ileostomy (PI) creation after anterior resection was investigated. Based on our previous data, a multiple choice questionnaire has been developed. The aim is to perform a quantitative analysis of the results obtained from an international survey and to describe the clinical practice worldwide. Ten questions were related to participants' demographics and, 20 questions (of which 17 Likert scale questions) investigated the DMP regarding PI creation. To evaluate the tendency of the answers in the Likert-type questions, the mean of the answers obtained was compared with the mean point of the Likert scale. The survey was completed by 1019 physicians. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and distance of the anastomosis from the anal verge ≤ 10 cm were each considered alone sufficient to justify creation of a PI, with statistically significant differences in comparison to the mean point of the scales in (p = < 0.0001 in both cases). Total Mesorectal Excision alone was not considered a factor sufficient to create a PI (p = 0.416). Most of the participants agree to define their approach to create a PI "tailored" to patients' risk factors (p = < 0.0001) and "influenced by my experience" in case of patients with low/moderate risk of anastomotic leakage (p = < 0.0001). This study provides useful insights on the worldwide clinical practice regarding creation of PI following anterior resection. Given the lack of standardization and evidence-based guidelines, this analysis may be helpful to assist surgeons' practice

Cost effective hydrogen production of coupled photovoltaic and electrolyzer systems considering plant lifetime and geographical location

    No full text
Advancements in electrolysis technologies, coupled with improvements in associated production processes and public incentive programs, are progressively enabling the widespread deployment of megawatt-scale electrolyzers. While these policies are crucial in the short term to support the adoption of emerging technologies and the transformation of industrial processes, substantial focus must be directed toward optimizing technical solutions. This study aims to determine the cost-optimal configuration of a grid-connected system comprising a photovoltaic (PV) production plant and an electrolyzer. This will be accomplished using advanced simulation models that account for the load and thermal cycles, the geographical location of production sites, and the operational lifespan of the installations. The simulation will identify the optimal ratio between the PV array and the electrolyzer to minimize the LCOH (Levelized Cost of Hydrogen). A sensitivity analysis of the PV capacity, considering site-specific irradiation, will be conducted to achieve this objective. The study further delves into the evaluation of the LCOH depending on the utilization of the stacks and alternative management control logic. The findings from the study suggest that the optimal PV:ELE ratio ranges from 1.5:1 to 1.8:1 based on geographical location and highlight an LCOH reduction of about 10 % while coupling the electrolyzer with a PV monoaxial tracking installation over a fixed setup. Ultimately, the analysis of alternative stack usage strategies demonstrates that dynamically balancing stack utilization ensures the lowest LCOH compared to all other tested alternatives

    Shadow Economy and Tax Evasion

    No full text
Shadow economy and tax evasion are widely studied topics in economics and behavioural sciences. Still, determinants of the tax behaviour of individuals and firms (including psychological aspects and social and cultural norms and customs) are not fully understood. Additionally, questions related to the evolution, operation, and design of formal institutions capable of effectively counteracting these two widespread and related phenomena remain (substantially) unanswered. Finally, fiscal policies fighting against shadow economy and tax evasion could (at least in the short term and in some countries) have adverse effects on economic growth and unemployment. This Special Issue Reprint contributed to improving the understanding of several aspects of shadow economy and tax evasion. It comprises 12 papers, both theoretical and empirical, by scholars and experts in the field

A Scientometric Analysis of User Experience: Exploring Evolution, Emerging Themes, and Impacts

    No full text
This study examines the evolution of User Experience as a distinct field that emerged from human-computer interaction, analyzing 27,082 records dating back to 1985. Data were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection and examined using the R-tool for statistical analysis and visualization of co-citation networks, and CiteSpace for visualizing citation networks. Our analysis reveals a dynamic body of literature strongly influenced by engineering disciplines, with research progresses together with technological innovation. This development has gradually shifted researchers’ attention toward human perception, as they address challenges posed by increasing technological complexity and rising user expectations regarding quality experience. Moreover, the field demonstrates promising opportunities in healthcare applications and shift from theoretical frameworks to practical implementations. This study represents the first comprehensive scientometric analysis of User Experience research, providing critical insights into its developmental trajectory across various domains and offering a valuable resource for understanding and advancing User Experience research
