The Ethical Justification of Application of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception in Patients with Intellectual Disabilities
Get PDFThis paper explores the ethical justification for the use of Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) in patients with intellectual disabilities, particularly in scenarios where patients cannot provide informed consent. The tension between respecting autonomy and ensuring beneficence presents a complex challenge for healthcare providers. Drawing on historical context, current reproductive justice issues, and evolving societal attitudes towards individuals with intellectual disabilities, this essay argues for a semi-discrete model that recognizes the need to prioritize patient health and safety while valuing their autonomy. By examining the implications of both past and present practices, this study highlights the necessity for healthcare providers to navigate these dilemmas thoughtfully and compassionately, advocating for the rights of individuals with intellectual disabilities to access appropriate reproductive health care

Advancing Digital Teaching Literacy: The M-PRAE Model for Large-Scale Enhancement of Primary and Secondary School Teachers
Get PDFHigh-quality teachers are essential to building a strong educational system, with digital teaching literacy being crucial to their professional development. This study, informed by a review of existing research, addressed the need for enhancing the digital teaching literacy among primary and secondary school teachers. Utilizing the MOOC construction concept (Concept), MOOC teaching content (Content), and MOOC design and development (Development)CCD model and the large-scale capabilities of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), this study developed the M-PRAE model, which encompasses five components: building a MOOC, clarifying improvement problems, supplying digital and non-digital resources, implementing collaborative activities, and conducting multi-dimensional evidence-based evaluations. The M-PRAE model facilitated the development of the “Innovative Application of Digital Teaching” MOOC, which was subsequently implemented with over 2,000 primary and secondary school teachers in Guangdong Province, China, to assess its effectiveness. The results indicate that the M-PRAE model effectively enhances digital teaching literacy among primary and secondary school teachers on a large and contributes to the innovative development of basic education
Effectiveness of Multimodal Communicative Practices in Higher Artistic Education: An Analysis of Contemporary Approaches
Get PDFThe relevance of the study is driven by the fact that in today’s world, higher education is increasingly oriented towards interactivity and the utilization of various resources. The aim of this article is to explore various aspects of multimodality and formulate key communicative practices in higher artistic education. Addressing the stated problem is based on theoretical methodology, including methods such as surveys, analytical approaches including historical and hermeneutic analysis, comparative methods, and systematization. Research findings demonstrate that multimodality effectively enriches the learning process, fosters critical thinking, and deepens understanding of subjects. Digital technologies contribute to enhancing students’ technological literacy, preparing them for the challenges of an information society. Utilizing visual and auditory aspects makes learning more engaging and enhances student interest and motivation. Among the main communicative practices widely applied in modern higher artistic education institutions are (a) integration of various media formats, (b) adaptation to different learning styles, (c) optimal balance between real and virtual components, (d) flexibility in online and offiine learning, (e) structured use of technologies, and (g) interactivity and interaction. Further research could focus on studying methods for developing students’ cultural competence in artistic environments. The findings of this research may be beneficial for educators, pedagogy scholars, and students in higher artistic education institutions

Technical Difficulties: An Investigation of Problematic Social Media Usage and Well-Being of Emerging Adults
Get PDFGrounded in previous scholarship investigating the relationship between social media use and psychoemotional outcomes, this study conceptualizes and tests a comprehensive model that constellates predictive factors (i.e., time spent, platforms selected, purposes of use, and emotional regulation abilities) and negative behavioral and emotional outcomes (i.e., addiction and emotional affect), specifically among emerging adults (ages 18-29). A survey of 591 respondents revealed that high usage of certain platforms (i.e., Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook), alongside individual emotional regulation abilities and passivity of social media use, predicts higher levels of addiction and negative emotional outcomes. Additional findings indicate significant differences in social media patterns between age and gender categories among emerging adults. The findings of this study offer translational insights for social media developers, legislators, and stakeholders interested in promoting healthier social media habits by mitigating negative effects, advocating for more mindful social media engagement, and developing policy measures to protect vulnerable users
