Ramsey(3,3,3)>16
noneColor the edges Kn (the complete graph on n vertices) with three colors, red, green, and blue. When the Ramsey number R(r,g,b)=n, the graph will contain either a red Kr, a green Kg, or a blue Kb, and any smaller complete graph can be colored to avoid such subgraphs.
The Ramsey number R(3,3,3) is known to be 17, so K17 cannot be 3-colored without a monochromatic triangle.
This Demonstration shows that K16 can be 3-colored to be triangle free, proving that R(3,3,3)>16. Every pair of circles is connected in exactly one of the three Clebsch graphs, which together form K16. LU Decomposition
In Mathematica, the function LUDecomposition factors a matrix m into the form P L U, where P is a permutation matrix, L is a lower triangular matrix, and U is an upper triangular matrixComponente Curricular::Educação Superior::Ciências Exatas e da Terra::Matemátic
Beats working
Musicians take advantage of a phenomenon called beating when they tune their instruments to a reference pitch. If two tones are very close in pitch-but not exactly the same-their combination has a pulsating or beating quality. The rate of the beating is exactly the difference between the two frequencies. Getting in tune, for the musician, is just a simple matter of getting rid of the beats. Move the blue frequency slider to various positions and hit the "play beating tone" button to hear the beating between the blue tone and the reference red tone. The cursor slider at the bottom is there to convince you that the red and blue waveforms do indeed sum to the green, beating waveform. The blue phase slider demonstrates that the rate of the beating is not affected by the two tones' phase relationship.Componente Curricular::Ensino Médio::Matemátic
